As I said, as a Doohan and Stoner fan (I actually posted as Doohan fan on another forum) Jorge as a prickly and disagreeable personality who delivers on the track is my kind of guy.
I would have thought you after all these years on the forum with all the Rossi/Valeban stuff for many of those years would have not been someone who judged riders on how likeable they were/whether a high percentage of fans liked them yourself.
I can appreciate a great talent without turning a blind eye to his foibles. Some of us mere mortals derive a certain satisfaction in those contrasts that the make the “Gods” a bit more human. The confident man at the top of his field, who, up close, gets flustered and has the same insecurities as lesser men is a stock archetype in the world of humor as much as some of the more established ones dating back to Commedia Del Arte days. We love them because at some level because they are us. Lorenzo’s present downturn is genuinely tragic, and you know the old saying: Tragedy plus time equals comedy. I can and have enjoyed the fruits of geniuses, like say Michael Jackson while disapproving of his personal behavior. I can (and I’m not bragging) also walk and chew gum at the same time.
