So is it over, live timing says finalized with Stoner crushing the field. Is the BMW his or is there another session later today?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (jazkat @ Mar 29 2009, 12:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>time to worry stoner is flying at jerez.... hope its not gonna be 2007 all over again i was hoping for a massive battle this year.
2.7 second improvement by stoner on his best race lap last year (admittedly when the ducati appeared to be diabolical). Being 0.7 seconds behind stoner in practice didn't seem to inconvenience rossi much in several races last year, although he has recently said the decrease in practice time isn't going to help. Did it rain at the end of the session?
(EDIT) Apparently did rain at the end, so rossi and others may not have got their fastest laps in.

huge cloud lurking and i guess track temps went downhill so think thats why it ended early.

Stoner unfuing-believable

if Jerez is (...or was) one Ducati's worst tracks, and one that Casey doesn't (...didn't) like, well, what to expect elsewhere...
<

Toseland did a Lorenzo, fortunately he's OK
<

Valentino on Italian TV jokingly said he could not win the BMW because his sponsor FIAT wouldn't appreciate that
<

More seriously, he honestly added he did not have the potential for 1'38"6 today, but he could have improved his best time a bit.

Casey said he was already very happy with his first fast lap time of 1'39"1 and that they only changed to a new tyre with the previous setting for his last incredibly fast time. He says he himsefl could not believe it!

usual vale

Damn that one hour time thing...missed almost the entire event

. Suzuki's looking very good. Congrats to Casey.

Stoner has been the fastest man for three years now (generally speaking). He is truly amazing!

As for my guy, well I don't know, the times compared to 2nd and down doesn't look good for him to be in such a low position (regardless of how little time there is between them), and compared to Kalio, then its very troubling. Considering he is just a hair over Hayate Melandri, I'd say I'm desperate for an explanation. Somebody here said that weather was an issue? So does this mean some riders didn't get to complete laps under good weather?

MotoGP.com is showing another practice session just started FP3. So then it seems there is still another and final session. (Putting sleeping pills bottle down for the moment).

Also apart from Stoner's laptimes, how about Kallio!!!!!
I'm really happy about that, and it's good that Suzuki is up there once again.
Wow,Toseland has now done two Lorenzos and appears to have escaped serious injury in both.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (povol @ Mar 29 2009, 09:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>those were free practice times,the BMW award is running right now

schedule on the motogp site said, the 45 minute practice was the BMW award, then they're now having FP3

I guess he tried a few things to be faster,i didn't see too much of him when he pushed or the broadcast.
I saw him save the bike going into the gravel at very high speed though, maybe he was on a good lap.I hope the rain stops so they all can continue doing useful work.

I am not sure fully declaring his hand by throwing down ridiculously fast times is necessarily the best strategy for stoner in the real racing; last year rather than intimidating rossi it informed him and jb as to where they needed to be, a place they often eventually found. I guess he is always going to go for the win in this quasi-official contest though, probably what ducati would want too.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (jazkat @ Mar 29 2009, 12:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>dont expect times to improve there is a huge cloud lingering.

im very happy to see the suzuki's near the front

Agree. Suzuki were quick in the Qatar test the other week - it looks encouraging, and it's good to see.

So Casey gets the keys to a 135 Sauber BMW straight 6, only 130 odd on the planet - sod that...after that lap he should have the keys to Bologna
<

1.5 seconds quicker than lap record on race tyres. Jorge demolished the field in qualifying last year and stuck the M1 on pole with a 1:38.1 on a qualifier. Today Casey bangs off a 1:38.6 to order on a race tyre, in less favourable track conditions, largely because he suspected it might rain. Suppo's beaming, Preziozi's beaming, Adriana's beaming, while Casey gets the beamer, and more importantly for him, he finally gets the Desmo to behave at Jerez. Let's see what he can do over race distance in a fortnights time...because you can guarantee your man from Tavullia will not be fazed by this in the slightest and be relishing the thought of Losail.

Nicky summons all of his dirt track experience - (as Toby said...it was a left hander too!), while Mika similarly calls on his ice speedway prowess in two not dissimilar off track excursions. Kalio in the meantime admirably finishing the session in a creditable sixth and top Ducati after Casey. Nicky's performance was disappointing for two reasons - firstly, we know he's quick and talented, and I love to see the guy do well; and secondly, I noticed Pinky was active today...we all know why, and we're now all bracing for the inevitable onslaught of tedious 'told you so' Hayden hatred threads over next week started by our favorite cast of Pinky's ingenious character creations.

RDP, De Angelis, and Tiger Toni miraculously all stay upright, despite their best efforts to trip each other up. JT, not so lucky - doing his best to imitate last years antics of his Yam colleague Jorge - wierd one that, thank God he's o.k.

Very disappointing for Dovi - because although I hate to say it, had Puig planted his fully fit ventriloquist dummy on the bike he would've probably seen off Capi for third. HRC will be very concerned...they should be...Dani would struggle to develop a polaroid.

A good showing for Sete having sat out Qatar..not bad for a 36 year old drama queen back for a final curtain call.

Ride of the day, after Casey...let's hear it for Marco. How much money in the end has been forceably prized out of Kawasaki and channelled to that Hayate squad via Dorna?

(Hey Helix, bet you're the only one on here apart from maybe The Phorest, that knows Hayate is also an Anime series in Japan. )

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pinky @ Mar 29 2009, 01:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>hayden beaten by the all the ducati riders (the ones that count anyway) ... told ya so

There ya go...quelle surprise....just as I was posting. Not hard to predict I suppose...the Pink one returns - as irritating an unwelcome as the thrush.
