Nothing's wrong with that... BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT YOU SAID in your original post....

I've often wondered that, but then, correct me if I'm wrong - this category of tyres- which were selected and now comprise the control, were originally purposefully engineered for Ducati. Do they still have a slight advantage, in that the bike has evolved around them?

Mmmmmm, Stoner races against himself once more. Dont think he will have it all his own way though. It was to be expected at this circuit.

Or maybe yes, if you look at the hole season...

You are correct sir... give the man a cigar!

exactly what i was thinking because most of the data would be from ducati and some from yamaha last season.

how do they make a tyre to suit all bikes if other teams where running michelin?

btw this isnt a post to say stoner won cos tyres are for him.... i asked this same thing weeks ago.

well we ended last season with a parade & started this year with one. going to be a stoner/rossi fight for the championship with lorenzo, dovi, pedrochio & dare i say it...
<
edwards (maybe) to fight for 3 thru to 5th with maybe cappers in with a shout. kallio looks to be in good shape & the next best ducati man & probably the next factory ducati man next season. before his run off the track melandri was looking pretty good & maybe if he keeps it up he can convince kawasaki to put some effort back into this project. looks to me like fausto needs to give the better machine to deangelis instead of elias. well we were all wrong when it came to whos gonna be the 1st to crash... cappers takes the prize & not everyones favorite rdp. tosland, takahashi, canepa & nicky all in big trouble. sete..... well.... sete is sete. ah it's still early days bring on motegi!!!

No not at all, I judge you on the basis of each individual post. It's just that every post you make is complete ..........keep trying.

Casey didn't slow down. Rossi put the hammer down, closed the gap, Casey responded to the information on his pit board. But I agree, he managed the race well.

Good to see that there is no issue with the wrist or fitness.

They don't
<
they make a tyre and the bikes adjust to it... So the longer you've had to adjust...

To answer my own question, the gap between Stoner in first, and Lorenzo in third was about a kilometer - with Rossi sandwiched in between. And there was me questioning why Vale pretended to nod off at the start of the post race interview

Which is exactly what it's taken Suzuki so long to comprehend

Pos Rider Bike Time
1. Casey Stoner Ducati 42m53.984s - First as expected. Good start for the title hunt
2. Valentino Rossi Yamaha + 7.771s - Was more behind than I expected, won't be easy...
3. Jorge Lorenzo Yamaha + 16.244s - Was right were expected, good race, but it takes more to win
4. Colin Edwards Yamaha + 24.410s - Underlines the good form of Yamaha... Just not enough for Stoner
5. Andrea Dovizioso Honda + 27.263s - I guess the tires failed him, still a decent result
6. Alex de Angelis Honda + 29.883s - Well done, but hitting Pedrobot was a bit rude
7. Chris Vermeulen Suzuki + 33.627s - Decent result for Suzuki, only slightly slower than the Honda's
8. Mika Kallio Ducati + 34.755s - Great debut. The non-Stoner-Ducati's are still too much behind though (as always)
9. Toni Elias Honda + 39.481s - Ok
10. Randy de Puniet Honda + 42.284s - No crash, niiiice
11. Dani Pedrosa Honda + 48.526s - Is injured, got hit, rode ok, will do better later on
12. Nicky Hayden Ducati + 48.883s - Has to do better, I'd consider 12th here to be right what I expected after the crash though.
13. Sete Gibernau Ducati + 52.215s - I wonder if he'll be around here for whole season
14. Marco Melandri Kawasaki + 56.379s - Despite the mistake got some points so well done
15. Yuki Takahashi Honda +1m00.286s - Token Japanese
16. James Toseland Yamaha +1m14.978s - Not good
17. Niccolo Canepa Ducati +1m15.028s - too slow

Retirements:

Rider Bike Laps
Loris Capirossi Suzuki 7 - Maybe next time.

What do you mean? It was the best race of the season so far!

After all the waiting in the off season, and the pissing about last night, this was a bit of a let down. Expected closer racing throughout the field with the spec tyre, not just mid pack. Still Qatar race is one of a kind and you cant read an awful lot into it. Roll on some nice, warm day races so that we can really see how the season will go.

the other tech 3 machine is going to waste in my opinion... best sattelite bikes on the grid. toseland wont be at yam next season or motogp unless he sorts himself out.

He might be on a Ducati in GPs....there seems to be plenty going and at least 2 will be free next year...
