Pedrosa's Last Chance To Be Champion?

That's not entirely how it happened. When Rossi switched to Bridgestones and Lorenzo was still on the Michelins the tire manufactures made the wall go up. But when the both had Bridgestones the next season the wall stayed. Jorge was getting too fast for Valentino's liking and Vale didn't want data sharing. And by then they weren't exactly exchanging christmas cards.

No wall this year. I imagine they will be treated equally, development being favored towards Jorge, which makes the most amount of sense in my mind.

Thanks for explaining that, as I wasn't watching then I can only go by what I read, which clearly wasn't completely accurate. Having team mates at war, or at least not getting along doesn't usually end well does it? They don't have to be best buds of course but if there is antagonism it doesn't help push things forward in the same way.

I think the dynamics in the Yamaha pit will be fantastic. It may give Pedro the chance he needs, however Marky Marc is just hungry enough and talented enough to make the Honda pit a living hell as well.

That will be the great equaliser

Everybody underestimates the MM effect on Dani, when Stoner was on his game Dani just introverted into the background, when Stoner injured himself (in the championship lead) announced his retirement and really only wanted the PI race win Dani came to the fore.

Stoner had to recover and honestly didn't (couldn't wouldn't) give 100% on his return. Dani can shine but he settles too comfortably into the shadow of others, which is why he is a 1 in 3 chance at best, these odds were worked out on the Cray Supercomputer in the basement at the NSA I understand.

MM isn't going to be that polite to Dani.

I have to admit I didn't think he would be so comfortable and fast right from the get go. This is going to be a very interesting season.

In the time since the season ended I've watched a number of moto2 races again. He has got whatever the x factor is and he will boot poor little Dani in his tiny midget arse.

He'll probably take the title in season 1 if he doesn't bin it too big or too much.

The yellow clown and the ambitious little shark will be a huge factor in 2013. I can barely wait for the season to start

He does have it in bucket loads,i was saying last year he is going to frighten the .... out of them when he moves up but i got panned for it,now every body has stopped talking about the cheating .... and realised what he actually did in moto2 you can see how fast the kid is,wins and poles from MM in his first year no pobs.

Yep, I panned him, now having watched about half the season again I'm going to put a sly grand on him to take it out.

I'm a convert, and I might even change Spaniards to MM, he is an exciting rider, which VR and Stoner are and Dani and Jorge really aren't.

It didn't matter when Jorge won this year, all we talked about was Rossi and Stoner. Next year every second thread will be either Marky or Vale. Dani's run of consecutive wins was nearly ho hummed and when Jorge won the Championship it got 1 line to Stoners 10 on one bloody win at PI.

MM is the new go to man for an argument.

Andy i agree about Dani not being exiting but he changed towards the end of the year and i hope he takes that into this season cos we are going to have a blinding year and dont forget Cal,he was a revilation on the thousand and with a year behind him and a shed load of confidence he will upset a few and who knows what is going  to happen at Ducati, dont right them of yet just because most cant ride it dont mean Dovi of Ben cant. Cant wait.

I think valentino preferred the situation he had for his first year(s) in the premier class, with his own nastro azzurro team separate from the "official" factory honda team, and like mick doohan also recognised that set up and development skills were a significant part of his supremacy; mick hated his settings being given to other honda riders in his day.

I think part of his disquiet with lorenzo being "equal'" wasn't so much fear of jorge but that he wouldn't control the direction of development, although having someone as strong as jorge in the same also would detract from his apparent aim of surpassing ago for wins and premier class championships, something he didn't really need to do anyway imo.

I'd like to share your enthusiasm for Cal how ever he will be on inferior equipment compared to the factory Yam's.

IIRC Tech3 are not getting upgrades same as the factory team this season.

Saying that it wont stop me shouting for him. And I do shout lol ;)

I will be shouting for Cal too, I truly will. :)

Rossi won't win a single race.

I can't see a possibility while Pedrosa, Lorenzo and Marques races around. It would take a lot of luck to have these 3 riders out of the way in a single race.

Ive found that determining the chances of winning the championship can easily be equated using a simple mathematical equation.

Ive applied this formula to Pedrosa this year and this is what i have come up with

Billion dollars of development x. 130 mph catapult - Gravel pit. -

Terminal velocity impact. - Collar bone = SSDY ( same .... different yr)

This formula is tried and tested to be true. Take a look at the results when applied to Lorenzo and stoner last year.

Lorenzo

Lack of horsepower. x. Heart x 1 billion x work ethic x Focus x Arrogance squared - Nothing = Champion

Stoner

Best bike on the grid. x 10 million dollars. x. Negative heart - Negative intestinal fortitude - Negative mental strength. - Negative work ethic. - ...... attitude = 3rd place

after 2 ...... seasons, people easily forget how great rossi had been.  Ruling him out to not winning at all is a very bold statement.

in my opinion whatever happens to Pedrosa he will still be the number1 guy in Powerslide's "the shittiest rider" list :D

Wow this thread has sure fired a few up,

Of the above:

Lyria I'm with you!

Rossi won't win a race!? Wow I'm not so sure!

Rossi to win by Mugello!? See above answer.

MM to be injured?

Yeah I can see that one ;)

No, we just know how old he is. I  think he will win a race every once in a while, but will not compete for titles. What Valentino had going for him in his hayday, was an air of invincibility. That was  shattered years ago, and the guys that shattered it have only gotten better. Add to that the lingering mental affects of finally getting seriously injured and you have a guy on a championship winning bike, that will finish 3rd or 4th in the championship

So let's make the assumption that Pedrosa finishes behind Marquez. No need to speculate as to why and how (or does that make the question too stupid?)

Where does HRC now stand?

Another season pushing the Dani barrow? Relegated to 2nd rider? Replaced by Helmut's son?
