I agree with Jumkie,Ducati has done what they can to help him.In fact they seem to spend Honda-money(trying everything in every direction) on solutions to aid him.Even though Ducati perhaps only have money to keep one kind of direction in developement, and in that case you make sure the guy who gave them the title gets happy. And you don't concider rebuilding the whole bike if Casey is doing well on it.
Besides,as i 've said before, i think Melandris future at Ducati is decided by what is written in the contract. They can't keep him,he can't stay.

Alongside the question who is replacing Melandri, i'm wondering, where will Melandri go to??? He is a very talented rider, so there will be teams after him. Will he replace Westy at Kawa? (still this year??) Or if Nicky tomorrow goes wide on the first corner and starts going to the back places (like almost every race this year), will Marco replace him this year????

I thought the forum decided that ride would go to Dovi.

I also agree that Ducati has done what they can to help Melandri. But after seeing Stoners's reaction to Melandri (!!!) on qualification... I think it's much better for Melandri to find a new team(mate). It tells the whole story, isn't it ?

Yes I know. I would like that too. But I talking this year. But thinking a little bit, you're right. They will keep Nicky and then take Dovi next year!

Haha Curve would really wish that I was 12.

And I don't think i'm speaking out of my ..., Ducati have been reluctant to major change the bike to suit the other three Ducati riders. They only care about Stoner challenging for the title and not a consistant blend of results between all four of their riders.

Well I have to honestly say that I have over the years watched Melandri and enjoyed what he has bought to the tracks on a number of occasions, but this year he has disappointed greatly. If the parting (if true) is his choice then all power to him, but why ride Donnington (assume that no replacement is available)?

Interestingly though, it would seem that the possibility of MM leaving has been around for a week or so (prior to the tests with Gibbers). It is from these tests where CS has admitted that the Ducati made huge leaps forward in his opinion and that he now hast he bike he needs.

Given that this coincides with the probability (using media reports) taht MM would leave, is it possible that Ducati had been focusing to much on solving MM's issues and the other riders/machines have suffered? Bir saying deliberately or in a (supposed) DP/NH way, but moore just wondering if a side effect of trying to sole MM's issues was that others suffered?

Either way, if MM does go I will be disappointed in the Hoffmanesque attitude but as we all know, once you lose motivation than in this game you become dangerous and it is best that you get out.

Fully expect him back though in either MGP or WSBK at some stage.

Ok, I suppose any of use can make these kind of statements, much around here is speculation; but we usually back on our theories with a shred of evidence. What do you got or know that the rest of the world (and Melandri by his own admission) doesn't know to make such bold statements?

common melandri, save your career, do one more power slide. even if your last that will prove to everyone on this forum your talents!!!

I don't think Duc treat him badly but you may have a point in general.

He's is the bridesmaid (maybe even the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th bridesmaid at this point) of the Italian market. He doesn't get a lot of sponsorship support. Right after he left Gresini, San Carlo showed up to back DeAngelis

Melandri is definitely the brunt of a lot bad circumstances. I wonder if he is a passive-aggressive version of Biaggi.

My point too,Ducati does what they can afford. They build one bike, and it would be a waist of money or at least a very big gamble for them to build a new bike for three other riders that maybe suit them and maybe suit Stoner.Stoner has said in many interviews that they didn't build the bike for him,it just was a perfect match. They didn't change the 08 too much and the developement of that however because they have to make sure it suits Stoner,he has to be among the best to pay for the developement costs.
That is just too bad for other riders who can't ride it.

If i may slightly be off topic,I think Honda on the other hand have the money for two different bikes.
And i also think they have,Nicky's bike is probarbly totally different to Pedrobot's.
Not just seat/tank/fairing but the whole chassi too,and ofcourse the engine management and mapping too even before the pneumatic engine. It wouldn't surprise me one bit.

I think 46 is alluding to an incident just out of Gerrards, when Melandri appeared to have held up Casey, prompting him to glare in his direction. At least he didn't lash out with his boot this time.

Yep, plus Honda seems to have a thing that they do not like to have riders return who left their little Honda world. Marco left Honda for Ducati. I do not think Honda would want him back, no matter how good of a talent he is.

Does anybody remember that temper tantrum Marco threw up on his diary? I wonder if Honda still remember?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>From Crash.net March 2007: Gresini's Marco Melandri has vented his frustration at Honda after finishing just fifth and eighth in the opening rounds of the 2007 MotoGP season.

"I'm very disappointed and angry as I spent more than half the race literally coasting around, thinking just about finishing," the triple 2006 race winner wrote on his official website after Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix. "I couldn't ride my bike, it was just carrying me around the track. I'd have liked to have cried, just to get it off my chest, but I didn't manage it.

"I feel really alone, all through the winter it was said that I would be an official [Honda] rider, on par with Dani [Pedrosa] and Nicky [Hayden] but in actual fact I'm still carrying the same problem I had on my first day on the 800 and nobody is doing anything about it for me.

"...I'm not crazy about the front [end]. I'm not managing to brake hard enough to overtake and, as soon as I try to do that, I always take lots of risks and destroy the front tyre within three laps, after which my race is over. After the race [on Sunday] I went off straight away to get changed... I was too furious (and still am). I just told my crew, sadly in a bad way for which I later apologised, that for the test I want a radical change on the front because we can't go on like this.

"I'm tired of all the crap I'm hearing that I am psychologically fragile," he continued, "fk I race motorcycles not bicycles, if the bike or tyres aren't working I can hardly get off and make them turn.

"Have you ever asked yourselves why Yamaha started winning with Valentino? Maybe because they told themselves 'damn with all the money we've spent to get him, could it be the case of spending some more to do everything that he asks?' I've never had that opportunity, therefore it's only when I manage to 'make' myself like everything at my disposal that I can be really motivated. Marco's Diary Link

There was way more on his diary at the time. He blames Honda all the way. He might be right, but he shouldn't have cried like a baby on his personal website airing out his laundry. If Honda take him back, well that may be because they have new management, because I really doubt he left Honda on good terms.

After reading his diary, it struck me what a child-like immature, primo Dana, crying baby he sounded like. Grow up ..... act professional.

I had given him a pass back then since I also had frustrations with Honda and their performance of their bike being a Hayden fan. He seemed to validate the problems the bike was having to all the non believers that just could NOT accept Nicky was having problems defending his title for lack of a better machine. But these two guys handled it completely opposite, Melandri acted totally UNprofessional, and Hayden quietly went about his business trying to find a solution as a professional.
