There is no way he is going to last a race on the animal that is HRC Honda. His strength isnt there.

Put that against trying to pass Crutchlow who wont let the 12 yr old pass him and you got a reciepe for some big ... crashes.

Imo i think his going to hurt himself within 5 races.

Didn't people say the same thing (strength wise) about Pedrosa?

I have MM in 6th SB will beat him with consistancy. As someone pointed out a very Lorenzo like first season. Fast and some podiums then the crashes start, settle down near the end.

5 podiums

4 DNFs

+1. If pedro can do it so can marquez.

i said 4th.......

He adapts very quickly, as we saw his transition from 125cc to moto2....he will be fast quickly but will make mistakes. Anyway i think as much as people dont like him (i'm not one of them) he will be a nice addition to motogp and hopefully will liven things up a bit.

If Marquez goes about motogp the way he does moto2 at the moment he will get hurt. He tends to just push and push in practice and always seems on the edge. I'm not too worried about his strength, he can train for that and is taller than Pedrosa anyway. I think he'll be fast but crash too much, like Lorenzos first season but perhaps less extreme in both cases. That is why i expect him to sit behind the big three in the no mans land between them and the rest of the pack. Having said that Bradl and Dovi might push him pretty hard

no doubt about that, with stoner gone and spies flushing his career down the toilet we need a new talent up there and marquez fits the bill.

agree with toms take, except for the dovi part...

can't imagine him going well on the duc,no better than hayden i expect

I thought that about Toms post on Dovi.

But after thinking about it he may be right,

I mean Dovi has been honda through and through his career untill this season, but made the switch to a yam pretty quick and in his post race interviews in the early stages of the year he was all "I'm adapting my style, this way, that way and every other way" now he's all about "finding more grip and the set up" this sort of suggests that he has the ability to adapt style to machine.

I think only the machine could realistically stop him been in the top 3-4 regularly after he's settled.

just my 2 peneth worth

I predict a lot of crashes. Him and Ben Spies can sit in the pits together for half of each race after they both crash out!

true, i personally think that the gp guys are riding gods that can ride anything, and anything well.

but with the switch to yamaha i thought it was a match made in heaven, dovi the ultra precise and smooth 250 style rider on a machine that was built for precisely that.

a switch to ducati (IF the gp13 is anything like the gp3-11) sounds like a disaster, even more so than with rossi.

i'd love to be proven wrong as i really like dovi and most of all i'd be very happy to see a 3rd manufacturer upfront.

especially with their new strategy of fielding 4 factory bikes this could change the nature of motogp if they succeed.

3 manufacturers fielding 4 equal bikes each would be a great formula until suzuki and hopefully bmw come in, who knows about aprilia...

i wouldn't be surprised if they stopped the full factory effort in wsbk and decided to step up their ART programme.

what i would have found very interesting would be marquez vs espargaro in motogp, sadly i think the latter will (as in moto2 right now) not be on the same great bike as his rival.

the kalex being the class of the field as i read elsewhere?no way IMO, too many suters upfront and its obvious that kalex build one good bike for everybody to use, suter really do have a lead rider.and their (i'm hesitating to use the word but i'll just do it) satellite riders don't do too bad anyway.

heres to hoping pol gets a good bike in 2014....

I'd agree with that, especially in the early part of the season.

However I do think Dovi will get his head around it first out of the two of them.

agreed! well balanced post Man.

Also Crazy Joe, Dont know why but i have a feeling he could do well towards the latter part of next season.

But expect some crashes early on.

But I think he has the ...... to really push it to the absolute limit,

Something not seen at ducati ATM IMO.

I'm not prepared to count Dovi out for a top 4 spot just yet. We know he is a consistent, fast and adaptable rider, if not a regular winner. I also think it's reasonable to expect him to lead the Ducati team. I have faith that VW/Audi will have a positive impact on Ducati's motogp effort, for me it's just a question of when the improvement will trickle down into results.

i think until there are some major improvements/changes to the bike, dovi will show similar results to the current riders. It comes down to just how he rides IMO. Hopefully im proven wrong

I agree, however Spies's own current form is flattering the Ducatis, next season that will be one more Factory Yamaha way ahead of them.

They've had one successful rider pairing in ten years, which was short lived. And now they've also boned Hector, which isnt very nice.

Audis influence will be interesting, however after the attempted hiring of Masao went south, I still feel Ducati are a full season behind. Money and resources will help speed up the process, but they clearly need to change their entire approach.

The boy is a bit special so I think he'll have the same impact as Lorenzo did in his rookie season.

1. Jorge

2. Dani

3. Rossi

4.Crutchlow

5.Bradl

6.Marquez

This all could change based on the "New" Ducati.

One race should not make us jump to conclusion but if the Audi-Ducati can get more upgrades coming faster..then:

1. Jorge

2. Dani

3. Rossi

4. Crutchlow

5. Dovi

6. Spies

7. Bradl

8. Marquez

3rd he will be very quick from the first round and constantly on the podium and there is a good chance he will get his first win early on.

Before i get shot for this remember Biaggi blew Doohan away with his first ride on a 500 and i rate MM that highly also MGP bikes are closer in riding style to a Moto2 than 250s were to 500s.

You really think Spies on a 'junior' Ducati will be beating Bradl on a 'junior' HRC or Marquez on the full-fat factory bike? I can't see Ducati giving the Pramac team the same gear as the factory team - having Spies and Iannone beating Hayden wouldn't go down well with Marlboro.

Somehow I think we will be seeing a repeat of 2012 form for Spies, with perhaps a few less breakages.

As we have seen time and again, to be up the front, as well as being a great rider, you have to have the right kit. The LCR will be a better package next season and Repsol will continue their top form.

He's quick no doubt about it but you're talking about consistency. He may have a slow start like he did last yr in Moto2 and then rocket away. Or he may do a Lorenzo and lose confidence after a string of crashes and take time to get competitive again.
