why make this so complicated?

if he couldn't have slammed his bike into jorge he wouldn't have made that corner.

if you dive in so deep that you have to rely on others to make the thing turn its more than a racing incident, thats calculating how to take someone out.

+ if in question marquez is always to blame.

easy as that

good for him that he got his own penalty system and most likely won't even be punished.

rider a lost the front? get real...

Marquez is the shot in the arm the series needs for the same morons who continuously whine about how boring GP is.
That's it, isn't it. More blood, guts and mindless fairing bashing for the hordes of idiots who can't appreciate a motorcycle race for what it is. No wonder the officials are so lax, this .... puts butts on the seats. And it looks so cool in those crash compilations on youtube, courtesy of the motogp channel.

is anybody seriously buying the front end twitch? maybe wrong but from memory it seemed like marquez just braked way too late to ever make that pass.

which counters the argument that lorenzo went wide IMO...normal braking point for marquez >> #93 not even close enough to pull a move

From Yamaha Factory Racing:

The reigning World Champion was able to hold second from an advancing Marc Marquez until the final corner of the final lap when the young Spanish rookie made a heart stopping pass on the inside of Lorenzo, making contact and pushing him wide to steal second.

“I was second for the whole race and then lost the place on the last corner so it wasn't the perfect race. The perfect race is a victory and if not possible second, the next is third. Today we got another podium and we are quite close to the leader. On the other hand we have to improve the bike. I think I made two mistakes in the race, in the start I started really badly and in the last corner, I thought Marquez was further behind than he was so I didn’t take a defensive line, this was my second mistake.”

I think you pretty much nailed it up there. Marquez was never going to make that corner going in like that. Whenever you need to bounce off other riders to make it, you've f'ed up.

I'm with this, if there had been no contact Marquez was going where Lorenzo ended up.

The major point the riders have brought up is if you open the door as wide as Jorge did they'd all have had a go. That said, they all also agreed they'd be pissed-off if it happened to them (even MM!!). I think if you subtract JL, MM goes wide, but no worse. Watch it again...

Serious kudos to Lorenzo, not trying to blame everyone & everything around him. Really refreshing.

Looks like he accepts he left a gap, pity some people can't accept that these things happen in a motorcycle race. It's not a ....... time trial. If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

For clarification, I agree, Marquez would have gone wide if it weren't for Lorenzo, especially since there is a nice run-off area. That doesn't make it one hair better in my opinion. He still had to bounce off Lorenzo to make it stick.

Lot of people are refering to Rossi-Sete incident but two wrongs don't make it right though. In the end of day the it is racing and things happen some times so time to move on.

Couple more ....

This is what Mielke said, and it's ......... He would have run a little bit wide, nothing more. And the door was wiiiiide open, and this is racing.

Anyway, ad 'history repeats itself': “When I saw at the last corner that Jorge had opened a little bit the door. Then just I go in. Many times it has happened in a similar way there. Just I learned from the videos..."

Marquez just found the perfect way to protect himself, and for some reason I'm laughing my ... off about that.

IMO, JL left way too much space and MM made a wild, Melandri-worthy lunge that really shouldn't have paid off.  If the timing was slightly different, Lorenzo could have simply cut back underneath.  To MM's credit, at least he didn't 'follow through' and deliberately run <strike>Sete</strike> Lorenzo in to the gravel.

MM's three (more?) near torpedoes earlier in the race were more alarming.  Each time he wobbled to within inches of Lorenzo's rear tire, I was muttering to myself, "That ......'s gonna kill someone!"

Lorenzo said he wasn't aware of how close MM was.  I'm surprised no team has installed something like an ultrasonic range finder in the tail of their bikes.  An easy to read multicolored light on the dash could convey distance to the chasing rider.

Pedrosa - one of his ~3 annual easy wins that occur when everything is perfect.

Cal - what happened?  Tires and heat, I assume.

Rossi now understands what it's like to ride a bike that's not specifically made for him and him alone.

Bradl - Dude?!

Dovi - a hurting Hayden kicked your ....  Wazzup?

How can someone who loves stoner and haga be so wrong :(

Watch the impact. Worse than what happened to sete.

Small miracle jorge didn't crash

Haven't yet seen a podium video.  LOVE the finger wag.  ;)

cliché, I think Geo made a nice point as far as (not) following through was concerned. And come on, they touched a bit, but it was no 'killer move' or so.

Geo, I didn't find MM's breaking 'alarming'. It was close, very close, but he was able to hold the line and keep the distance. This is close racing at teh highest level. I'm not a giant fan of Marquez, but he is acting much less stupid and far more up to it than I ever expected.

stiefel, I see no second Rossi in Marquez. I just loved the way he basically said 'it was obviously ok when Rosdsi did it, so don't you dare punishing me for it'. He seems to be playing with his rivals, and in doing so he show's an unexpected amount of smartness.

edit: Has anyone already pointed out that Lorenzo got beaten in 'Lorenzo corner'?

Funny for all the Rosdi/Sete comparisons, looks more like Marco/Pedrosa in terms of lines and contact.
