I may well be wrong but I believe that the perception of this is more a 'lost in translation' type of thing in as much as English is not his native language and along with words, body posture and language are open to interpretation. Often when a person is a little out of their comfort zone the body language seems defensive even when it is not intended and as such they can be seen as aloof.

The shame is, that as you say, often the public perception is a long way from the reality of the person themselves and I as one enjoy that these guys (not all, but many) keep keep their real personality hidden as it is not our place (the general public) to have the rights to know everything and impede on their personal lives.

These guys are just workers and like near all workers, the work personality does not always translate to the private person.

I would agree with this. We are all different people at work , as apposed to on a day off, and chilled out.

Also the lost in translation comment is very valid. I studied Spanish for 3 months and in that time learnt a bit, For example we might say ," i am 20 years old", in Spanish it is" i HAVE 20 years.". we might say" Do you speak English?" they just say "speak English?" (which might be interpreted as abrupt/rude ) we might say for example , my mum's pretty , they say "my mum, she is pretty", etc etc , and from experience trying to not say anything daft or ridiculous in spanish, was hard I once read a sentence about eating suitcases... i meant biscuits :giggle: Jorge has learnt over the years to be careful in what he says , and the Jorge we see today is uber cool:cool:

I agree about everything but the last part, he's cool in person but in press conference he's well out of his comfort zone and says stuff that is aggranoying , brilliant rider , clumsy in media. Just my opinion of course.

I can just post the entire Monty Python argument sketch on a loop if you like, which would summarise nearly all your posts on this thread and elsewhere.

Attempting to bore me into submission with content free posts hasn't worked so far and will continue not to work, btw. I guess as a tactic it at least avoids the internal contradictions in most posts which characterise some of your comrades in arms.

What?!?! It's been argued to death.
I have never accused you of having no arguments, confining myself to pointing out the flaws in most of those arguments.

I had thought Daniboy was a separate poster, but if you are now informing me otherwise so be it.

Steve, you're an idiot.

If the announcers who are the biggest Rossi homers out there aren't saying Lorenzo is doing it in the manner you claim he is, it means you are wrong.

You and a few other boppers have this nasty habit of being proven wrong, and then refusing to acknowledge that you guys have no ....... idea what you're talking about.

The odds are quite good that if Rossi decided to contradict 600 years of scientific discovery in saying that the sun revolves around the Earth, and any one of us said ........, you along with a few others would be frothing at the mouth saying "YOU'RE OUT TO GET ROSSI THAT'S ALL IT IS ABOUT!"

You're so enamored and taken with Rossi that if he stood next to you, whipped his .... out, started pissing on you, you would look down and stare, only for him to say, "It's raining" while you stood there like a dolt nodding in agreement while stating, "Yes...you're right, it's absolutely raining. What a beautiful sun in the sky don't you think?"

seek some help fella.
that's quite the imagination. some serious freudian .... or something.

Other methods of defense include repression, a kind of withholding of conflicting ideas from recall; projection, the attribution to others of one’s own rejected tendencies; and reaction formation, turning into its opposite a tendency rejected in oneself—as in excessive generosity as a defense...

Guess what Steve?

Your claim about the tricycle was debunked.

Get over it.

Oh man. I was expecting a better comeback than that. Why don't you take that weak stuff to the park where maybe the squirrels will care.

Tell that to the Hughes family or the families of the other 10 players (approximate) who have passed away this year alone (Phil Hughes was not this year) from being struck by the ball on either the head or heart region.

No offence Kesh, but in Australia more people die playing lawn bowl (heart related issues) and from cricket (Heart and being struck) than die from motorsports

No offense taken. Those are some interesting tidbits of sport info. Lawn bowl? I thought that was something families played in the back yard.

I want to say that anyone who dies playing cricket probably had it coming - but I'm sure some fool will take it seriously.

I'm actually surprised that there aren't more Futbol guys lying around in comas considering all the bouncing of balls off of heads; maybe they should have to wear helmets.

To be fair, while there are few deaths in MotoGp, there are numerous deaths in the small time club racing scene in AMA that don't get much press. We have numerous deaths of high school kids playing American football - and those numbers are huge compared to the dearth of deaths in MotoGp - but then it's a question of odds, isn't it? There's tens of thousands of kids playing amateur sports and only a relative handful who are racing at the GP level. If there were as many people racing MotoGp as there are playing Futbol, the death statistics would necessarily be higher.

Not a Ryder fan and never have been ........... that is not going to change as he again has that little dig that he seems to so regularly at Lorenzo purely because for Ryder, smiles and laughter (real or fake) are more to his liking that the serious or brooding of others.

IMO only, but the obvious dislike in the comment renders the rest of the article as clap trap and poorly written

The Simoncelli line, whilst likely correct is a disgraceful attempt at correlating Lorenzo as a lesser person because of his comments.

True.

But you can encourage fans in certain behavioural traits should you so wish

This was done after Phillip Island and was a generous move, sadly the lesson was not learnt and it should not have come to what it has today

Leadership in a few areas has been lacking

And yet for years we have heard differently about and from one of the riders themselves

We either hear from the fans that 'man, isnt it good he is out there taking it easy to improve the show for us' or from the rider 'we put on a great show for the fans today'.

IMO only, but the majority of riders are there purely for themselves but some (and it is not just one) require the adulation in their lives as they have lived in a somewhat sheltered world where they have been the centre of the universe, and as such, they need the adulation on a daily basis.

Rossi has lost 11 to date (up to and including 2015)
Stoner lost 10

Also Talps (welcome back btw), Stoner did win on the Ducati after 2007 .......... he won races not championships

Interestingly and to follow your line, One coould well say that Rossi has also not won on the Yamaha since 2009 but I am sure that you would argue 'oh but he has'

As for CS beating the twitter keyboard, well for a person that many claim is so irrelevant to the sport, he and his comments seem to have relevance within your world do they not

Why not just be happy that the Cows won again last night, the Broncs are doing well, the origin will be a whitewash and that Vale will once again be the official team #1

Not at all convinced this is Talps. The poor spelling, poor grammar and punctuation, combined with mindless misanthropic bile conjures up another well-known Stoner hater.

Oh man. I was expecting a better comeback than that. Why don't you take that weak stuff to the park where maybe the squirrels will care.

A few sentences will suffice as there's not much more to say since you were proven wrong, and refuse to acknowledge it.

Try to follow along with the adults DJ Gazzy Deaf. Stoners twitter was brought up in this thread, so I like everyone else, had a look.

Ah maybe so, but the tweet you posted was a number of months old so you must have enjoyed the reading Talps.

BTW, how is Qld these days or have you moved ?

Oh, And that is Sir DJ Gazzy Deaf to you

You guys give rossi so much crap, but when he loses he often says "the other guys were faster than me"
but lorenzo says stuff like- if i didn't have this certain problem i would have won the race by a large margin.
just stuff like that.
and the pit board for instance. toddlers ride tricycles. it's a .... deny it all you want but it is what it is. why not use something more relevant like a front of a bike behind the rear of a bike. i'll tell you why. because that wouldn't be an attempt to embarass someone.
can't even smile when he takes second place.
just rubs me the wrong way. no big thang.

All fair Steeve, and just as JL seems to rub you, VR also rubs people the wrong way for many, dare I say it, similar reasons where people question what is real and what is fake, or where comments are pointed and yet reported as fun.

FWIW, I have heard VR make excuses and I have heard JL say that he was not good enough on the day and so really it all comes down to that which we hear or want to hear (I am sure you an I could hear the same comment and yet interpret differently)

As for the trike thing, I do not see it as demeaning but hey, if you do then good for you as it is just one of those interpretation things (I see it as a being followed by sign but not demeaning)

Totally Libby, human body language and language barriers will lead to misinterpretations of comments and/or the intent

Personally, whilst I find JL's interviews somewhat sullen, I enjoy that which he has to say and whilst sometimes he does put his foot in his mouth, he is also the first to quickly apologise if or once he realises the misinterpretation or that he was out of line.

Whilst to many he may well be THE ......, for me he is growing on me in the way he has handled the .... fight that was not of his doing and the subsequent fall out.

No offense taken. Those are some interesting tidbits of sport info. Lawn bowl? I thought that was something families played in the back yard.

Yep, basically heart attacks and cardiac arrests and interestingly, the last I saw was that the percentage numbers was decreasing as younger people took up lawn bowls

I want to say that anyone who dies playing cricket probably had it coming - but I'm sure some fool will take it seriously.

It is actually an under-recognised sport in terms of danger in some places as it is not a global sport

There was a study or statistic done years ago that placed cricket as having far less time than baseball in terms of batsmen reactions as the ball is bowled around 140 - 160kmh from a distance of around 19 metres (from bowler arm to batsman position) with a deviation factor off the pitch which varies from pitch to pitch.

Hughes was the highest profile death and was struck under his helmet, but in my local region the club I played has suffered death on field (health related) 2 years ago, with the year before that another guy was killed when struck on the herat. All of these occured in what would be termed park cricket.

I'm actually surprised that there aren't more Futbol guys lying around in comas considering all the bouncing of balls off of heads; maybe they should have to wear helmets.

I recall reading somewhere that a number of high level soccer players have been found to suffer a level of brain injury from heading the ball, which would not surprise me

That said, they also have a number of health related detahs on field (one only last week in the Belgium league)

Far more deaths occur at club level and actually if you think of it from a pure death or injury statistic, MotoGP is relatively low on the numbers.

I read on the weekend a change.org petition for changes to be made to Barbagello raceway in West Aust as the 5th rider died on the weekend in 12 years at the track which is concerning as they are being killed through striking of solid barriers

Close your mouth Sir. Vale's got something for all you haters tomorrow

Methinks you have it wrong

The last thing any hater will want to do is be near VR were he to win as afterall, if we so hate then why be involved (I mean, not many haters of Rossi will troll his twitter account now)

Besides which, I suspect that VR will not be the one doing the Jizzing but that will be done by the likes of the masses masturbating in unison at the prospect that the great man is back to his best. So I suggest taking a towel with you to the living room as you sit and watch as afterall, you wouldn't want to make to big of a mess now
