Laguna is not up to MotoGP standards despite all the changes done to improve safety this year, but it's not that bad, as long as there aren't any freaky accidents (like tires exploding or engines blowing and leaving oil on the track).

The MSMA (association of manufacturers) and DORNA (owner of MotoGP rights) are very interested in the US market, they wont allow the riders to boicott the race.

This has happened sometimes in the past but it's not likely tomorrow, in the past the circuits were extremely dangerous compared to Laguna Seca, and there were no big sponsors ready to sue the riders if they didn't to race.

So let's just enjoy the race and hope there are no nasty crashes.

Yes mate, lets hope no one hits the walls or goes down hard and I reckon its gonna be a blisterin pace!!

Being here and looking at some of the areas you realize that the track is not 100% safe in every area. I noticed it in turn 6 today as the run off room is very short because on the other side of the wall that encloses the run off area... is more or less a cliff. But if Kenny Jr. claims it's safe I will take his word because he knows more about what is necessary and what isn't. When I heard Rossi and Melandri's comments I was reminded of a quote that came from one of the early USGP's by one of the Americans (John Kocinski I believe) to Wayne Gardener after he complained about the track. "Well, what do you ride on in Australia? A red carpet?" Rossi says more changes need to be made for next years USGP, we shall see if Yamaha can afford to do it all over again.

i do believe i voiced my thoughts on laguna months ago concerning the safety factor and ooost u said it was fine, now u say its not thats scares meeeeeeeee

I think Laguna is always going to feel unsafe to them(riders) just cos its so daunting. Yes some of the walls could be pushed back but i honestly thought Rossi could have gone one or two better in the race. I thought he could have worked out Laguna whilst being sat behind Nicky or Colin. As Stavros said on BBC tho Rossi just didnt have that little bit extra at turn one and the corkscrew- places where you need blind faith

- something which you get from previous experience.

Anyway, im not taking anything away from Vales performance- he did the best he could, im just glad the Yanks had their day...

ur spot on ron, rossi could have pushed a bit more but it wasnt safe in his mind to do so cus if he did then no 3rd place 4 him, he looked unsure on how much to push..

I would agree with that, he was a bit slower especially in the corkscrew and probably due to a lack of experience and faith. Who knows how long it could take a guy like Rossi to come to grips with something like that. Being a huge supporter of safe tracks. Who knows, it's all strictly speculation.
