Repsol threatens to quit MotoGP over "premeditated" Rossi "kick"

Story is already getting ravenous replies on crash.net. Funny how a lot of posters on there are calling to boycott Repsol products when they clearly have no idea that Repsol is an oil/petroleum company.

They werent too amused when I told them they'd have to give up their car, heating, any plastic products (including what wraps their food and dicks)....

Repsol sponsor the HRC factory team, a couple of lower class teams, and I dont think they sponsor any of the races....they may give some money to the championship overall....so them pulling out would mostly harm MM and Dani from what i can see.....

Doesn't really sound like a great strategy to penalize they guy they think was hurt by the incident....by no longer sponsoring his team....

Does Repsol give more or other monies to the championship?

lol...people underestimate how much of their everyday products require petroleum in some form.

I'm pretty sure Repsol is running this angle for Honda so Honda can be seen as not getting involved. It's a backdoor thing.

I think it's about the long-term implications of a Repsol sponsorship pullout.

Now that they've put this in the arena, it could open the door to Honda going to Dorna and saying that if their sponsorship gets pulled because of what happened in Sepang, they may consider pulling out of MotoGP altogether.

The levers of pressure are starting to get pulled.

I would assume it's just a tactic from Honda to make sure Dorna doesn't give into any pressure to remove Rossi's penalty due to him threatening not to race at Valenica. It's all BS, but extremely childish on both sides. The Pope needs to get involved. :D

wtf is up with these ppl. is there someone out there that should decide what happens and everyone has to say, OK . i thought they clarified the fact that it wasnt a kick and.....,
so get on with it,

..... fest out there;
i wont start the race cuz they penalized me,
we quit cuz he kicked our kid,
and on and on ....

although there might bigger point to repsol in this one that we are not aware of.

wtf.

Because they are all divas with massive egos....

This of course was totally acceptable, despite actually being premeditated...

I think you are right, but I also dont think it will work.... HRC still have provide Moto2 engines, and are already under contract to race in 2016....so really the threat is just an empty one.....unless the want to go to court with Dorna over it, as well get sued by MM, Dani, Rabat, Miller and Cal...

Its all just Spanish hot air at this point....and if its not hot air then perhaps it is the excuse Repsol has been looking for to pull out of MotoGP anyway.....Oil prices have been down most of year, so their bottom line must be lower than they like already....so jumping out of GPs under the excuse of unsportsmanlike conduct give them a dignified way out without making it about money.....

All this over a ....... motorcycle race.. Nuts...

I think that this is some sort of payback to VR over something that the knives are coming out.

Since there are those of us who have been well aware for a long time of VR's dark side on the circuit, none of this has been any real surprise that he would lash out the way he did in Sepang from Thursday thru Sunday.

It's even less of a surprise to those who are inside MotoGP.

My guess is he has done things that never made it out from behind closed doors, but there are long enough memories involved where it was never forgotten. This may be less about Sepang --yes it's being cited as the main issue-- and more about a whole bunch of past deeds.

It's a bluff. Never gonna happen. Honda have nothing to gain. I can't believe this came from a reliable source.

Not to mention it was during practice (anyone complaining about Rossi buzzing JL during practice starts?)
Nor did it affect the race (remember that one?)
Nor was our friend 14 in the title hunt.

Crappy behaviour, though.
ouchy wouchy.

I am sure Rossi would have been more than happy to pay $5000 fine rather than starting the race last.

Hey Inam!

Another blast from the past! It's great seeing all these old names up here on the boards. Rossi should do .... like this more often. It's like Old Home week here.

Doesn't matter practice or race, if you do some thing silly like this then it should get punished strictly. IMO both riders got off lightly by RD.
