Should have hit the kill switch....like when you sneakily hook down the kickstand on your mate's bike at the lights (doesn't work soo good on Ducatis)

Mate done that to me, switch was broken. Needless to say next left hander I was on my .... It was only an old 250 gixxer but I was royally pissed off.

Or for a real laugh, flick the launch control off.

Brilliant!

My knowledge of bike technology is 30 years behind the times. Always was very basic anyhow.

A few years ago I went to the first bike show I've been to in years (very depressing) and they

had Spies Bike and another GP bike and I went up and grabbed the clutch and .... me it

was stiffer than JK's willie at a leather thong show. The tech guys for the bikes said that this was

actually how hard they are to pull on a fully adjusted GP bike. I can't believe there isn't some

kind of electronic assist, otherwise all these guys would be going to JK's two-for-one sale

surgeon to get arm pump operations every week.

It looked pretty easy thumb  pull for Marquez, didn't look that stiff

And they only use them for launching off the line. I believe the clutch is redundant after that.

Not totally - you can still see them using the clutch a bit under brakes on the way into corners, especially the tighter low gear turns.

I doubt the factory honda's do with their seamless up and down box. Not sure about the yams as i believe they only have seamless up box. According to Neil Spalding the clutch is only used for starting and stopping with no use in-between.

Bayliss used to eat Ducati gearboxes for breakfast. Often I tend not to use the clutch when changing up beyond second gear. Frequently he didn't employ the clutch on the downshift!!! - just forceably banged it down a cog. I remember him retiring on the 996 at the Lauzitsring one year (or one of the German rounds), due to a gearbox failure which was attributed to that.

Im pretty confident that the M1 would have a seamless link on the downshift. One of the many benefits of the design is increased stability under deceleration to enhance corner entry - something Valentino in particular favours.

That makes more sense then. Maybe Marc is trying to find out how Jorge always does better starts than <strike>him</strike> everone else.

Well that's put it another way then. According to Spalding, only the Honda has seamless up and down. So if the yam has it down it doesn't have it up, or vis versa.

i think seamless up is more important, and i think this is what yams have. for the downshift they can use the clutch

That's .......... penalty point and a back of the grid start should be put on MM..

Around here you get shot for touching a man's bike without permission. Sneaky little spanish turd.

Mini gun then a hand grenade down the Y fronts. I'd expect nothing less from my Texan buddies.

Forget penalty point, chop a finger off.

What's with the lenient attitude towards punishment on this forum ? Forget the finger, chop a hand off

I sat on Ben Spies 2011 Yamaha MotoGP bike at Indianapolis last year... felt pretty darn light to me. Luckily it was the 2011 bike and not the 2012, otherwise it may have self destructed.... we all saw what happened in that race..
