Nicky Hayden injured

Also he's out of surgery and in intensive care , these types of injury are not always life changing, he may have luck on his side, I hope so.

Latest report from GPOne. I think the 'not improving' bit is more clickbait .... as I don't see any quotes from actual doctors or reasons as to why he is not improving. But it does mention he is not operable at the moment according to the doctor that runs the hospital press office.

Thoughts & prayers with Nicky & his family.

They induce a coma whenever there is swelling on the brain. They did it to my daughter when she was hit on a pedestrian crossing many years ago. She was fine in the end, but this looks even more serious. Get well soon buddy.

How ...... up is this?. Dude races 200 mph bikes for 20 years and is on his death bed over a freakin bicycle. Gutted for Nick and family, can only pray that he can pull through and have a normal life after racing.

I don't mean to be morbid here gentlemen, but after the Michael Schumacher accident, among others, I think we may need to start preparing ourselves for an unfavorable outcome here. I hope that is not the case, but hearing the phrase severe head injury was enough to lower my expectations significantly. I don't expect to see him racing a motorcycle again. Hopefully he will be awake and able to walk on his own two feet eventually.

Let's not play the Schumi card just yet!

About all we know is that he got whacked in the head and has been placed in an induced coma. He could wake up tomorrow with a splitting headache (and, of course, the severe internal injuries), or die, or.....
Hopefully, some real news will be forthcoming soon.

In the meantime, remember Richard Hammond, who was in a coma for two weeks following his jet-car crash, and then went on to a near-complete recovery. It's far too soon to be speculating.

Jumkie, I'd be happy to PP a few bucks if you (Nicky's biggest fan) wanted to take up a collection and send him and his family some flowers or whatever.

Very saddened to hear this, Nicky is huge reason why I started following MotoGP in the first place. Seems like a stand up guy by all accounts, I hope he pulls through :(

Just got home from work after a .... day and read this, so the day gets even more .... really.

Absolute best wishes to Nicky for a successful and full recovery and also to his family whom I wish all the best and support at this time.

Holy ...., how sad ... I feel really sorry for him and his family. Those push bikes are ....... dangerous. Some of those bicycles get up to 90 or 100kph ... if you are doing those sort of speeds on a motorcycle you'd want to be wearing a proper helmet and protective gear like jacket maybe some kevlar jeans /boots ... and even then you will still get injured in a bingle with a car.

Cyclists wear lycra shorts and a polystyrene helmet ... I mean they don't really have the odds stacked up in their favour when they get hit by a 1.5 ton car. Praying for the guy!

Jeez. What a thing to wake up to. Never can find the right words at a time like this. Just hope Nicky pulls through.

Gut wrenching pics. Hoping for Nick's recovery. I attended his first pro AMA race, it doesn't seem like it was more than 20 years ago.

This pic Nicky's sister posted choked me up remembering my own big brother. The presence of mind for Nicky to think of his sister in that moment, I could just imagine.

Many thoughts and memories running through my mind yesterday evening about how Nicky has influenced my life. So many great times, life long friendships, inspiration and perspective. His parents and family are great people. They've always shown what family means. It's gut-wrenching but also an opportunity to remind those we love how much we appreciate them.

I found this. The road is straight so I imagine the car was traveling at high rate. I cringe at those tire marks in the back ground.

The news gets worse every time I read it, I was hoping for some positive statement about his condition but it's looking really bad at this time.
I don't do prayer but I wish him all the luck in the world.
GoNicky

I haven't posted on here for a couple years now. However given the solemn news about Nicky I felt I had to at least drop by and wish him the best. It makes no difference but it makes me feel a hell of a lot better. I am massively down about this news, and although I'm no religious man, I've had a little prayer in the hope someones listening up there. Heres hoping you pull through Nicky. If anyone has the heart to do it you have pal!

A true champion not only on the track, but of the hearts and minds of all who have had the genuine pleasure of seeing you do what the rest of us could only dream of.

All the best.
