KTM MotoGP

It's already eight seasons since KTM Factory joined MotoGP full-time grid since 2017 and still zero team and constructor titles despite few victories. Massive high-profile rider and personnel signings + big-spending + signing Dani Pedrosa as test rider still cannot guarantee of world title contender and fears of KTM becoming "PSG of MotoGP" because of high-spending cannot guarantee massive success.

Will KTM improve or becoming "PSG of MotoGP"?

My 2p

Hanging onto Acosta have been their only high profile rider acquisition. Keeping Binder throughout the years, a smart choice.

Every other factory, apart from Aprilia, have a better history of riders, since 2017.

All factories spend big. Coming into the class, you'll need to spend more, if you want to catch up.

Since 2017, they've surpassed Honda, Yamaha, Aprilia and Suzuki by default. I'd say that is very good. If Gigi would step aside, they'd be the best team within two seasons.

PSG have won the CL, and is the Great White in a pond of haddocks. I'd say KTM is more the Magpies of the MotoGP circus.

Give Acosta, Binder, Bastianini and Viñales two more seasons, and they'll be even closer.

PSG has never won the UEFA Champions League

The relationship with Guidotti did not bear fruit. It doesn't seem like he was a step forward from Leitner. We'll see what Ajo is able to accomplish. His first order of business will be replacing Sterlacchini, I suppose, since Fabiano has bailed to be Aprilia's technical director.

Big picture, I"m more interested to see how the Red Bull and KTM relationship evolves. Red Bull evolved from a sponsor to a constructor (including power units) in Formula 1. If KTM continue to underperform in MotoGP, and the manufacturing business continues to waver, I wonder if Red Bull will take over.

Relationships in motorsports are ultimately about making money and selling products. KTM and Red Bull have had a lot of success in MXGP and SMX, and those successes are probably more important to those brands. As far as MotoGP both brands are in very lucrative positions, they are getting their moneys worth. I dont know that a MotoGP championship will mean as much to their bottom line.
