After watching the qualifying, that track is ....... I understand why the riders don't want to go there next year.

Excellent lap from Rossi and Crutchlow(you could really see Rossi have it everything with how spent he looked in Parc ferme) but Marquez stole the show slipping and sliding(and watching him go over the bumps) his way to the first and only 1.59.

Marquez and Crutchlow say their bike is very unstable at this track. It has to be to get what they want out of it. They say that it's fine for seven laps in practice, but race distance might be a different matter.

Rossi says that he couldn't believe the time he did in qualifying, but thinks that in the race, at best, he is going for a podium. "Still in trouble".

Incidentally, "Trouble" is what he called Zarco at COTA. `

Maybe Marc will help Rossi off the track ala 2015 at Sepang ;)

BTW Crutchlow for the win.

I predicted last year that Marquez would go sub 2:00 but the weather took a downturn for qualifying day as Silverstone is so prone to doing. This my friends was inevitable.

And now, for Aleix to out achieve Josh this weekend ................

What's with Rossi being so miserable lately. I know he's probably being realistic about his chances but still he's not usually such a sad sack. Wonder if it's a sign that next year will be his last year

I'm truly worried that this race and all the bumps in the track could end up having real consequences for the championship here. I hope I'm wrong but watching everyone hitting the bumps over the weekend it seemed to me that on Sunday most are just a bit of bad luck away from being on the floor.

Rossi (like all top athletes) is often a 'sad sack' when things are not as they want, like or need such that he feels he is unable to perform at or close to his best and thus be competitive.

Rossi is often the 'sad sack' but it is often forgotten amongst the public smile that hides the miserable or questioning underside where many others show it in spades publically, Rossi (somewhat like Marquez) is or has been good as masking the true feelings, but ask around and stories abound.

As for last year, well wait as there are still races left for him to have a visitor to his motorhome that will brighten his mood ;)

I hope you are wrong, too, p4p1. I also hope we get to see more close-ups of the amazing riding over those bumps, particularly by MM. The silly director didn't know who to follow during Q2, so we missed this fastest lap. Hell, I would have preferred watching Rossi the whole time rather than switching between riders so often that you have no idea what you are watching. Sometimes MotoGP has horrendous directing.

The Honda guys say the bike is a handful, but they are fast, so who knows what to predict.

I heard him say this in parc ferme, Rossi is deflecting ( euphemism for lying). It's going to be a tire gamble as usual, though less of a gamble for VR given Michelin has been actively trying provide characteristics that suit him.

I expect a few DNFs tomorrow, partly the .... Michelin, partly the studder bumps at Silverstone.

New drinking game. Everyone must take a drink every time Jumjum mentions Rossi. You must finish your pint if he also mentions tires in the same paragraph.

Rossi said it straight up in the press conference. No deflecting at all.

Just watched qualifying. ....... hell, was Silverstone first created with cobblestones? I think the winner of this round is going to be whoever sets their suspension up the best.
