rd 1 qatar

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (J4rn0 @ Feb 20 2008, 04:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I know he is a champ, but we are speaking of Qatar, not of the whole season, and that will be his first GP race ever... So speaking of this upcoming race, I doubt he can do better than experienced GP riders. Maybe I'm wrong, after all these new GP bikes are easier than the old ones, but so far we have never seen riders coming from superbike or similar arrive in GP races and shine immediately. We'll see. No doubt he will improve over the season and I would not be suprised to see him on the podium before the end of the season.
<

Bayliss ,in his first season in motoGP , DID shine immediately.

How about this:

Race 1: Suzuka- 5th
Race 2: Kyalami- 4th, after leading for half the race and dicing aggressively with Rossi over many laps mid-race
Race 3; Jerez: Missed pole by 0.01 secs and finished on podium . How about that!

2006 Valencia -as we all know; 2 years off a motogp Ducati and not familiar with Bridgestones- and gets a flag to flag win. If Ducati didn,t get lost in developing their 2005 bike, Bayliss would have been a championship contender.

I wish people would not continue with the superbike riders being inferior argument. Sure, there are more good riders in motogp, but a top superbike rider may be quite competitive in motogp. Its the learning of the tracks and adjusting to the new machinery that takes time.......
Is Toseland as good as Bayliss? I,m not sure, but he may end up doing better on gp bikes. All I am saying is don,t count him out.

Yes... that was remarkable of Bayliss. But very few SBK riders have been as good as him in GP, and if you compare even that to Biaggi's or Cadalora's wins at their very first appearance in a GP 500 race, or the excellent showings of Pedrosa and also Stoner (...but for the crashes) in their first MotoGP year, then you understand why it has been - so far - widely accepted that GP 250 is a better school for the premier class than superbike. That is why I expect Lorenzo and Dovi to do better than JT in their rookie year, or at least in the first few races. This said, everything is possible...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (phleg @ Feb 20 2008, 11:29 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Not really.

He's proved himself at national level, what basis is that for a factory moto gp ride, or that he is an extraordinary talent ? Why doesn't he hop up to the WORLD stage and prove that he'll be the one to take Suzuki to their first dry weather Moto gp win?

How did I miss this?

How many motogp champions have come out of world superbike?

How many motogp world champions have come out of AMA superbike?

WSBK is the end of your chances at a motogp title.

And don't suggest 125 or 250, no modern American male would embarrass himself in front of the entire planet on a girls bike.

They are fun to trick around on at home or on the random track day. But openly admit in front of the entire planet that you are the best 250 rider in the world? During the 4-stroke era? I think not.

While you're at it, why not suggest you have the prettiest dress at the ball as well? Kill two birds with one stone, I say.

1. How many motogp champions have come out of world superbike? NONE
2. How many motogp world champions have come out of AMA superbike? ONE (Nicky Hayden - 2006)

Bwahahahahaha! That's pretty damn funny remark. Tell that to Keny Roberts, John Kocinski, Stevie Bonsey, who either support those classes highly or in the case of John, was the only American rider to succeed in those classes.

Who gives a .... if the bike is a 2 or 4 stroker. Look as the one's recenely who kicked ... like Lorentho or Stoner or Pedrobot, during the 2-4 stroke era, they have came into MotoGP and took names or will likely do. You kicked ... in front of the GP crowd. The teams, the factories. I agree with the pundits and people who say Nicky struggled on the 800 last year was partly to blame because he had no expeience on such a small bike. He has had 600 experience, but that is nothing compared 800cc Grand Prix killers. His Honda in 600 was about 60% stock. MotoGP is 100% custom. Comparing the two is like comparing your wife to the whore you slept with while you were supposed to be at work. One is smooth and soft, the other rough and hard. The 600 was the wife, and the 800 is like the whore.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BarryMachine @ Feb 20 2008, 02:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Stoner definite top three ...... don't know what place though?

the other two hmmm????

Not:

West
Elias
Guintoli
Nakano
Hopkins
De Angelis
Edwards
Vermulen ( unless rain )
Capirossi
Melandri
Dovi.
Maybe Toseland

So I guess the other two Places are out of

Pedrosa
Hayden
Rossi
Lorenzo
Maybe Toseland

Ok after testing at Qatar I'm going to have to drop Rossi and Pedrosa and replace them with De Puniet, Hayden can still stay there .... but he's teetering!
<
<

But I'm thinking more like its going to be

Stoner ( Still doing it on race tyres )

Lorenzo (he's on the best bike out there and has the best/winningest team behind him, and it shows ....... just hope he drops the after race Panto's though
<
)

and

hmmmm?? .... out on a limb .... Tozeland ( this guy is the dark horse
<
....... and not a dark Clydesdale I hope
<
<
) Keep him away from a full factory machine!! .... or he's tearaway!!
<

Bump... closing up rapidly on chances to pick and be given credit.
<

Can't wait!

I don't care what I predicted before:

Head:

1. Casey
2. Dani
3. Rossi

Heart:

1. Casey
2. JT
3. Jorge

Going by testing it looks like both Casey and Vale will be starting from the 2nd or 3rd row.
Michelin qualy tyres seem a lot better than Bridgestones but I think that the advantage goes the other way on race tyres. Will stick with my original pick for now.

Stoner, Lorenzo, JT....
You wanna put your money where your moth is on that one?

Umm ... no

..... motogp is not something I'd ever "wager" on .... if I ever "wagered" on anything

I've said what I said .... putting money on it will mean bugger all

If you have difficulty with that maybe explain your picks, or give reasons why my picks are no good.

Tell you what instead of the "wager", you so think would more legitimise my picks, why don't we just say ... if I'm wrong you will belittle and berate me ad-nauseum.

Besides I don't know where my moth has got to.

I think stoner and rossi will still be up there in qualifying. Whilst the michelin qualifying tyres appear better, stoner and particularly rossi are very good at qualifying. I don't think either of them put any emphasis on the qualifying tyres during testing.

Never heard that before!!

There are agencies out thre for those desperate enough to want to wager on "stuff" why don't you flex your BS or NOT BS muscles with them

All you will get from me is what I have said ..... any more than that is not reallyy worth the logistics

Let me guess, it's funny because both Yams were rated above Valentino 'The Only Man Who Can Make a Yamaha Work, It's True I Swear!' Rossi?

My "cryptic" picks:

1. "Pot Smoker" from down under on the red bike
2. Small Spanish guy everyone "loves" so much
3. The Italian fellow with the really large fan base

My BS! Youre the one who clarly are full of nothing but BS. BS that not even you belive in.

I've suspected this for quite a while. You often come with spectacular predictions but it's clearly nothing insightfull and serve no other purpose than provoking. A troll as good as anyone.

Rated? You're not seriously calling barry's ravings ratings?

Because you disagree with him it make them ravings?

I see no reason why Lorenzo couldn't podium at his first ever race. Both Biaggi and Pedrosa accomplished it.

Sure Lorenzo could, I'm not writing that totally off, but to set to rookies on the podium on their first race, one of them on a customer bike is more than a loong shot to me.

YMMV
