very true, the top 4 was too good.

Lorenzo and Rossi race trim seems to be pretty good. they were able to reel in consistent laps in low and mid 49's. dunno about casey. But its going to one helluva race tomorrow

Lorenzo looked damn fast.

I may have to reevaluate my prediction for tomorrow...

Still Rossi reins in Mugello

Tough for Rossi at Mugello,
Capirex with a fantastic effort.
Tomorrow is going to be a nice race!

where are those haydens lunatics who have cried after motegi how takahashi doesnt belong in moto gp? what a ....... bunch of morons and hypocrites, if hayden has any honor he would step out from ducati squad and moto gp class.

I would still back rossi to beat lorenzo over full race distance at mugello.

Stoner is hard to evaluate; very consistent in FP2 , less so in qp. It is hard to know what effect the crash has had; do ducati have 2 number one bikes, even for him?

Pedrosa may be too fragile for the premier class, but he is definitely a gutsy little bloke.

Wait...
After seeing these qualis (of which only the first 40 mins on hard tyres were relevant for the race) I think Rossi has the pace to make it--if he manages a decent start from that second row.

casey said in post QP interview that the feeling from the bike in that session was gone. he was losing time in all the big lean angle corners (that would be most of them then) and didnt seem very happy at all, even shaking his head BEFORE he got on the bike for the last run at the end of the session. if he can get some of that feeling back by the end of warmup, then he will be there too.

as for dani, he is a tough little gnome but why didnt he cry out the safe word when puig got too rough?

He's not last if that what you're really asking...but he is close to it...

If we're looking at race pace Rossi is still my number one pick. He was very fast on race setup (first ~40 min). Lorenzo is quick too, but not enough to hold off Rossi over race distance I think. Don't know what to say about Stoner. He did a fast lap at the end, but his race pace didn't look as good as Rossi or Lorenzo.

Im almost to the point of feeling sorry for Pedro. Not quite, but almost. It night be worse than first reported

Dani Pedrosa’s injury nightmare continued in Mugello today, the luckless Spaniard suffering serious muscle damage in his right leg during an incident in this morning’s final free practice session.

The Repsol Honda rider rode through the pain barrier to qualify eighth this afternoon but the 23-year-old was in excruciating pain after suffering the muscle damage when he nearly high-sided his RC212V machine this morning.

X-rays taken at the Clinica Mobile suggest the triple world champion has torn a muscle completely away from the top of his right femur, piling on the injury misery for Pedrosa.

Having shrugged off pre-season testing injuries to superbly fight his way back into world title contention with three successive podium finishes, Pedrosa’s hopes of a fourth consecutive top three in Mugello tomorrow look over.

The spectacular circuit is one of the most physically demanding on the calendar with a series of fast direction changes.

Pedrosa was still not fully recovered from left leg injuries he suffered in a pre-season testing crash in Qatar in early March and he said: “I had big slide and then a high-side and didn't crash but I felt a crack in the top of the femur in my right leg, the pain was unbelievable. I stopped the practice and went to the doctor and had some X-rays. We cannot see for sure but it looks like the tendon is pulled from the bone a little.

"The pain is so intense that I lose all the power in my leg. It is like a misfire in my leg every time I put pressure on it. I tried injections for qualifying but they didn't help'. The nerve gets pressed and then the pain shoots through my leg.”

It was injury also that cost Pedrosa the chance to fight for the 2008 world championship when he suffered leg and arm injuries in a big crash out of the lead at the German GP.

Three Italians and two aussis to fight about this one?
Stoner
Melandri
Vermulen
Rossi
Capirossi
An american as the "Wild card":
Hayden

It's raining and it looks like it's here to stay. Nice even conditions is all we can hope for now.

It's not my prediction but a
1. Melandri
2. Capirossi
3. Rossi
podium here would be fantastic.

250 race looked real wet, a lot of water on the track and apparently a prediction that the wettest period is the forecast time for the main event.

I'm going with the swimmers and I'd even go so far as to put the two Aussies on the podium joined by Rossi in a straight out splashathon.
