Going fast in a straight line on a bike take not skill at all...and means nothing when it come to being quick on a track....it is being fast on the twisty bendy bits of the track or road that make a for good time and riders...

Last year's best top speed on race day at Mugello: 330kph by Marco Melandri

20kph faster in one year?

I think it's safe to say they are coming out of Bucine a bit faster.
<

Lorenzo is already faster than the best race time of 2008 by several tenths, but he does have a lot of work left to do. If they're hitting 350kph down the main straight, times should drop significantly by race day. I think the fastest riders will shave another .5 off of Lorenzo's time.

If the hard tires are out this weekend it seems to favor Stoner and Rossi. Perhaps now we know why Ducati were boasting this could be their first win? Now we know why Stoner says he expects a fight?

Mugello 2009 is the ideal place and situation for Stoner to try and take revenge for Laguna Seca 2008. Rossi has everything to lose here, with the additional irritant of Lorenzo being that fast. Very delicate position for VR46, indeed. It could be a fantastic race like it was in 2000 between Rossi, Capirossi and Biaggi.
And I can't even go to Mugello this year---

You talk as if Lorenzo is nothing more than a pestering fly on Rossi, I beg to differ. Right now Rossi is alot more worry about Lorenzo than he is of Stoner, simply because they are on the same equipment and Rossi knows he will have no excuses if Jorge is to come out on top at the end of the season. Lorenzo is a BIG threat to Rossi right now......let's just say the 'mind game' is being played on him at the moment.

Go Jorge Lorenzo!! Kick Rossi's Butt !!

I guess there was noticeable tail wind today down the straight.

Just wondering, what's your benefit in Rossi crashing?
[/quote

When Rossi crashes, he uses Vale's misfortune as an excuse to chat up Ladyboys in Hong Kong for some strange reason. I think it's an auto erotic trigger like folks that get aroused by car crashes or amputees.

Sad Sad little man

You just want someone to kick Rossi's butt for you, doesn't matter who... I do not have that problem. Rossi and Stoner are the best riders in activity, and whoever of the two wins I'm always happy. Lorenzo... I am not blind, I can see his lap times. But somehow I feel he does not have the necessary mental strength and maturity yet, to become world champ in the premier class. Maybe I'm wrong... We'll see.
If he can stay on the bike, and podium, for the next two races, then I'll begin to change my mind. Being fast is a requirement but it is not all, in this sport...

I hope I am wrong, but I think rossi is more likely to find half a second than stoner. Stoner is showing more tactical sense this year, but his relative pace still seems to be pretty much on display from the start of the week-end. If they are holding back hard tyres for the race that might change things.

the race will be more interesting, now there have a lot of rider in the front hehehe maybe will be a lot of battle this year

Why not here? The times are pretty close. Rossi is deadly here and I don't think anyone threatens him yet it is only FP1. Stoner also seemed fairly happy so he's not pushing it to the limit either.

BTW if that is a Vincent Black Shadow in that pic, and I think it is, it is beautiful. I would love to own one.

I think we have to keep in mind that almost every year at Mugello someone else is running away at the front at the begining of the race....and Rossi always always reels then in and beats them....

Lorenzo and Stoner are the only 2 riders that will be able to keep with Rossi to the end and maybe beat him....I really think Lorenzo will be able to beat Rossi tomorrow.

WTF

15 mnts into FP2 and Casey has gone 1.49.323 (OMG is he going to runaway)

Dani and Rossi almost a second behind!!!
