J, being totally fair Stoner has always tended to credit his teams (including LCR) and this is something that seems so often overlooked when he is mentioned. Yes, he has at the same time often been vocally critical of such things as Tyre suppliers or the Marlboro back office shenanigans, but his team has been sacrosanct in most instances, and specifically in his MGP time.

I do strongly feel that his team is the over looked or under rated aspect to his success (not by Stoner I may say) and feel that the teaming of Gabbarini etc with MM will be interesting in how that develops as I do rate the team that supported Stoner as equal to any.

Gabarrini was also in Dovi's wish list when he discussed things with Ducati, however he preferred to stay at Honda (who had promptly made him and the team an offer). A sufficient proof of their value.

Marc Marquez the super-talented youngster inheriting the bike and team of the retiring champion... a bit of deja vu?  :)

We just might see Casey back in GP. A one year break is a perfect amount of time to recharge the batteries, and according to Nakamoto, there were some lingering doubts at the end as to retire or not.

Casey is a rider I really love. I couldn't imagine anything better than racing with him. Casey is fast. Really fast. We were constantly shocked that the bikes we had made could go so fast when Casey was in the saddle. When Casey is confident and relaxed about his riding, there is nobody in MotoGP who can come close. After winning the Australian GP this year for the sixth consecutive time, his comment was just that he would have been even faster if he hadn't still been suffering from an injured ankle. However fast he rides, he's still always aiming to go faster. We held a farewell party for him on the Monday night after the Valencia GP. After the party was over, the two of us stayed on, chatting, and I found I couldn't control my tears. I really felt so sad about him leaving MotoGP. The following day I was asked by a number of Casey's friends what I said to him that night. When I asked why they wanted to know, they said that Casey, who had never wavered until then in his decision to retire, had said "maybe after all I should keep on racing..." Right from the first day Casey came to ride for Repsol Honda, pretty much every day he came up with something new that astonished us. I don't know of any other rider that is such fun to work with. I hope he quickly recovers from his injury, and if he ever decides to come back he will find a warm welcome waiting. I told him that's always on offer.

Pov, why are you always so link challenged?

Anyway, thats really a sincere and emotional expression by Nakamoto.  Damn, reminds me what we have lost in GP as far as sheer talent on a GP bike.  Ah, and what are we left with in exchange, the force-feeding of the Principal Elf.  (Oh and make no mistake, we will at some point this year see the second act that will make Ringling Bros proud.)

Oh well, nobody forced Stoner to leave.

And it is amazing how fruit cakes like Talpa used to try and make us believe that even his team hated him.

It is also a bit of a difference to the relationship between Honda and Rossi after Rossi left yet the same fruit cakes try to have us believe that all teams would fall over each other to have the Great Rossi.

Would appear that it is Stoner who in fact is the classiest of the two.

It was just a small part of a long interview. But if you insist

When Nakamoto was choking on his .... he almost considered staying? What a hero.

Once again Stoner shows us how gutless and unprincipled he is. Here every Aussie got behind him and his little moral battle about sticking it to the evil boss. He was every Aussies wet dream. A modern day Leonidas who would fall on the sword for all future racers and RV drivers. . Such a noble cause by such a noble little boy. What happenned to make him think about changing his mind. Were the small fish in his pond not compliant enough and getting in his way of the bigger fish. Did the deer not respect him enough even though he was the best hunter out there. Did they .... on his doorstep and make funny deer noises outside his window. Did he not like how the kangaroos restructured the forest so that older has been hunters could hunt once again?

Is this the long overdue admittance that the kangaroo's of GP restructured the forest so older hunters could hunt once again.

You have achieved step one, only 11 more to go.

I think there was also something in there about stoner being the best hunter in the forest.

Again, as I imagine you would agree, it is his life; if he wants to stay retired I am happy, if he feels like coming back I am also happy as long as his heart is completely in it.

I think the "evil bosses" if there are such for him were dorna and marlboro man, rather than honda or ducati corse, whom he has not really ever disparaged. I think part of his whole disillusionment last year was with the late rule changes which he probably saw as aimed at him; he may have been incorrect about this as lex has argued, but certainly there were no moves to nobble honda when doohan won 5 in a row or rossi won 3 in a row. At one stage (it was hard to keep up) it looked as though there would be no factories to work for in dorna's glorious future motogp, and I am fairly sure he still would not want to work any more directly for dorna.

This appears to stem, with out putting goatboy's interpretation on things given that every indication would seem to be that stoner's inclination is towards female companionship, from a private conversation with nakomoto, not a public recantation anyway. I will concede there appears to be some courtship going on, a surprise given HRC have marquez and pedrosa and could perhaps have had rossi.

I think Stoner is finally figuring out what all married guys know. Front end chatter is infinitely more bearable then endless chatter from the wife

i wish i could like that more than once! spot the .... on!

The worst is when getting FEC while giving the wife a backie, then all she can do when you stop is whine on about dangerous riding... sheesh!

Never happy: "You never take me for a ride" - "You ride too fast"

Can't win :) Can't kill 'em :(

My wants are purely selfish, but i will be happy for him whatever he decides.

Could you imagine Stoner coming back as a third rider on a Repsol in 2014? That would be amazing, Pedro, Stoner, MM and Bradl on factory RC213V's, Lorenzo, Rossi on Factory M1's. Add another year of experience for MM and Bradl... Maybe Ducati get's their .... together. It would be 2006 all over again.
