What the hell happened to this kid.  Last season I thought he was the next big italian rider.

He literally just dropped off the map

Carmelo and Spain rulezzz!

The younger (Italian) good rider is Petrucci! And then the older Iannone who is better.

Petrucci is very good rider but not for the next big one.

Iannone is this guy but he rides Ducati. Pramac Ducati :(

This is a KTM dominated championship and he has an noncompetitive Honda. There's nothing more to it really.

i know i run the risk of sounding like a total ....., but i believe a lot has to do with the perception of a honda not being capable of .... instead of the bike being utter crap.

not that i criticize the man (big fan), but i call it the krjr syndrom.

the honda engine lacks just a little bit at the top from what i know, up to 11k (ok admittedly that doesn't mean much) it should offer quite a bit more torque than the big bore ktm.

Yea, you could see it a couple rounds back when Fenati was running with the front group of KTM's he was dropped like a stone on the long straights.  If he moves up to Moto2 I think you'll see him toward the front again.

This.

Has the gap between honda to KTM in terms of performance widened even more this year?  Last year Vinales on a honda was still up there for the most part

The KTM's do seem to have the advantage this year.

Personally I'm guttted Fenati is so far off the pace.

I like the kid ;)

Not to my knowledge. Last significant update for the ktm engine was almost a year ago. There were plans to make the stroke longer but they stuck wwith the 81mm (which is way too much for the rev limit).

I suspect its more s case of the honda engine sucking in spite of last minute reg changes to their advantage ( rev limit reduced) than the ktm being so good.

Imagine how big the gap would be if the ktm could make use of the additional few top end hp it still has in reserve .bit surprised msma haven't ...... ktm out of competition by now by lowering the revs even more

That will change with the lower rev limit. Honda will be unassailable.

arrab, is this a windup for me or will they really drop another 1000 revs for next season?

if yes , ktm would best be advised to pack up and leave with 2 wc titles before they get the ducati treatment.

"<span style="color:rgb(58,59,62);font-family:Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;font-size:13px;With effect from 2015 the maximum revs permitted for Moto3 machines will be reduced from 14,000 RPM to 13,500 RPM and the timing chain replacement concession will be cancelled.

well .... you honda!

thx for the info mtorn, didn't know that

"msma ,which is another way to spell honda" - noyes. how right the man is.

Vinales certainly changed in competitiveness with the change in team. And sometimes both Mahindras finish ahead of the first Honda. hence I personally believe that it's mainly the Honda, and that some of the Honda riders would be mixing it up much nearer the front if they were on a KTM.

It does seem odd that some riders have dropped back. E.g. Khairuddin. And he hasn't changed bike or team. His age and experience profile doesn't seem to suggest that he would be going backwards right now.

DIdn't they already wrong-foot KTM with a rule change, but KTM came back even stronger once they adapted?

My suspicion is that KTM's engine design team is better than Honda's, and that they'll be able to compete in the long term.

Well there was no time and money to adapt , the ktm engine is just better even without some of its potential

Honda put together a 250 four-stoke production racer that could be raced in National classes. That is was behind the NSF. Just like they and Yamaha did with the 125s up till they killed them off.

Aprilia 125s only started turning up in those classes (at least in Australia) when they were uncompetitive everywhere else. I see a similarly with KTMs.

I really wonder what is going on with Zulfahmi, he was showing a lot of promise last season, this year he's nowhere, not even top 10
