Last years race if I'm not mistaken is when Rossi clinched the championship. By that time Stoner's wrist was in mulitiple pieces and even though he lead the race for quite some time succumbed to Rossi and fell behind to finish second. I am going to re-watch that race and see when and how the break occurred and whether it is repeatable. With the character of this track I would suspect to push more Ducati's up the order, however, the weather threatens rain which may nullify the advantage. Handling means less here. At this point I will say the mix will be broken by CV and if there is a bike change then we could be in for some very interesting results.Personally, I would love to see an optional bike change race this time. I want to see Kallio in the rain and even though it is a bit of early pressure he clearly has his sights on Haydens ride and therefore will be crazy to impress. I don't want to totally tip my Fantasy Motogp picks but ... as usual, GO LORIS!I can't pick him for podium this time though...

rain:
Rossi
CV
Stoner

dry:
Stoner
Rossi
Dovi

Good post and valid points. Rain could turn things around quite a lot indeed.
Here's my top 5

dry:
Rossi
Stoner
Dovi
Lorenzo
Pedrosa (in case he's healed up. Otherwise maybe Capi)

I can't say anything about the rain, but I think we could see guys like Vermeulen or maybe even Kallio in the top 5.

Wow 1st and 2nd for Stoner, thats awesome!

Stoner for the win, if he is allowed to take off undisturbed.
(this prediction this year is going to be mandatory at all tracks...

)

Then, remember, Motegi is Capirex' territory!
If Capirossi stays on the bike, he's going to podium at Motegi on his 2009 Suzuki.
That leaves 1 podium slot free, just guess who that could be

My dream is a race-long battle among these three, reminiscent of the legendary scrap at Mugello in the year 2000 between Rossi, Capirossi and Biaggi (which was won by Capi...).

Then, Dovi or Lorenzo--it could be Dovi's time, with a little help from HRC.

1. Stoner
2. Rossi
3. Lorenzo

I don't see any reason why it going to be any different than Qatar.

To those hoping for racelong scraps, don't hold your breath.
These guys are so good, that it only takes them 2 or 3 laps to figure out if they have a significant advantage on any opponent at particular parts of the track. The 800's don't allow for sub optimal lines or mistake corrections. It only gets worse with the spec tire.

Motegi is the opposite of Phillip island, and puts bike corner entry stability over rider skill.

Stoner (unlike last year, a win at Motegi vs Rossi is important)
