Bradley Smith on the incident. He nails it:

Eh... it hasn't been THAT long.  Catalunya 09, Motegi 10 and Brno last year all come to mind as more recent scraps Lorenzo's been involved in.  Interestingly, IIRC he lost all three of them.

Scraps? Catalunya 09 was a lap and a half. Brno was a great race, but the scrapping was only a lap and a bit.

Are Yamaha running a seamless gear box yet?

They have designed and built one and many believed that it was going to be rolled out this season but it hasn't been tested adequately. If Yam are in the ..... by the summer break I reckon there's a chance it'll be in by Brno.

Which is the same as today, no?  MM didn't show Jorge a wheel until lap 27...  Point is, if Smith's point applies to the situation today, then it equally applies to the three I cited.

Yes, but that wasn't Smith's point. Smith's point was that Lorenzo is in cruising around and crushing the .......s mode, not in defensive battle mode, I remember Stoner passing Pedrosa round the outside at Motegi, then putting his hand up in apology because of the harshness of that move. That has shaped Lorenzo's thinking, but there's a new game in town, which requires you to think about defending all the time.

I agree that Jorge has kept his dignity and responded magnanimously which I respect.

In '05 Sete behaved like a petulant wounded child. Under similar circumstances to today, Casey would've cried, Rossi would have piled on the mind games and Doohan would've kicked .... out of him.

I agree Stoner would have complained if in Jorge's position, because as with the corkscrew 08 he would have regarded MM as not being in full control of his bike.

I don't think it would have happened with Stoner though; he would not have left the gap and would have avoided collision once MM pulled the move in any case. If he was on a Honda I extremely doubt MM would have got close enough to pull the move anyway, and if on a Yamaha may not have been in front of MM going into the last corner of the race.

How? Simoncelli would have seen Marquez once on the starting grid, and never again.

Sic was getting faster and faster. He was no where near his peak.

MM is not god. He is fast. He is the next Motogp golden child. But he can be defeated and most certaintly has not had anyone give it to him as good as he dishes it.

Marquez was on the podium in his first race. He won his second. He hasn't been off the podium in all three races. Simoncelli didn't get onto the podium until his second year. Simoncelli may not have been near his peak, but then neither is Marquez.

Simoncelli had bags of charisma, but a great deal less talent. We need to stop with the myth-making already.

We should also remember MM is on arguably the best ever GP bike.

Against arguably some of the fastest riders ever. Highlight for me was when MM first hopped off the bike and tried to shake Lorenzo's hand. Lorenzo did his 'naughty boy' finger waving ........ and you could see Marc laughing in his helmet.

Credit to Cal for not chucking it in the gravel again. Shame he couldn't stick with Rossi and make a race of it.

Espagaro was good again, that Aprilia looks like a fun bike to ride, sliding all over the place.

Smith's point sounded farked. Leaving the door open, fair enough comment, the rest was a prematurely bald ginger telling a 4 times world champion how to do the job. A job that Bradley is performing rather poorly.

Oh come now, Arrab. Doohan was a whiney complaining helmet thrower who used to wander around the paddock with permanent "do-you-know-who-I-am" look plastered to his face. An A-grade tosser.

He would have been on the podium looking like a spoilt princess. As he did when Criville beat him.

[Oh and BTW: That stuff that Oxley used to spout about him not taking painkillers with the Ilizarof frame on his leg was rubbish.]

Marquez was

Charisma?

Big hair = charisma?

Carefully manufactured devil-may-care callous attitude = charisma?

Having a man-crush on someone doesn't mean they have a great personality, it just means you are besotted.

Personally, I was not that impressed, but others say he has charisma. I was being kind, and giving them the benefit of the doubt. I forgot this was Powerslide.

Not a favorable opinion around here.

I thought he was an overrated, dangerous ....... and am in complete agreement of your assessment
