There is nothing legendary about Stoner, he is not a real fighter, he gives up so early in his career, so afraid of the challenge that he decided to retire and go fishing instead.
My wants are purely selfish, but i will be happy for him whatever he decides.
This coming from Mr Principle. Whatever happenned to your " a man is only as good as his word" approach to life?

If Stoner comes back it shows his complete lack of principle. His inability to stick with a cause that he would previously have us believe would cause the demise of GP. Maybe thats just an Aussie trait. After all every single Australian is descended by an unprincipled granddaddy.

stoners just taken a page out of the Fatt Mladin handbook. Let me quote
Chapter 22 "Retirement"
After realizing that the door kicked me in the ... on the way out and nobody mentions my name anymore I became jealous and developed an inferiority complex. My solution to this problem is to find ways to interject negative comments about other riders and other series when ever I can. Also float rumors about my return every 6 months or so to boost my own overinflated ego

And if he does none of these things you will just decide that he has anyway.

The great thing about stoner retiring is that he is still really annoying people of your ilk in his retirement.

I think the main reason most people got annoyed when Stoner decided to call it a day is because he showed lack of guts to continue the challenge.

Fans, including many Aussies are not too happy when their national hero chose the best timing to retire and go fishing, at a time when he is regarded as the best of the current generation.

For example, will you consider someone a legendary gambler if he goes to a poker table in a casino, placed a bet, won that bet. Then he ran away happy with just one round or two rounds of wins. That is not the stuff of real legend.

Maybe true, but at the same time, it would show a SMART man who knows that at some time, we all lose.

I beg to differ. Thats a true legend ....... like Stoner ...... though he may have stayed for a few more rounds than you suggest

PS. love the name .......  it really suits your style and logic. Is this Roger?

If not ......... Roger was a guy on here a while ago who stayed a few rounds ..... got whooped incessantly ....... then left. Rog. was a legend.

Though he didn't use enough smilies for my liking frankly.

WHo's your idea of a legend!!???

2 premier class titles,  2 more than any australians other than wayne gardner and mick doohan, 38 premier class wins, more than anyone at all other than 3 blokes called valentino rossi, giacomo agostini and mick doohan. If this is enough for him, I suspect it is more than sufficient for most of his fans.

Unless you are Mick Doohan or Jack Brabham, you can .... off.

Michael, who doesn't swear just told them to .... off.

That is pure gold.

Any sane person would not call Stoner a legend.

Lets analyze deeply about it, is it right to call Stoner legend? Is it right to call a rider who chose to run away and go fishing in the lakes a legend?

Is it right to call a rider who fleed away from the challenge of rising Marc Marquez a legend?

Is it right to call a rider who does not want to give opposition an opportunity to challenge him a legend?

Running away from the sport that makes you, is quite cowardly, the timing Stoner decided to quite shows his true character, lack of real guts. Just when the fans calls him the best after Rossi's failure in Ducati, he chose to run away, otherwise he is afraid one day other riders will expose him. What a cowardly timing....

Could have been worse.

He could have left, with a teary press conference, a few races into the season, after wasting his WC winning factory seat.

WOW - I was never a fan, even as a kid... little turds in a bowl, little turd on da net...

Your are so humorless and dense that you still take me seriously

You are the angriest little troll on this forum. Go back and look at your posts. Every single one of them has a bitter angry comment about someone else. Une Ezy, Uncle Ezy Uncle Ezy Yellow Clown Yellow Clown Yellow Clown. Every ....... post. The difference between me and you is that my posts come from a place of humor while yours come from a spinning ball of hate. All you do is post anti Rossi anti everything and create negative little scenarios in your little bitter head because you cant imagine anything positive could actually happen in life

I tried to leave you alone but you keep taking shots at me. Go back to anger management little buddy. Can you give me your address so I can make sure to warn the schools around you about a potential mental patient that may go postal

For those denying Stoner's status,Is Barry Sanders a legend. For those of you who may not know who he is. He is an American football player, who walked away from the game in the prime of his career. A shoe in to hold the most hallowed record in football, the all time rushing record, simply walked away one day and never looked back.

The record he walked away from wasn't as important, he says. Fed up with football, Sanders lost interest in chasing Payton's career rushing record.

"I had already achieved a level of success that gave me much satisfaction and pride. I didn't need to pass Walter to prove that to myself," says Sanders.

Any of that sound familiar

No, you missed my point, bluntly though I put it, perhaps unsurprisingly as you do not appear to be very bright. It was that he has achieved more in motorsport than any australians other than mick doohan and jack brabham, and whilst they may be in a position to judge him a quitter (they haven't as fas I know) it is highly unlikely that you are, and nor is there any reason to suppose that you speak for australian bike racing fans. .

Hey, what's the go with the Mods, quietly creeping in here and taking my "C" bomb out of my post.

Why is moving on to the next challenge in life quiting? Jordan was a loser for trying baseball? To me it added to his legacy, that he had the courage to step outside his comfort zone and try something else. Unlike Jordan many have said Stoner is still young enough to try another sport and be successfull.

People annoyed with Stoner, specifically Aussies called Talpa hate him no matter what he does or achieves. Records are perhaps more important to overinflated egos who lap up the attention and have books and faster movies dedicated to their greatness.
