Rossi gives up on 2011 title?

After all this anti-Rossi blah blah some people here will have to eat their hats (or suck their socks) in case he turns out to be fast within the first few races of the season without having to turn the bike upside down.

I'm not saying he's gonna suck, I'm just saying he's downplaying it to cover his bases. I'm sure they've done enough "engineering" this past month to present him with 10 different solutions, that what it takes for him to win. You think the RD dept has got any sleep since the .... test? They give him every possible benefit and then some, but you guys insist 'its just Rossi--the goat'.

Would you like to see all Rossi interviews go like this then?

Interviewer: So you came last today, clearly riding with a dislocated shoulder is affecting you.

Rossi: No my shoulder is fine, I simply am a poor rider in my old age. I really should quit motogp as I can never win again as I am being scripted out.

Did you ever hear Nicky once mention his wrist being numb, without strength and felling during races this season? Answer: NO. And neither did I actually, and that's from a guy who holds his breath on every word Nicky utters.
<
Hell, I only learned about it when he was already going under the knife with Doc Ting.

Rossi has mentioned his shoulder without the interviewer having to bring it up enough to the point that the Mindless site it as the problem. That's pretty funny the way you put it Woodster, its dislocated at present, eh; I'm sure if the season goes south, by mid year you guys will be tellin us how the shoulder is dangling only by his skin. That is until he makes the podium or wins, then he's the hero, right?

I gotta hand it to Rossi, he is one savvy mofo.

So you're saying if he doesn't win we should stop supporting him?

I was exaggerating the injury like I exaggerated Rossi's answer - it's hypothetical remember. I should have said riding with a broken back instead of shoulder as you seem to have difficulty making the jump between my comment and reality...
<

Nicky is pretty good re not talking about his injuries and credit to him for that. I would like to know about Rossi's injury and the only way I can find out anything is through people talking about it. I don't think there is any harm in that. Rossi is downplaying his chances but he is still hungry. Are you still doubting that he had an operation at all?

I've been know to exaggerate for effect, should I spell it our when I do it?

No doubt he had an injury. I just don't think he was honest about it as its effect seemed to ebb and flow according to his results.

Do you think it's not possible that certain tracks would affect him a lot more because they require different body movements? Obviously where the shoulder affects him less, he will perform better and therefore get better results. I know that sounds convenient but surely it's reality?

rossi had a nagging shoulder injury pretty much all season last year, get over it.

with that said, i think lorenzo still would have won though

No racer, especially Rossi will just give up on the title, especially if it hasn't even started yet. What's more important is that key riders are in key teams that put more top riders in top teams. That makes everyone's competition, including Rossi's that much more stiff. Stoner, Pedrosa, and Lorenzo are given to be title contenders...but there are more this year. Dovi is riding for his future (and he's quick). I think the biggest thing is Spies, who will be instead of fighting for top 5, it'll be top 3, and it's another guy Rossi will need to deal with. So instead of the usual 4 guys running for the money, it's now 6, all on factory bikes. In that regard that's why he's downplaying it a bit, simply cause it's tougher competition this year and not so much about his personal team switch or injuries. The factory underdog would be Suzuki. With a one rider team, if they focus more on developing the bike (and since they pulled out of WSBK) they certainly have the rider to put that thing up front, Bautista aint no slouch.

Is this aimed at me? I have no issue with 2010 and the way it turned out. I just take exception to the way some people portray things.

Rossi knew what he was deciding when he signed for big bucks with Ducati.

Money(Ducati) or the title(Yamaha)....he took the money.

wasn't aimed at you woody, i'm talking to the rossi detractors...somehow a doctor talking about his injury isn't credible...

edit: if he somehow finishes better than any of the yamaha riders, there goes that logic!

BRING ON SEPANG!!!

Of course this is completely plausible, tracks where he got a good set-up on the bike or which suited the bike better would require less physical effort presumably, and also track configuration and the number and nature of turns would be influential. His conclusion after the valencia test that the ducati requires a lot of physical effort was hardly a new one either.

This also applies to injuries suffered by other riders in the past, but since the pendulum has swung to anti-rossi comments far past the point of over-kill I won't go there.

Not soo much as..... YOU'RE just a cynical bastaad.

But hey.... I also believed that Rossi purposely injured his leg and shoulder just to have an excuse on losing out to his teammate. Like I said, Rossi would go THAT far. Flame on.

Rossi has not given up on putting in 100% each race, but he has given up on the realistic thought that he can win the title because of the twin challenges of the bike and his shoulder. As the Ducati requires a "muscular" method of riding, having a weak shoulder would not seem to be the best way to approach a winning season. Riders like Neil Hodgson were unable to continue their riding careers due to a similar injury, so a similar scenario for Rossi is possible. And it doesn,t matter how much of a goat/superhero/riding god Rossi is, he will not be able to overcome a crook shoulder if the injury is as bad as it could be. Its a simple issue of biomechanics..............

Rossi is being a realist, not a defeatest. There is a HUGE difference. Boppers need to understand the difference.

Having said all that, I do not wish anything but a 100% recovery for him.

Who is this "you guys" you talk about?

Did you ever hear me saying GOAT about Rossi (or anybody else for that matter)?

The problem with you is that you talk mainly to yourself mate
<

About the famous shoulder: now that Rossi knows the real condition of his shoulder and speaks about it, you say he is covering his bases; but he downplayed it during the whole 2010 season, when he could really have used it as an excuse when Lorenzo was arriving in front of him, and you conveniently forget that.
