Did anyone else watch the award presentations and notice that Rossi had a Yamaha rep accept his second place medal for him?

I'm a big Rossi fan for sure, but this kind of rubs me the wrong way. I have no problem with him voicing his opinion about what happened, but to not show up to accept his award was surprising.

I think it's a fine line between simply expressing your disappointment and it becoming bad sportsmanship.

Opinions?

If what you are saying is true and there wasn't a valid reason...then yes, unsportsmanlike indeed.

It's definitely true, I watched it live and I forgot the guy's name who accepted for him, but he was Yamaha "brass" I believe.

I don't know if there was some reason that he was unable to be there, or just didn't want to.

I'm sure the press will pick this up at some point.

Rossi is trying to turn the paddock, fans, press and the other participants against JL and MM. He's done this before btw. This time however, I think it does more to diminish his standing and his accomplishments than it does damage to the other two. It's incredibly poor form. Rossi was beaten this year in just about ever metric by his teammate on similar machinery. Poles, wins, fastest laps, laps led.....everything.

He had a great season and challenged for the championship against the best competition he's ever faced. If it weren't for his behavior over that last 3 weeks I'd say he has nothing to be ashamed of. Instead, he looks childish nearing the end of his career.

Sadly, I have to agree with you. If he had acted in a different way over the last 3 weeks, he very well might have won the championship.

I'm stunned he didn't show up. He had an amazing season and a fantastic performance in today's race. He should have played the role of the bigger man, accepted his medal, and looked ahead to next year. I'll always think of him as one of the greats, but this does tarnish his image for me in a way.

Rossi has the right to be upset. He never act like this when he lost races or championships fare square on the track. I believe him and it's obvious that he lost the championship because of MM strategy.

Congratulations to Lorenzo! Rossi proved once again he is The Best!
Forza Vale!

Facepalm. How very Rossi as we've come to find out over the last 3 weeks

And I As well. It's really too bad. I think true Rossi fans dislike this behavior even more than the haters do, truth be told.

I am sorry, man. I always respected Rossi's talent. I never respected Rossi the person. As a human being he is utter scum. People act now so surprised but for me this is nothing new. Maybe because in my teenage years I knew several people that are exactly like him so he can't fool me.

This is pure bad sportmanship. In fact, he should have been happy that at least he still had a shot untill the very last lap of the last race. He deserved to be blackflagged in previous race. So he should go to the RD and thank them for it.

Exactly

I don't blame him. It's obvious that they didn't intend to pass Lorenzo and made a good show of "trying" to beat him.. Why did Danny suddenly have the speed to make up 1 second in a few corners, MM was protecting Lorenzo the to ensure Rossi did not win. I wouldn't have attended. Unsportsmanlike like... Yes, but to me MM is more unsportsmanlike.

Rossi fans are most definitely not disappointed about it! MM AND JL are 2 Spanish ....... wankers with zero charisma and ...... Vale over, who gives a .... about a plastic fake runners up medal? I'm sure Vale would happily turn up had he lost the title fair and square....

He knows Lorenzo has better pace, but consistency and consecutive podium finishes and riding in all conditions is also what championships are about.......!!! I'm sure Vale had better things to do tonight than sit there with blood boiling know what could have been.

Spanish corrupt ....... disgrace .... fest, .... that!!!

That's not what I saw on the TV :giggle:

Charisma means nothing in MotoGP. Speed matters. For charisma Spain has Enrique Iglesias. What charisma does Rossi have ? LOL. Big ears, fish eyes and the voice of a ..... ... strange definition of charisma you have. You make it look like an insult.

He lost it fair and square but he didn't show up.

Yes, listening to "Cry me a river".
