Rossi's Win Celebration.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Racejumkie @ Mar 29 2007, 04:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Ah Rog to the rescue. Dude, Hayden's victory lap was for the Title Championship. Rossi's was for a race win. Come on man. It's like these athletes I see in Basketball who go around pointing at themselves after a slam-dunk or last minute shot while the season is miles ahead still. Lets not even try to compare the difference between a win in the second event of the season and a title championship. Actually, his bowling production would have been more appropriate at the end of the season if he wins the title, but even then it still just showboating. Just before the yellow smoke and fireworks (that oops were intended for who?) It's great to show your emotion and all but do we need to see a sit-com pilot/play production to let us know you just won a race? You would think he never won one. And you call him a “gracious” winner? What exactly was “gracious” about that? More like showboat to me.
I personally think it's great. It's just the way Rossi is, he's a crazy, funny, emotional person and obviously one hell of a rider!!
Didn't you think it was a bit funny then?? I loved it, and that's not cause I happen to support the guy, if Nicky or someone else did it, I would have loved it as well.

Oh funny yes. Somebody should sign up that last ping that wobbled then went down for an Academy Award. Sure it was hilarious, but also tacky.

Its just rubs me the wrong way I guess. I think its disrespecting the competition. Sure its gonna be popular to his fans. I use to like boxing before. Never was a fan of the showboats. I couldn't stand to see Sugar Ray Leonard show boat, when he beat his opponents you might have thought he found a cure for cancer the way he would go about, but when Marvin Haggler beat him, all he did was raise his hand in victory. Now that's class. This is one reason why I like baseball, you try to showboat there or show up the opposition; and you can expect a ball to hit you dead square the next time you're at bat. Keeps things classy.

You cracked me up with this one Rog! And on your case I kind of enjoy and appreciate Rossi’s imagination and originality.

Jumkie, you know I fully respect you mate, and we are totally ‘amigos’ man. But I hope rule makers don’t start penalizing celebrations and get some bitter in it… please don’t let that happen.

On the riders’ side, well it also depends on the personality; Rossi grew on this kind of celebrations ever since 125cc, goes with a loose kind of happy attitude towards life itself I guess. A more serious or perfectionist rider may look weird with this stunts (Biaggi for example) and great with a just a flag as you mention. Anyhow, each of them applies a lot of their personality to it so please let’s not bitter it from our ‘fans’ side.

That's a fair post, I pretty much agree.
I see no reason why 'family Rossi' shouldn't enjoy themselves and their lives. If they can handle the disappointment when it all goes wrong, then why not.
I can see Jumkie's point about respect. With this in mind, the celebrations need to be, as I myself found this one......very funny............and skittle no.8 does deserve a BAFTA! There have been others which have left me a little cold.

Oh, and by the way, nothing here to compare to 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden. His celebrations were sheer joy, so much so he hardly knew what to do with himself!!!! Nicky's crazy dance across the track in Valencia is my lasting memory of 2006. Anyone who mocks this celebration is inconsiderate.

Right, where's that WRC thread!!!!!!!!!

you do make some good points there flunkie, i suppose some people just carry if off better. i agree about the boxing showboating, its just not what a martial artist does but i suppose its all part of the show.

calm down burky, mabe i am inconsiderate and im defenatly bias at times, but that dance just made my skin crawl, if i were him tho and had just won the championship i expect i would have done an even silly'er dance or as jumkie would have liked ,a quick wave and a brisk hand shake.

Nicky can come dance at me any day of the week...I surely wouldn't break his heart!!!!!

I thought it was funny and it was good to see Rossi looked relaxed and like he was having fun again but if the skittles were left over from Valencia 06 (where it should have been used) I wonder why Mr. Superstitious used it now? I would have expected him to can it or use it when he wins this year.

The celebration left me with a funny feeling, the same feeling I get when I've been forced to sit down and watch the opera winfery show with my mom.

I just dont see how any body can complain about NH when Rossi's parading around like Ronald Mcdonald and the Hambergler. Alot of times Rossi takes .... too far, like at Malaysia when the poor pedrobot, injured with a giant hole in his knee, struggling to even stand up and is so much agony! So what does the good natured Rossi do? pulls a friggin chair out and sits on it with his playtime muppet. If thats not un-sporting I dont know what is and If I were Dani, I would of drop kicked the two all the way down to the parc ferme.

Yes its all amusing and good natured most of the time but there's a level of professionalism that needs to be maintained by the riders/Rossi.

Electric MoFo for FIM President!

Where do I sign up for a campaign contribution?

FIM president? Hmmm thats sound really interesting. I can just imagine it, all the riders on 800cc beast and Rossi on a hamburger shaped trycycle. I'd be the best damn President ever!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>And you call him a “gracious” winner? What exactly was “gracious” about that? More like showboat to me.

Rossi is a gracious winner because this weekend for example he made a sinscere effort to shake pedrosas hand and congratulate him, he also often mentions in his interviews how well his competitors have performed.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>I can only think of one person on the entire grid, past or present, whos celebrations were more akin to a mini production rather than a victory lap.

I agree, it is outrageous to call Haydens celebrations over the top without first pointing that finger at other riders such as Rossi.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>you can hardly compare rossi's funny and inspiring productions as you call them to hayboys praysing the lord and balling his eyes out while doing some sort of dance that looked loke a 5 year olds tantrum. but i dont expect most hayden fans to appreciate rossis imagination and originality.

I agree these celebrations are mostly not comparable. Haydens celebrations are mostly a release of emtions and a display of the joy he gets from his achievement, a true "parade lap". Rossi's celebrations are a big extravagent show put on to entertain and thrill the fans who have paid their cash to come and see him win.

I love his extravagant celebrations..
