mugello - practice/qualifying

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (michaelm @ May 30 2009, 03:06 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I hope I am wrong, but I think rossi is more likely to find half a second than stoner. Stoner is showing more tactical sense this year, but his relative pace still seems to be pretty much on display from the start of the week-end. If they are holding back hard tyres for the race that might change things.

Looks like Stoner found the full second early today.
I can't belive those who seems to think Rossi's win here will be a walk in the park.
There are realisticly 4 WC contenders and they can all win here.

Edit: are there a second pit stop entry after the main straight? seems like most get a T1 before they vanish into pit.

Stoner is amazing, 1.49.3 is just unbelievable, but more importantly he is lapping consistently around 1.50, which would be a runaway race pace.
Now Rossi just clocked 1.49.517--he's finding the setup perhaps. Let's see his pace.
Temperature is only 22°C, in the afternoon it will be much hotter.

What is the old lap record? They seem to be going into totally new territory now.
Control tyres slower? doesn,t seem so.

I did say I hoped I was wrong, and posted before I saw stoner's post FP1 interview where he said they were experimenting with swing arms and would be faster today; looks like he was telling the truth as I have always contended he usually does.

Looks like they may all four be a chance as you say, although this track may not suit pedrosa and honda as much as the other rider/bike/tyre combinations.

Casey and Vale running consistently in mid 1.49

Edit: Only a mere 1ooth of a second separating their laptimes

Yes, Rossi has found the setup and a pace similar to Stoner's.
Can't wait--QP today and race tomorrow! This looks like a banquet

...and for the first time in years I cannot be at Mugello this weekend

That should be quiet a thing to overcome (missing the mugello atmosphere).

Loris in 1.49 too..

i think they are going to do a 1.48 in Quali (atleast Casey)

Orgey bangs in a 1.49.35 (interesting!!!)

Edit: It remains to be seen, who uses what tires??? which could perform the race distance!!

Kallio and Hayden glued to the rear... I mean not even close to the other back markers... Can-o-peas put in a scorchin' (for a non-Casey piloted Duc) last lap to raise himself out of the detritus...

20 mnts in and 3 Yams in the front row!!!!
