He is well known, but hardly a superstar in Australia, and even when he were racing he would get less news media coverage than would Rossi outside of his championships (and then, the coverage would also focus on Rossi)

Ti back this up, the NSW channel 9 news will discuss who may be on pole but then immediately reference where Valentino is on the grid (they do not even mention Jack Miller unless he does very well). In Australia, Rossi is more revered by followers, fans and the yellow masses alike than has been any Australian during the Rossi era in any category of bike or car racing

Interesting though that you seem so enamoured with the very person you detest so much that you follow his twitter account, but hey, who am I to judge

For you and I yes, but in motorsports many deliberate actions can occur at slow or even extremely slow speed (turning cars on tracks, running bikes wide ala Doohan at Eastern Creek t2 etc) so to say you slow down to avoid it is not entirely true .......... it all depends on your motivation

I've been in the position of driving through a crowd of people. I drove very slowly as to avoid carnage. I would have hit the gas had I wanted to use my car as a weapon.

Did you aim at any of the people whilst driving slowly and were you in control of how someone you hit might fall and of what any following vehicles might do if you knocked them to the ground?

In most situations either you or the crowd would have right of way, and either you should have stopped driving or they should have gotten out of the way, neither of which would have given you the right to run into them in any case.

A MotoGP race is an entirely different situation in the first place, and hence what you were attempting was false moral equivalence as is your wont, and in the Sepang race concerned MM was attempting to negotiate a corner at a routine speed on a routine racing line while not attempting to make a pass, which he is entitled to do without another rider making a non-racing move in drastically slowing and changing his line to intersect him, as RD actually ruled.

i had NO problem with lorenzo up until last season. and only mildly do now. I find him to be just a bit of a ......, that's all. my motives aren't driven by hate like yours. he was absolutely inspiring when he came back form the collarbone stuff. but then he just got lame.

just because you guys here believe rossi is a ...., you folks make the case that no one else on earth can be a .....
Rossi did something to make me mad therefore anything anyone else does means nothing. - that is your take.

I readily admit that the thumbs down was poor (and recognise that he quickly and seemingly genuinely apolgised and retracted it).

Certainly is not everyone's cup of tea (just as no rider would be) but I see all around the place that JL is a ...... or any other variant and so genuinely wonder what it is that he has done. However even before the events of late last year took place, a lot of people I know personally(not just VR fans) were less than impressed with his way of saying things in a cocky arrogant way . If he could make his private persona public he would be more popular I'm sure.

I may well be wrong but I believe that the perception of this is more a 'lost in translation' type of thing in as much as English is not his native language and along with words, body posture and language are open to interpretation. Often when a person is a little out of their comfort zone the body language seems defensive even when it is not intended and as such they can be seen as aloof.

The shame is, that as you say, often the public perception is a long way from the reality of the person themselves and I as one enjoy that these guys (not all, but many) keep keep their real personality hidden as it is not our place (the general public) to have the rights to know everything and impede on their personal lives.

These guys are just workers and like near all workers, the work personality does not always translate to the private person.
