If you have been studying JT's race pace and stint times, you'd find he's MUCH more consistent over long runs compared to the others rookies from the PI to the latest Jerez test.

Capirossi has done nothing so far to suggest he'll be anything other than midpack to me.

So who's this S. Pies then?

Sounds like he needs to go on a diet.

Toseland could hardly have been more impressive so far. He is a cool guy and I would like to see him do well. I think he will do at least well enough to allow him future opportunities on better equipment. How well he does this year will depend on how good his bike and tyres are particularly as the season progresses. Top 5 might be possible early on, as I think michelin won't be stinting with tyres.

I know he is a champ, but we are speaking of Qatar, not of the whole season, and that will be his first GP race ever... So speaking of this upcoming race, I doubt he can do better than experienced GP riders. Maybe I'm wrong, after all these new GP bikes are easier than the old ones, but so far we have never seen riders coming from superbike or similar arrive in GP races and shine immediately. We'll see. No doubt he will improve over the season and I would not be suprised to see him on the podium before the end of the season.

I agree...anyone can win at 'home'...

I rewatched the race from last year.

Stoner nailed everyone on the straight... Rossi was miles better than him on the turns.

The yamaha looked the better bike to me... if they have got an extra 5 ponies like they said and Rossi can stay with him on the straight then its pretty omonous.

i hope the yam got more acceleration this year to for other races, the ducati had the fastest acceleration and out of the corner acceleration last year and the fastest top speed.

Bayliss rode for Ducati in 2003/4 and Honda in 2005 in MotoGP. In 2004 he placed 3rd at Valencia.

He'd still had a year out, and that was long enough.

But hey, we all know SBK riders suck.

Not really.

He's proved himself at national level, what basis is that for a factory moto gp ride, or that he is an extraordinary talent ? Why doesn't he hop up to the WORLD stage and prove that he'll be the one to take Suzuki to their first dry weather Moto gp win?

C'mon, you cannot have forgotten that Bayliss had been in the factory Ducati team in MotoGP before 2006...

You're right. I thought Toseland was European but hell, no, he's English and never raced in the Continent

The Yam has improved on the straights since then, but so has Stoner in the turns. I'm sure Rossi would love to face that 2007 Stoner instead of this one, who's harder to beat...

thats probably because he(stoner) didnt have to push nearly as hard as rossi did through the corners, seeing as he could make up the time and some by halfway down the straight....
risking it all needlessly was not in stoners gameplan and it showed us the determination that he had to win.
as for the yamaha looking better, it may have done but who cares what your bike looks like when it can make scrutineers double check to make sure it actually was an 800...

will rossi's suzuka 8hr experience give him an advantage in this night race ?
which other riders have had night racing experience ?
