Oil backed up - that was the huge gush of smoke out of the exhaust. That shouldn't be a problem, the fire on the other hand was burning under the bike so who knows what damage has been done. Added to that these bike don't particularly like fire extinguishers.

I'm amazed if CS has escaped with just a 5,000 euro fine - surely that should be a penalty even a race suspension. I'm informed that Max copped a 3,000 Euro fine for his recent tap on Melandri's cheek. Stoner dead armed RDP actually quite hard while riding and could easily have put him into the wall. I'm now thinking of Hoppers one race ban, and Tamada's penalty at Motegi for his contact with Sete.

Further inconsistency from Race Direction who clearly don't want to jeopardise a closely contended championship.

I actually hope they see this reason that you named, as a race ban will only ruin the things more for Stoner but also for us. Let's hope they talk hard with him and give him a warning or at most a few seconds penalty.

I,m amazed why this happens to him this much? or maybe other riders dont talk about it.

get over it, how about a 5 week ban? lets make motogp even more boring than it is... i personally would of liked to see a end of grid penalty, i would of loved to see him ride through the field toady and take victory

Pinky it isn't appropriate to punch another rider for any reason no matter how hard he did it....sorry but you have no legitimate argument to defend Stoner on this occasion.

Casey cops a lot of completely unwarranted criticism but on this occasion he is wrong even if the move by DePuniet was reckless and stupid.

This isn't WWF or a smash up derby FFS!

Stoner is an ...!! He should be made to start from the back of the grid.

Agree - at the very least.

I'm not looking forward to the sprawling threads on this subject which will no doubt multiply over the next few weeks, but were Valentino to have done this - not that he ever would, forget the threads which would have spawned we would have needed an entirely new forum to cope with the outcry.

I'm now recalling another Hopper incident...what did John cop for lashing out at was it Checa with his boot at Laguna a few years back? There was no contact made and I'm sure he was fined a similar amount.

ha. i've seen every rider wave there hands at other riders.... only rossi boopers point out when stoner does it.

hard to stay relevent these days when your riding around mid pack

But Squigs, Butler did say it is a contact sport

hahhaha comon anyone who thinks a puch would send RDP flying into the fall is friggen delusional. hey i put it to you no matter how hard you puch me, especially with the momentum of the bike, there is NO WAY in hell it was dangerous.

but keep telling yourself its dangerous. eventually youll beleive it too.

Agree totally. I thought a grid penalty would have been appropriate.

But I don't like the fact that riders who are causing potentially dangerous situations at high speeds are getting warnings & nothing more.

I think your penalty is too high. A fine is what would be in order. Don't forget that the officials are the most at fault and have contributed to the incident more than the riders.

Also Stoner used his fist which I don't condone but I do understand. Others have used their bike as a weapon on many occasions and nothing has been done.

Also I reckon Stoner would take DePuniet if they settle it out the back of the pits. The Euro's are just prima donna metro men. Stoner would whip his arse Aussie style.

I haven't seen it, but if he deliberately made physical contact with a rider on the race track no matter how feigned the punch or how much provocation it can't be condoned.

I can't agree with a points loss nor with a race suspension primarily because there has been a problem and the problem has not been addressed when it should have been a long time ago.

I hope Stoner now comes out and smokes the field which I suspect he will do. I predict a 10+sec win from Stoner.

Can anyone confirm if Lorenzo lost the engine and if so was it the race engine?

It would seem harsh I agree - particularly after Jerez where the innocent party involved lost at least 20 championship points whilst the instigator of the crash was able to continue and salvage some.

However, this needs to be a harsh penalty even if there are extenuating circumstances and the fact that this has happened in the past to Stoner on more than one occasion doesn't warrant his current response. Some of the blame for this incident must lie at the feet of race direction who have allowed this to occur one too many times.

Anyway hopefully something good will arise from this situation and ALL the riders are put on notice that this will no longer be tolerated.

You and your comments have never been worth of a reply from me, that's just to inform you. Thanks a lot that you see me different than yourself.

This illustrates how much you understand about this sport and your lack of appreciation over how sensitive these bikes are to rider input. You obviously have never ridden a motorcycle either. The punishment is over the intent, but also the possible consequences.

The only thing I like about the off season is the fact that you and your asinine posts are both absent.

I suggest you shut the .... up and enjoy the finish to this wonderful 125 race.

125 was excellent! Amazing Maverick Vinales on that last lap! Apart from winning, he is the youngest Spanish rider to win. This is beating Lorenzo, Pedrosa. Looks like Spain has talent for years to come!

Just a little inside info- He was named Maverick because of the movie Top Gun.

Just to confirm I have not condoned Stoner's actions. I posted on the incident first and even then I said that Stoner had gone to far this time. I do understand Stoner's frustration at years of inaction. He tried to fix the problems by going to and participating in the safety commission but gave up because of the incompetence and bias of Butler and co.

It is similar to the bullied kid that was all over youtube and was in the press a couple of months back. He took it over and over again and then snapped and struck back. You can't condone his actions but you can certainly understand them.

I agree that hopefully something will happen to rectify the situation but I doubt it. After all a rider died last year and was miss handled by the marshals yet come this year the marshals still had no clear indication of what their role actually is and how they are to carry it out. The Race Direction lead by Butler needs to be stood down and someone with credibility and authority put in its/his place.

Fastest in every session he don't need to be getting worked up over piddling .... like one lap in the warm up.

we just need someone to die before stoner is vindicated.... untill then keep the bashing going, coz arm waving is so terrible thing to do and can hurt many a feelings

The odds for this race on motogp.com are silly; unless lorenzo is not starting because he has broken his hand he will still podium in this race.

I think for the sake of the championchip ONLY, the fine would suffice, although they should have fined Depuniet as well as both riders were at fault.

There should be a very clear line in the sand drawn - ANYTHING like this including stoners antics at every other rider on the grid (he seems to think he should have sessions on track by himself) will NOT be tolerated and will be met by severe penalities. At the the same time ALL riders should be made aware that riding slowly on the racing line will also not be tolerated and will also suffer severe penalties.

Finally they should string race direction, in particular Butler up out back of the pit garages and throw torque wrenches at his nuts all day on Monday & see how he likes being put in dangerous situations!

There's a separate thread dedicated to this and some haven't watched it yet!!!! - I should empty your inbox. Expect to be deluged with more hate mail than Casey Stoner when our American friends eventually join us...many of which rely on highlights.
