i was so close to $75 .... bloody Hayden should've pushed for first ..

Hayden did push, but you should know by now Kat, one Rossi pushes, Hayden might as well stop..... Unless he`s on his home turf.

Hey, who thinks Rossi still has the ''dominant team mate'' psychological edge on Hayden, even though its been more than 2 years since they shared a pit?

If you put a man down for long enough he stays down. Rossi has that advantage over a lot of guys in the paddock. When he was closing on Stoner during the race, Casey's pit crew just signalled the time gap, not who was chasing him, could have been for the same reason. I wouldn't want to know it was Rossi if I was him and to be fair to him I never saw him look back, he just kept his head down. Good boy.

he's got it over all of em. let's face it, this is the 1 step, as a motogp racer, yer gonna have to take consistantly to be champion while rossi is still ridin.thats a tall order. this is the enormous psychological edge he has over all of them.

It could have been a lot closer than 0.9 if Hayden didn't have that big slide in the final left hander. I know I'm sounding like a disciple but I don't think Rossi had Hayden under control the way he's had Hayden, Melandri, Gibernau or Biaggi in control in the past. There was more aggression from Hayden than I've ever seen from him on the RCV. He's real close to his first victory off home soil and being a consistent challenger. Sounds like the 2006 RCV is starting to come good, should be a real threat come the end of the season.

Anyone got a pic of rossi looking back at loris after being taken over by hayden on turn 1?

would be a very smart move if they did it purposefully ... gibbers crew should take notes there

I can remember Melandri saying he told his pit crew to do the same last year, but when he saw the gap drop like Sete`s fuel gauge at Brno, he kinda figured out who was behind him

Casey said through the first part of the race he couldn't see his pit board anyways, I think it was with the last handful of laps that he finally saw it, probably about the time Gibernau was stalking him.

Gotta admit, in Sete`s case, to be riding carefully and finish in the top five is pretty good. He just needs some time to ged used to the bike. That Duke is fast, but it reqires a lot of finesse. I think if he adapts well to the Duke, and regains the confidence he lost last year, he could be a race winner again. But Gibbers seems to have a pretty negative attitude these days, that wouldn`t help.

Hats off to Sete. I think we'd have seen a less cautious race from him in Jerez if things were different. We're gonna see some good stuff from him when we get to Europe.

Personally I find it fascinating watcing Rossi now he's not the super kid we've all marvelled at last few years. He's older, not on the best bike, and there's all these great kids as well as the old dogs chomping at the bit to trump him. Boy, did he want that win. I was impressed with Hayden I must say, pretty ballsy ride, but as you guys have said, he's gotta get a couple of wins to push on.

Hayden`s been stalking that top spot in both races. I think he might be one to watch at his ''good'' tracks like Germany, PI and Laguna.
As for Rossi. I have no idea what it`d be like to watch him wash up and become a has-been. He`s always seemed so invincible. Rossi`s been at the top since I started following this sport, and I can`t imagine what it would be like to see him fail. It`d be no doubt interesting, but to kids like me a very foreign experience.

There was something very 'Doohan-like' about Rossi's response to Nicky's pass in Qatar. That's what makes him such a hard guy to beat consistently. My opinion of Nicky is changing since I watched the qatar race again and since I've been hanging out here. it would be great to see him able to take it to Rossi on a more regular basis. Whatever's been said about him and that new RCV may turn out to be completely wrong, he gave a damn good account of himself against a very determined Valentino and that has to be a good sign. When I got into GP's it was Mick and Alex Criville jousting for the wins and it was awesome. If we could have Valentino, Nicky and a few others all this year wouldn't it be great?

Nicky did only take one win last year, but his consistency was a big improvement. And that`s what he was aiming for anyway. And he`s carried it into the new season. Apart from Caparossi, he`s the only rider to have been on the podium in both races. Pretty damn consistent if you ask me. I think he can build on last year and take some more wins. Maybe Ooost`s theory about Mick Doohan and Nicky Hayden being late bloomers is right.
