Conversely, one wonders if some folks here can't discern that this is neither of those. Moreover, one wonders if some here have ever enjoyed the company of a group of people who passionately debate, while treating each other with respect and tolerance for differing opinions; without the need to inject irrelevant nonsense into every dialog, without the constant insults and potty humor, without engendering bickering in every thread.
Max was easy to dislike. Too easy. He wasn't a gracious loser and that stupid goatee made him look like a tiny comic book villain. But fact is - he was a really talented racer. We all of us - hold them up to a very high bar when it comes to off track behavior, but in the end, they're just flawed human beings who work and sacrifice so much for the dream of winning. I totally relate to that feeling of, "It's my time to rise to the top". Just human nature. Since leaving MotoGp - I've heard so many great things about Max and I can't help but have a kind of soft spot for him.
As much as he was disliked by many because of how he came across I've always liked him as a racer. Anyone at the level is exceptional and he was at the very pointy end of that bunch. The bickering, taunting and hatred between Max and Vale helped fuel some of the best and most entertaining racing I've ever witnessed, neither of them would give the other an inch.
Loved the comment about his goatee .... he had that villain look down pat.
That's an arrogant statement buddy. Are you trying to turn this place into a Theocracy?
As a massive Doohan fan, I was predisposed at the time to dislike Max and hence to buy into the Rossi side of the narrative regarding him and Rossi.
I actually went back and looked at the most controversial incident, when Max elbowed him, a few years ago with a different bias and am now not sure Max actually had anywhere to go with a wall of bikes outside him; perhaps it was a dress rehearsal for the Gibernau pass on an opponent already consigned to villainy by Valentino and his acolytes, and there have been other (admittedly rare) impossible inside moves as well, mostly also on opponents previously cast as villains in the show.
Max certainly did whinge a lot in the premier class, but was obviously a great 250 rider, and I enjoyed following him in his WSBK career, particularly at Aprilia.

Whatever for, I've read load of your posts and not said anything before, but you strike me as the sort of person who likes to rub people up the wrong way.
Save yer breath mate. Trolls are impervious to insults, reason, logic etc. I forget that myself from time to time and make the mistake of replying to them, which only encourages them. It's like using science, math and history to make a point with Trump supporters; a waste of time. If everybody would just ignore them - they'd fade away.
I've made no reference to JKD. Just talking about trolls in general. That's as much as I have to say. No point in saying more.
Typical response from you. Always crying innocence. No one here is that dumb Keshav. You don't even have the balls to back up your obvious trolling.
I'm done. I have nothing more to say. Just wanted to point out once again your rampant hypocrisy
Speaking of hypocrisy, there are some who might consider this post A little self righteous in itself.
You seem to have succeeded in irritating nearly everyone who has been posting on this thread in recent days. I don't think it is too far fetched to surmise that this might actually have been your object, and certainly in the process of doing so you yourself sat in judgement of most of those posters.
If that is what floats your boat, it is fine with me, but surely it can hardly be a surprise to you if some choose to come back at you.
