There is nothing DMG would like more than to see Mladin go away, for a number of reasons. There would be close competition on the track and it would be one less dissenter in the paddock. For DMG to make it,they need the old hands that cause problems to go away so they can bring in new riders that will bow to their every command. Mladin know this so he threw a little dig at DMG that im sure made them cringe

dmg's new rules have made the sbk much easier to ride this year. my career has been extended 5yrs. feels like christmas. who do i thank?

It's funny he would say it now b/c it was obvious at Fontana. Mladin and Spies used to throw the GSXR around with reckless abandon b/c the old Dunlops would stick. During Race 1 at Fontana, Hayden revealed the new equipment (tires especially) work better when you're smooth and consistent. If Mladin had not made a really late pass on Hayden, Tommy would have won that race pretty easily.

It does look a bit more leisurely in AMA SBK this year.

Well obviously if Mladin hadnt passed him,Hayden would have won the race, but considering Mladin was close enough to make a last lap pass,it wouldnt have been pretty easy. Thats like those goofy TV announcers saying,If the linebacker had not made that tackle, the running back would have picked up 5 more yards.DUH There are a lot of If's in life. If Mladin had tested the bike in the off season,he would be faster. If,his back wasnt hurting he would run away from the field. If,your aunt had a ....,she would be you uncle,If, a frog had wings etc:. Hayden once stated that the REAL Yoshimura Superbike was weird to ride because you had to push it past your mental comfort zone before it did its thing. The new bike performs in his comfort zone and its easier on him to find the limits of a stock bike. I personally think Mladin is doing just enough to win and if he decides to decimate the field,he will do it. If he is having fun making last lap passes,so be it. He seems to like Tommy with the compliments he has given him but like he said after Fontana,im not going to give you anything. Barring injury,or mechanical failure, I think he wins every race this year.

Hayden can pass back!!!!

Mladin made a really late pass that knocked Hayden off of his line. It messed up his rhythm in a section where he was much faster. It Mladin had made a cleaner pass I think Hayden would have won.

Mat was making all of his time at the kink and the braking area into turn 1.

You are not questioning the pass are you. It was textbook perfect for a last lap pass. Zero contact, made Hayden balk and cost him drive . It wasnt a bonzai move,it was a move Hayden wasnt expecting since he had a couple of lengths heading in to that corner. Mladin rode it in deeper than Hayden thought he could and it spooked him. all that showed me was the talent differnce between the 2.

I'm NOT a fan, but as they say: the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Well it doesn't exactly apply since DMG is not my enemy, but they have sure made it frustration to see what is going on in the AMA. And I'm tired of seeing Mladin on the box and would love to see how he matches up against the world boys. Having said that, good on ya Mladin. Its time for others to step it up.

Why would I question the pass?

You're the one who keeps marketing Mat's pass as a textbook maneuver when he was simply wedging himself into an open door. Both are good racing maneuvers but I wouldn't put Mat's pass in a text book.

All I was trying to say is that Hayden showed you can ride a smooth line and still make good lap times under the new rules.

If someone read that quote and had not seen what really happened, they would deduce that Mladin made significant contact and KNOCKED Hayden out of his line.No such thing happened. Mladin outbraked him, beat him to the turn in, and took the path that Hayden had his eye on,forcing him to take another line.Hayden was lazy on the brakes and opened a door,Mladin walked right thru.

If Mladin had been closer and he had made an easy clean pass, I think Hayden would have won. However, Mat was a long way back, this caused him to make a tough pass that knocked Hayden off of his line. Mat won as a result.

I don't care about the pass. I'm just making an observation that a late pass from way behind was actually more advantageous than a clean pass from just a few meters behind.

I'm not trying to start anything.

To knock someone off line implies contact, its not the right choice of words for this instance.Forced him off line would be closer, not knocked. Your right about the pass being advantagous,it suprised Hayden and he flinched and thats all it took was that split second for Mladin to get away by a few yards.
