rd 1 qatar

The first race is not ideal for Rossi on Bridgestones with the low temperature.

I predict another random start... then we'll have to see.

If the Michelins last i put my money on Lorenzo to win first time out!

Average Odds at present

Stoner 11/10 (
<
<
Some agencies were even 4/5
<
)
Valentino Rossi 4
Jorge Lorenzo 8
Daniel Pedrosa 12
Hayden, Nicky 16
Toseland 26

So ok you will be even lucky to get someone to bet against Stoner for the win LOL

Betting odds before the first race mean absolutely diddly squat and you know it.

Try these odds on for size (from Bwin.com March 5th 2007)

Rossi 1.75
Pedrosa 4.25
Capi 12.0
Hayden 15.0
Edwards 15.0
Melandri 17.0
Stoner 22.0

And in order to compare apples with apples, Bwin for this year today

Stoner 1.9
Lorenzo 5.0
Rossi 8.0
Hayden 9.0
RDP 12.0
Pedrosa 12.0
Toseland 14.0

As others said, odds at this time doesn't mean much, and I dont know much about odds but I think the idea is that you multiply them and your tripple should end up at about 250 because of JT. With Rossi or Dani in there it would end up from 50 to 100 depending on where you put them and Lorenzo.
I wouldn't even dream of taking Stoner out of the equation if that's what you thought. It's the other two I'm questioning. Also my guess is that Lorenzo won't look as good Saturday night. There are a few others that have more comming, just wait and see. Dont be surpriced if your lucky three end up at 500 in odds. That should be worth betting on, or?

1. Stoner
2. JT
3. Rossi
4. Lunatic
5. Dovi
6. Pedro
7. CEII
8. Hayden
9. DeAngelis
10. Hopper
11. Vermin
12. Loris
13. Marco generates Random number as usual
14. lady boy Shinners
15. Guintoli
16. West
17. Elias CRASH
18. DePuniet CRASH

The Suzuki proves it is a nail. JT rides a miracle race. DePuniet crashes as does Elias. I put Rossi at 3 on reputation only. I really think he has a problem with the cold and will finish lower that that, or, DePuniet qualifies high and has a massive wreck and takes Rossi and others with him. Dovi on '07 Valencia spec Honda beats the Repsol boys (but still comes in behind Lorenzo just like old times)

250's - Aoyama
125- BRADLEY!!!!!!

Funny to see how the argument seems to have changed since that post a month ago on odds. I believe it was me pointing out that odds mean little
<
<
<

Its also funny to see whats happening with Lorenzo
<
his odds are on a skyrocket!! When I looked yesterday he was 3rd in the WC hopes stake and second in the qatar stakes! .... bu in the space of a day, if your figures are right, he has gone to second in the WC odds! ...... am I reading what you posted correctly??

I can't figure out that BWIN stuff!! ... wh yis that such a different layout/odds/options from all the other betting agencies?

I found this a bit more understandable :
http://www.oddschecker.com/motor-sport/mot...ship/win-market

What are all the 3 options in BWIN?? +6. +10 etc.??

I find it all a bit confusing too but stoner seems to be close to even money which is crazy in a sport where crashes are frequent and can drastically affect a rider's chances. Stoner has already had a significant shoulder injury from a pre-season crash.

Even money! .... I saw 4/5 last night ...... whats that?? ..... are they paying us not to bet on him LOL those are crazy odds allright ..... its like saying "ok we know Stoner will win but .... well the others also have odds too ..... " ........ which is kinda spooky to me ...... its Stoners to loose .... hope he doesn't go back to crashing
<

yeah gee the confidence in him has gome up!! .... but meh ..... wait till each round plays out ...

well bookmakers dont just consider individual races. they consider the season as a whole.

yes stoner may not win this race, but over the length of the season, he would probably win at least half of the races in the season. thats not unreasonable. considering he won 10/16 last year?
thats a 62% winning ratio. and he has already proved hes going faster this year than the same time last year.

I was actually talking about the whole season , which I had assumed the markets were for. I think stoner should be favourite for the season, just that nobody should be even money when an accident in any individual race possibly not even due to his own error can take out any rider for several races or even the whole season.

I like how some of you rate JT that high. Just today that I feel like putting a bet on JT getting a podium in his first race. I can feel it in my body that he will get his first podium. Anyway here are my top 3 predictions.

1st: Casey Stoner

2nd: Valentino Rossi

3rd: James Toseland

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (The Fizz @ Mar 6 2008, 08:25 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I like how some of you rate JT that high.

Well Toseland started out his testing going pretty poor ..... then got better .... then got better again .til l in the night tests he was one of the front runners!

So really in terms of a learning curve he is looking like he should run away with the win next time he rides at Qatar!! .... but moderation tells us to just be consevative in our estimates.

But also, when compared to Toseland, Lorenzo has had a pretty "neck and neck" "head to head"
<
<
performance in testing ..... but I guess the fact you don't have him in there as being parochialism??

Thank you guys for bringing up the betting aspect..
I've found the answer finally....
<

Valentino Rossi is a gambling addict!
<

He bet against himself at the last race in 2006... He lost a title but won zillions
<
)
He bet on himself in 2007... This time he simply lost. Then the tax men came...
<
(.

This time, he decided he had lost enough. Time to to win it big.
He' been keeping a low profile. He just pretended to be slow in Qatar.
You'll see the big surprise next Sunday - he's going to win!
<

Go, bet on him!!! Don't believe it? Ok, but don't say nobody told you...
