Its clear Carmelo is trying to extort and leverage Indy and Laguna against each other.

That is just ..... Laguna counts as a bucket list type of circuit. Indy? Waaay down the list.

I couldn't agree more!

I'm sooooo glad to have got it in this year.

Fcuk knows what we are going to do in 2015 though,

Me n Jumks arranged to do it again then, I had such a good time ;)

Today´s race showed that some tracks tend produce great racing, and that some tracks have great esthetic appeal. Like Brno, Laguna Seca defenitely scores high in both categories.

If Ezy is so concerned about the spectacle, maybe he should take this into consideration for once, instead of dreaming up the next ill-thought-out rule change.

Pigsh do u have a link to this story? Cant find it anywhere on the net. Is this some UK version of April fools?

this is some serious ........ in any case!!!

guna and suzuka, 2 circuits on my bucket list.

what next, cancel mugello and replace it with albacete?

Remember your own advice when it comes to GP. When i used to ..... about  Dorna ....... with the regs to promote close racing, you used to tell me that Moto GP is first and foremost a business, not a competition. Ok, its a business, and Laguna was obviously not good business. When you strip away the emotions of having your backyard GP axed, this is nothing but a business decision. Do i agree with it, NO, because its twice the track that Indy is, but obviously Indy was more profitable, and there is no comparison in the facility. Just business :....:

Pov, but I was saying that its a business in a negative sense. Dollar values placed higher than the authenticity of the competition and the popularity of the venue in this case is a big FU to fans, not just American fans. I have argued that Indy is an event well organized by the city, though Laguna is just as well organized (without the big metropolis near by) however u'll be hard pressed to find 5 motogp fans who think the Indy track is endearing. Facilities? What GP fan cares about that? I never been but I've been told Donny had .... facilites but Jesus was the races spectacular. Attendance? Indy is in a big city, closer to large pop, they barely get 10K more peeps!

Valencia to be dropped, not Laguna. 19 race calendar is doable, so Brazil and Argentina to be added, Valencia dropped.

Krop, I've asked this in the comments section on Motomatters and even put out a tweet to you, but so far haven't got an answer. Are you aware of any contract between Scramp and the AMA to run AMA races on the Laguna Seca GP weekend, thus preventing the running of Moto 2 and Moto 3 there because there's no room left on the schedule. I talked to a person at Austin, who has connections with the US tracks and Ducati NA, that told me this was the real reason we don't see the lower classes in Monterey rather than the accepted notion of travel costs. I thought Qatar paid for all the yearly travel costs of Moto GP.
I am not aware of any contract between SCRAMP and the AMA to run on that weekend. They have a contract to run a race there, but I do not know whether it stipulates being on the GP weekend.

From what I have been able to learn, the reason Laguna is MotoGP only is because they get a huge discount on the sanctioning fee. Under normal circumstances, the tracks for the flyaway rounds pay for transport of bikes and equipment to the circuit. Laguna can't afford to pay for all three classes, so has the AMA on the program. Whether having the AMA there was originally to attract US race fans to the circuit when MotoGP first went, I do not know, but I believe that the question in recent years has been more about money.

Good. It's gonna happen some day but one more Laguna is so much better than no more Laguna

On a more hopeful note, it seems that Krop has backed off a little on his twitter feed about Laguna being definitely cancelled. Apparently he talked to some other Spanish journalists who are questioning whether Carmelo actually told Telecinco, the Spanish television channel, that the race was definitely cancelled. In his tweet Krop said the race might still be on. However, with the new rules for 2014 on how many engines the factory bikes will be allowed in a season, I find it hard to believe Dorna will add more races. If they did keep Laguna and not cancel anywhere else, wouldn't that be like 20 races in a season?

Sorry, but my above post was written before I read your latest update Krop. Good to see that Valencia is being dropped. What is your source for this? And thanks for the info on the AMA at Laguna. That's what I believed also, but the person at Austin gave me the alternate story and is pretty connected so I thought I should verify it.

Someone inside Dorna told me about Valencia.
