exactly!!! on a works bike its pitiful , danny pedrosa has achieved nearly as many race wins as hayden in his first year on the bike!

funny that because i only see a couple of hayden fans at valencia but i suppose spain is a long way from the usa.loads of dani and vale fans tho !

hayden may not have or ever get the sort of status rossi has but he will always be remembered. race fans dont forget a world champion even if it was for only one year.
rossi was a very good loser and was was good to see him shake nickys hand,as a rossi fan i also have to except nickys number 1 and rossi's number 2 this year and be gracious about it just like rossi was, but nobodys will forget that rossi is a 7 times world champ.

Talking of next year, I think the title will be won by either Hayden or Capirossi. Why? Because I think the yamaha won't be quite good enough. I can't seriously include the kawasakis, ilmors or sadly my beloved suzukis. The ducati has been promising in testing and everyone knows the honda has been ready for the last 3 years.
Be nice for Loris to win next year so my bet will be on him.

Surely you meant Melandri?!
Estoril was a flash in the pan. A moment of desperation to get himself a ride for next year. Don't see him being one of the top players next year.
Melandri now....he's had a ..... year too, but before this season started I thought he'd be the one seriously challenging Vale. Pity he breaks out in a rash every time he knows The Doctor is behind him!

Forgotten to mention Melandri there
<
..........he's another strong rival Rossi had to deal with. Anyway I was just hoping Elias could pull something exciting for all of us to see next year.

why do you think the yam will not be good enough to take on the honda's or ducati's,?
do you no something or is it just a gut feeling ?

If next years Yam 800 is anywhere as reliable as this years one, then no, Rossi won't stand a chance!

I predict the typical 3 will be in for a shot next year: Honda, Yamaha and Ducati, and Ducati seem to have a VERY good 800 right out of the box.

next year riders sizes and weights will play a massive issue, everys seen how fast predorsa can go on the old bike so hell fly on the new spec. capirossi wil probs do well cos hes small, stoner + melandri too, but vale , hayden, colin edwards ec wil struggle cos of their physical size.

As well some1 said the yam wont be good enough next year its always been the inferior bike out of them all, so whats new about it being like that next year? to wage vales skill u only have to look at where edwards is x

NOT EXACTLY....The bike that NH rode was far from a works bike. While it was a Repsol, it was an all new chassis, new motor pretty much new everything. They find out that the clutch basket is set too deep into the motor and the clutch disks and plates are getting tooo hot and that is why NH had so many clutch issues.

Pedrosa was on last year chassis and updated motor. He was the one that really had the works ride while NH got the new this and new that ride. And he STILL managed to have a better season than Rossi.

I don't think weight or height will play any factor in next years championship...the weight limits per cylinder remain exactly the same as the 990's, the only reason the smaller riders might benefit is due to their 250 experience.

So, if NH won the championship on an 800 development bike then he's ahead of the competition for next season right? So he should win next year's title, hands down, right? I can't wait to hear the excuses...hehehe.

I don't recall myself making excuses for Rossi. I think he can do that for himself, he's a grown man. Though you do make a good point about a lot of Rossi and Hayden fans making excuses for their respective favorite riders, which is evident in this forum. I respect everyones point of view, but I guess it just all comes down to which rider a person likes. I guess as far excuses, we'll have to wait this time around next year to see which rider has the most. I still can't wait to hear them.

In assen when Rossi was at the back? Edwards almost won the race.
Or maybe Estoril, when Rossi needed the help of a teammate to put a gap between him and Hayden in Estoril, Edwards was right on his ass, not passing but wondering why the hell "God" wasn't pulling miracles outta his ass and running away like he usually does. Edwards is fast when Yamaha remembers there's two riders in their team.

Assen? Wasn't that the time Rossi rode with a wrist that was fractured 2 days earlier?
Edwards deserved that win it was such a shame about his last corner mistake.
But I agree with your last sentence Richo.

That was my point. Rossi was at the back of the grid with a wrist swollen up bigger than a basketball. There was no way he was going to win. But miraculously, with Rossi "out of action", Colin's at the front.

like laguna colin has a lot of ex[perence in assen from his wsb days.mabe that has something to do with it. or mabe yamaha new rossi had no hope of winning so gave colin some go faster bits

That Yamaha is fast - Rossi is used to changing different makes and still win races and championships.
Remember after Laguna Seca, Rossi had a press conference mentioned in a interview they may start concentrating on the 800cc bike becuase it's going to be hard to make up the points gap. I believe that Edwards has been testing parts for that new bike all year...........

Rossi at the Val 800cc test just gone, Rossi was on top Day one and only 0.6second behind Dani by the end of Day 2. The second day he had the normal Yamaha tyre problems due to track temp.

My opinion is that he was concentrating on the up and coming NZ rally………
