Among other interesting things, Michael Scott asked him what could be done to improve MotoGP. Rossi responded that a return to 990 would be much better. Interestingly, he argued that a complete absence or regulation of traction control, in his opinion, would put the focus more on the rider than present.

Good recommendation, IMO. Thoughts?

990s no tc,, i got to agree with that

Don't care either way really.

I don't think it will make the racing any closer and the cream of the riders will still rise to the top.

you dont think it would make it more entertaining? of course the best riders will still be at the top! Have you just started watching this year (serious question not trying to make fun)?

The right answer for him should have been "I'd like to come back to 2002". That's really what he dreams about!!

That is to say, back to 2002
<

Little electronics and big bang.
I think all the top riders - with the possible exception of Pedrobot - would agree with that, Stoner included.
Hayden for one would be overjoyed I'm sure!
I doubt mama Honda would allow it, though...

Why not go the whole way and make it a variation on the R6 cup idea ... put everyone on pre 2000 NSR500's ... mama Honda might be interested in that idea!

If not I know where I can find 5 of them only about 20 minutes from where I live ... they are in Mick's "trophy" room at his house
<
... they are looking pretty shinny too ... there was a photo in the local paper on the weekend!

This might help....... [attachmentid=2529]

i'd like to see an 800 with no TC first!

then maybe when the survivors have healed their broken bones, bump it back up to 990!

IMO, a 990 with no TC would be an easier proposition than an 800 with no TC. its all about where the torque is etc...

highside city methinks!

no grunt down low and then 230+ bhp all lands at the back tyre at once.
i reckon some serious air would be seen....

I ask because how did you not find lets say last year or any other year with 990 more exciting most fans and RIDERS would love to go back to them even an austrailian chris vermulen said the same!

totally agree with you... the 990 years were good. but lets give the 800s a fair shake before we call them crap. its only been one season, it could get a whole lot better....who can see the future with that much certainty?

I agree completely - NO TC! - whether it's 800 or 990 isn't the big issue. it should be a competition between riders & bikes. one tyre rule wouldn't be bad either. having said all that the idea of NO TC is an illusion - ducati, kawasaki, honda & suzuki are already building some TC into their 1000cc and bigger street bikes - it's going to be an issue of how much TC - and that's going to be the LESS the better

no more so than the 500s......... good........ get rid of tc! traction control should be in the wrist not in the wiring. it's good for street riders bad for racers. at least the good racers

At least one has high thoughts of himself.
