MOTEGI GP 2011: RACE

Whats wrong with that!??
<

I, and few other million people, have not yet watched the Moto2 and didn't want to know the outcome in advance.

You never hear the pros make such an obvious mistake.

BBC reported to stoner " its not often we see you make a mistake casey. Tell us what happened". Casey to reported " it wasn't a mistake, i hit a bump. Ive been hitting it all weekend". hahahaits like having a pothole in the road on your way to work but you hit it every day.. epic fail !

The bump in itself would not have been of consequence had it not unseated his brake pads. After all his time with Ducati Stoner is used to bumpy rides and much of his genius has consisted of doing well in spite of them.

The whole race was series of unfortunate events

Its hard to really tell what happened at the first turn because of ...... camera work, Rossi's version seems plausible, so i will go with it. When i saw him go down, the first thing i thought was it looked like a brake lever incident. I didnt see it, but the way he went down had all the makings of someone hitting his brake lever. Racing incident.

Even though it didnt do the race any favors, rules are rules, you jump, you get penalized. Leaving it up to discretion of race control will ultimately lead to cries of favoritism. You jump, you lose, no questions asked.

Stoner had bike to win. Scariest thing in the world is coming out of a tank slapper and discovering you have no brakes. Been there done that at half the speed Stoner was at, he did a masterful job of saving the bike. All it took was a little quick math for him to realize he wasnt going to make up 10 seconds so he settled for a decent points day with minimal point damage. The new smart Casey.

Bautista, buddy, you have never had the speed to run with Casey, why on earth did you not settle for your best finish ever

Now Stoner has to win PI, and Lorenzo finish 4th or worse to clinch title at home

Starting to have second thoughts on my condemnation of Honda for picking Sic over Dovi. Thats 3 races in a row he has beat Dovi straight up.

Did i miss anything, there was so much going on it was a blur.

Oh, im sitting on the couch, and at 2am sharp, i get a wake up call from California. Phone rings and im saying, who the .... is calling me at this time of night. When you have kids, your ....... puckers up when calls come in at that time. It was a text from Jumkie " You Up"

It seems like every week on the race thread someone is spoiling the 125 and moto 2 race. Whats disconcerting is that its not newbies its guys with a ton of posts that have been here for a long time. I dont want to hear how good the race was or anything about it.

Please be more courteous about this.

Everybody get off Nickys back. Its not easy developing a CRT bike

Sorry for the scare. Just didn't want you to miss another "typical" race (which this was not).

A series of unfortunate events that turned the race on it's head again and again. Really thought the championship race could be on again when Stoner ploughed into the gravel, but he did well to keep it upright. As did Hayden and Spies in fact. Really shame for Bautista, but I reckon it's as much to do with the pressure from Dovi and Marco who'd have closed him right down by the end of the race - they were only 7 seconds down on him on lap 13 and he was lapping almost a second slower. My race roundup and new layout

In other news - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motogp/15116214.stm Hopper back for Sepang. Really hope today doesn't push Suzuki away from the championship next year - a 2-man team with Alvaro and Hopper would be great.

As usual, you leave out the facts that don't fit your pre-existing opinion.

"I've been hitting those bumps all weekend and nothing really happened. This time it just gave a little wobble off one of them, and as I wend over the big one I nearly lost....."

Depending on how the bumps are placed on the track, it may be impossible to avoid them. DOH!

you can be your normal casey appolgist but the fact remains he new they were there yet still got into trouble hitting them. So the bbc reporter was correct in saying he made a mistake , somthing casey would not admit. No other ...... seemed to get into trouble with them so therefor they must have been avoidable.

Try and follow logic. He said he'd been hitting them all weekend and they'd never been a problem.

Yet you fault him hitting them as if he had some way to know that they would be problematical

the 72nd time he hit them.

If a guy passes the same street corner every day with no problem

and then one day gets struck by a freak bolt of lightning - do you fault him for passing that corner?

What if they were unavoidable? What if his set-up would not accommodate those bumps, but was great all over the rest of the circuit?

Im not faulting him for hitting them. Try ....... reading whats written !. Im faulting him for refusing to admit he made a mistake .

"What if " bla bla bla. Fact is he is too up himself to admit fault plain and simple. Following your crack head logic he would have hit them and got the wiggles every lap !
