Nakano seems to be topping (well close to) the time sheets. Anyone know why this is? It would be great have Kwak competitive and for sure Nakano deserves a win! The Bridgstones have it in them to win....

DePuniet's doing pretty well too. The ZX-RR has a new lump this year, And the engine has always been one of their main problems. Maybe the new donk is better.

I think its that the bridgestone qualifying tires are particularly good. but i am not sure how they do on race tires.

Kawasaki and Nakano are doing well because they have improved there bike in all areas

The bike has certainly improved with respect to the others, but these laptimes were set using qualifying tires, so race pace could be slower. I hope Kawa really are as strong as they look like but I have the feeling that Yamaha will sort out they're problems (that's if they weren't sand bagging) and Honda will be up there too soon.

It won't take Honda long, and I got the feeling Yamaha only gotta tighten a few screws for the M1 to be back in top shape, but I don't think they were sandbagging. Plus these fairly consistently fast Ducatis.
Once you stuff all those bikes in the front pack there's really not much room for the Kawas, unless they get seriously better, seriously quickly.
At least they're improving. Not at lightning pace but they're still getting consistently better each year. (Just compare Nakano's new Kawa to that dunlop shod beast they made McCoy ride)
It's a good, albiet slow way to the top.

I really hope that Kawa can carry that momentum right through the first few rounds at least. The Bridgestone race tyre is good and showed that in the second half of last year. The only possible problem might be that tyre may have been developed with a V4 pattern engine in mind. I don't know for sure but I'm pretty certain the bulk of tyre development may have been done with Ducati.
Ducati sort of shocked everyone when they first announced that they would be using Bridgestone, the reason for the switch being that they were sick of being left at the bottom of the foodchain, having to use a michelin tyre that had been principally developed for a V5 Honda. With Michelin having publicly announced that their development focus is on Yamaha which leaves Honda in the same position as Ducati were in a few years ago, this really evens the odds somewhat.
If the Bridgestone rubber works with the whole kawasaki package, and there is nothing in the preseason tests to suggest otherwise AND they've managed to get the bike to run fast as well, it's going to be great for them. Add to that the fact that Honda most likely will not have a tyre that is perfectly suited to a V5, and Yamaha allegedly with chatter problems ( which in most cases is the tyre ) I'm going to be glued to my sofa all weekend.

I think Ducati would get the bulk of Bridgestone's attention, they're it's most sucessful team yet, so it makes sense. Hopefully the hoops will still work well on an inline four.

cheers dude,. yeah Cappers, reall top guy

just some notes on what you were saying about the tyres/Kawackers/Yam's/Hondas etc

very good points
the Duke's and Kawackers seem to be on the pace without tyres problems, so if they are in the ball park with the lap times, and Honda/Yamaha are still in Diff's with their own various issues,. then .....

then......

then,........ yeah, I'll be glued to the box too

that is when I come back from Jerez and watch the replays

Heading out friday,. the fecking we buck was up til 1am last night ,. couldn't sleep thinking about it

just read MCN talking about Padrosa,. blah blah don't count him out,. will be Rossi's main challange etc etc

will be good to see how quick he adopts to the RCV,. and can't wait to see Stoner get up along side him
<

Stoner will crash, don't cont on him being rookie of the year.
<

I think all the Honda riders are having trouble "adapting" to their new bikes.

he won't be the only one crashing,. tis the nature of the beast

sure Stoner binned the 125 a lot, but look how quick he progressed also,.

Rossi, Randy, Wayne, Kevin etc etc all had their fair share,. tis a crazy thing when you get a bloke on a bike with power like these ones have,. some will take to it, some won't

Only Time will tell which ones like/can handle the power,....

Hey,

Talking about Bridgstones

Why don't Konica Honda slap a set on for Tamada San hes much more at home on them as he showed at Camel Honda.

I hope the Kawasaki team do well this year if thats one team that deserves a taste of success ..let it be them.

Good point Daz. Tamada was very entertaining if a bit rash on Bridgestones. I think he had done a lot of development with them. Another kamakaze fighting for podiums would add to the excitement alright.
