If Marco does quit now, then it's rather pathetic and I hope he doesn't get another ride in the class. There are still plenty of other people who would love a chance at a factory ducati, even though it seems a hard beast to tame. It's a championship winning bike, a regular podium placer, and it just may be back to it's form from 2007. Whoever can tame the beast, like Stoner, has a chance at a motoGP title. Surely there is someone else out there capable of doing it.

damm posting that pic would extend his contract for another year at least.

post the youtube video and its worth another 2 years fo sho.

If Marco leave now it would be in mutual agreement with Ducati. It's come to a point where it's not about what he want's but what is good for both parties. It's not good for Melandri if he continue to come out last, and it's not good for Duacati that their factory rider is last.
The last part of your rant is true however: "Whoever can tame the beast, like Stoner, has a chance at a motoGP title." and that's exactly what Melandri and Ducati both think and know but it is clearly not for Melandri. Why should they both cling on to a non working relationship?

We could allways discuss work ethics and character but we are to far away from the inside to really have any founded opinion on the subject so we should be careful to judge.

+1

he has raced through some serious pain in the past, and has shown a lot of heart before, so IMO
he has plenty of "heart". this might be the death knell of his career or a stepping stone back up towards to top. lets find out which way he goes before passing judgement.

its already on youtube and its a stunning display of bike control, wasnt that in phillip island?

that sort of stuff i kinda miss.........

im not writing marco off just because 1 bike doesnt suit his style after reading the stories i believe ducati is only putting full effort in for 1 guy from the beggining.

1 bike stoner couldnt stay on
1 bike marco doesnt get on with at all

id call that pretty even, i think marco could have done well at somewhere like yamaha

Why would Ducati (a italian mfg'r) ignor Marco? Ducati wants to be the buns of a motorcycle sandwich with Casey on top and Marco on the bottom.

I don't care what MM has done in the past, I've lost respect for him. He should have kept his nose to the grinding stone and shown some effort.

All this stories about teams screwing their riders is ........, it's in their best interest to help both riders and get good results with as many bikes as possible. Marco simply sucks on the Duc and is obviously quitted mentally on this project.

I'm just looking forward to see who will be the next one to try to tame the red beast, IMO Gibernau, Elias or Canepa.

your kidding..... right???

Yeah I could have sworn he was already on a Ducati.

His results thus far have not warranted a rise to the Factory team, in fact I think he will probably lose his seat at seasons end.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pinky @ Jun 23 2008, 12:34 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>please dont say hayden. he will be even a bigger of a disaster.

it will be sete gibernau they need someone who can help with development and someone who can ride the bike good

seems the most likely thing to happen.

Nope, Elías was invited by Ducati to the factory to talk with Preziosi and the rest of engineers to explain them his problems which is not something normal for D'Antin riders. And it does make sense since he's actually the fastest (or maybe I should say less slow
<
) Ducati rider after Casey.
And do you think any top rider will want to ride the Desmosedici (alias career-gravedigger) after what it's happened to Capirossi and Marco?

Only riders desperate enough to wanna give it a try I can think of is Nicky and Hopper, but both have contracts till the end of the year, and Marco wont make it that far. So Ducati need something quick to fix this problem and there ain't that much to choose.

i reckon sete for end of this year, then in 09 bustista or simocelli.

they need a young guy who wont come with baggage and a range of excuses.

I am a Ducati rider and Fan...and if I get a choice in who should replace Marco then I take Hopper over Hayden and Spies over Hopper...Xaus over all of them except Bayliss to ride the GP9!

Absolutely and completely agreed. Hence my qualifier "It appears".

And I don't think i'm speaking out of my ..., Ducati have been reluctant to major change the bike to suit the other three Ducati riders. They only care about Stoner challenging for the title and not a consistant blend of results between all four of their riders.

Open your eyes to this, instead of being pulled in by the pro Ducati .... that the likes of MCN and Eurosport are giving you.
OPen my eyes, OK there buddy. I got this off the ducati site. They want Marco to win. If Marco isn't man enough to ride the Ducati then go ride for someone else. And they are NOT reluctant to change if they went to the Carbon Fiber Frame for the 09. Ducati has always used the trellis frame. I think you need to go back to school and learn your motogp.

LIVIO SUPPO (Ducati MotoGP Project Director)
"Casey has been extraordinary all weekend and he fully deserved to win. To watch him ride as he has done at Donington is fantastic. We have shown that we know how to stay strong, continue to work on our bike and this win is dedicated to everybody back at the factory who have never stopped working to put Casey in a position to win again. On the other side of the coin we're really disappointed for Marco because it was another very tough race for him and he couldn't even repeat his lap times from Friday. We realise this is a very difficult time for him. I think we have to stay close to him and try to help him in any way we can, so that he can find more faith in the package he has."
