Pre-Season TESTING 2013-2014

No idea - something that you Brits do in car parks and forests, apparently. It was all over the news for a while.

Maybe it's like badger-baiting, but with different dogs?

Well i served in the British army in the 80's. You may call them misguided, i call them terrorists. Maybe if some of these "misguided" New yorkers  had come with us down the Falls road they would have seen there funding going to "good" use.
they were all glorious freedom fighters until the US saw terrorism on there own turf then the funds dried up funny old thing

It was a complicated issue with many contradictions. But at the end of the day between the late 60's to 98 around 3530 people lay dead and over 50,000 casualty's. That's a lot of bullets and bombs that were paid for by somebody !

How much did you put in the bucket kesh ?

It depends on how far back in history you want to go Roger, rather more people than this died of starvation in the potato famine, whilst the plentiful other crops being produced in Ireland at the time were exported. Then there were the Black and Tans, and Bloody Sunday.

These are historical matters now and as I have said don't justify support of murderous criminals like the modern IRA, for whom their operation was an end in itself imo, like most similar entities. I think the Pythons were perceptive and perhaps prescient in their lampooning of such groups, viz the conflict in "Life of Brian" between the "Judaean People's Front" and the "People's Front of Judaea".

Yup, you're not wrong. Thankfully very different now. My Lord Admiral great grandfather lost the lot gambling i'm told. Would have been nice to inherit a country estate with some sexy maids, but fate told me i had to earn it myself . may not have the maids but i do own a large house , kids at uni and half a bottle of rum. Just wish i hadn't had to work so hard to get it. Gambling low life scum ...... me. lol

You have a sexy maid. And I have the pic to prove it.

Yeah, setting up comms/computing for the Regional Support Team for Oxfam. They are there already, but have little in the way of comms outside a mobile. Got three offices to set up - Cebu, Tacloban and Samar - Cebu should be a doddle, but Tacloban and Samar still have bodies in the street and washing up on the shore. And no reliable electric/water/sewage. There is a real shortage of food - there is around 500tonnes sitting on the ground in Cebu, but Leyte (the island with Tacloban/Samar) has no roads left, no trucks, no fuel to distribute.

Maybe the Ph government could invest in some ....-off big container-carrying choppers from Sikorsky instead of a bunch of new frigates? This happens so regularly, they would certainly get their money's worth. Porta-hospital, power gen, water treatment can just be airlifted in and turned on. But that doesn't fit their US-centric 'security' framework.

Looks like I will be there for six months, in total. There goes my trip to Bangladesh! :( Just as well the GP season has finished...

Initially I will be there till 15th Dec - have to be home, we are having the first family Xmas for years and can't put it off as I do all the shopping/prep/cooking. Back to Ph on 5th Jan for indeterminate amount of time.

Thought I was going at 2am tomorrow, but no tickets yet, so the soonest will be Sat morning.

+1 Great job Kiddy ;)

Thanks chaps. Quietly shitting meself... :) I've spoken to someone from Oxfam Oz about it and the description was... graphic. I wonder if earplugs can double as nose-plugs? I've got tons of the buggers for me wood-working.

Speaking of which - if my youngest has any chance of somewhere to sleep, I need to get back to building her bed... have to rush it now, as I don't think I will have time when I get back.

Seeya round.
