Good race by Salom. Really good to see Olivera on the podium. Is this Mahindra's first podium? I was watching carefully, and I couldn't see the Mahindra losing out to the KTMs anywhere.

Yes, first podium for Mahindra. Good racing all round, really enjoyed that one.

Miller won't know himself next year when he is on one of those KTMs. The Honda has taught him how to be super late on the brakes.

Good ride from Salom, he never gets flustered when he's two or three bikes off the lead; unlike Vinales.  A bit lucky that Rins made a bigger mess of the last corner than he did, but that kind of thing helps win championships.  Olivera had a great ride, too, especially since his start was Cal Crutchlow-like.

Mahindra was not fast enough on sepa g's long straights. Olivera was riding the wheels off in the twisties...

I'm not sure I agree with the Mahindra not being fast enough. I just rewatched part of the race. Olivera did get drafted a few times, but then so did everybody. There's not much in it, IMHO.

Salom was on it that QP. A 36! through traffic....

Ana seems to like the Island.

And Jack headed the sheets for a bit. Still, nice effort on that Honda.

Top day!

Top race, I enjoyed that almost as much as the riders looked like they did! Great passes, including down the outside of MG Corner. There is some really talented riders in the front Moto3 group and the championship is nice and close now.

If only that Honda had a little bit more horsepower...

Very impressed with Ana carassco. She is only 16 and never been to PI before. Qualified in 7th and after a good start got to 4th. Sadly only finished in 17th but still a brave race with lots of good battles.

Yeah she looked solid in those first few laps. Couldn't hold that pace but should be quick next year with more experience. She did say Phillip Island was her favourite track on the Playstation...

Agreed Rog, no shame or disgrace at all in where she finishes but she did get a little 'Moto3' bashed at times.

By that I mean that she will learn what is needed to play hard as she was pushed wide a few time, cut off another few and what not, the kind of stuff that goes on week in and week out but for a newbie is intimidating (that applies to all newbies). Give her a few years and a lot more races with fifferent riders around and that experience will allow her to battle better or perhaps the word should be firmer in that she will be putting those moves on.

But as an Aussie I was smiling watching Miller who I reckon rode an excellent race whilst Sissis disappoints.

Wifey and I singled her out to watch at Sepang. She had a great, almost race long, battle at the head of the second group. Props to her!

It looks like she tired throughout the race. Or perhaps used up her tyres a bit. But, it's a promising race for the future.

With only 5 points in the championship, and with recent performances favouring Rins, this championship is now too close to call.

Great ride from Rins again, Vinales almost got him on the line.  I think Salom got caught out a bit by the Folger and the two Hondas, and was coming from too far back at the end.  Should be a straight fight all the way to Valencia.

Even I watched  the moto 3 race today. Great race, particularly in comparison with the farce that was the "main event".

:D You could even say it was the main event! :D It was the only one that went the distance.

The crowd was down on previous years--not surprising given no Stoner--only about 32,000.  Dorna's rolling clusterfuck (great description, Geonerd, btw) wouldn't endear too many to come back again next year.  It seems they're worse at dealing with 'unexpected' circumstances than even the FIM used to be--something I would not have believed possible.

It was great. For years I've put up with mouthbreathers in the crowd bagging the 125s/Moto3 as slow/easy/could go faster on my GSXR750....seemed to be an acknowledgement of the class this time. Doubt it'll last. Maybe if Miller is on it when he goes to the Ajo team....
