Laguna race thread

have we seen the same race? didnt you got all those 'riders introduction' moments during the race, when they showed karel abraham, loris capirossi etc. + all the recaps of the start from the left angle, then from centre, then from the right angle? and the recap of the guys going down the corkscrew, over and over and over.... bad 'regie' a couple of times too; like turning to dovi while the guys up front were closing in on eachother. a race with so many recaps is a race where not much happens imo

have to admit it wasnt a bad race, the pass stoner did on lorenzo was amazing! but honest to god I almost fell asleep. you'd think it might be the time here but I came rushing home from work at 10.55pm so I was fully awake... how many guys crossed the finish line btw...

but why the flying .... did they give that bostrom dude the wildcard? at leastgive the wildcard to an american rider who is willing to ride the race and give it all, and doesnt have an 'I have an other race to do so Ive to be carefull' attitude during the race... sure he must be a good rider but if you come in with that attitude what do you expect to get from the race??? he even said it himself on the bbc that he didnt want to risk it all (which is understandable!!) so why did they gave him the wildcard

+1 well said

Well first and foremost: het is dan ook kleine meisjes bedtijd.

You are right of course, the eternal replays of the start, shots of faces in the pits and views from the midfield are terrible. But that happens every single race. I commented on the exact same thing last race. Did you think that was a boring one too? I think some people at Dorna figured that these tricks are a good way to keep the tv crowd interested, and they have missed the fact that we actually have some really good racing going on lately.

Now off to bed with you!

They gave the game away when they did a token slo-mo of Rossi just riding in a fairly ginger fashion down the corkscrew and nearly stuffing it up ..... doesn't sound like even that was enough to appease the boppers though
<

Was a bit annoying for the fans of the riders up front especially when they were realistically still in the race of the century. Ok they had so much live airtime on the battle that we hardly saw the others and I guess to make it semi-interesting they used recaps of what they were up to but meh ..... they should just keep it on the guys up front.

Interested to see what the whole Rossi and Hayden hug was about ..... looked innocent consolation from Rossi toward Hayden I thought.

Yeah, I tried to write it down as objectively as possible. Don't want to be starting rumours, but curious to learn more.

Take this with a grain of salt as its sourced from crash.net.....

Rossi "hey, dont worry. One time you overtake me, another time I overtake you. We will switch."

Hayden "ok, but at Indy its my turn to overtake you"

Probably ........ but who knows.....

lmao that sounds like some silly .... little kids would say to each other.

overall a pretty good race..would love to have seen more of a battle up front but stoner cleared off and was going faster while jlo's pace slowed.

that slow mo of everyone coming down the corkscrew on the first lap was epic as .... haha

I dont know what everyone is bitching about, i thought that was a very entertaining race. If you closed your eyes and imagined you were back in 2004, you would see that Stoners win was very Rossiesque. Stalk stalk stalk, Strike, then pull out a 3-4 second win in the last 3-4 laps. It happened numerous times and the fans just loved it. I guess the right guy didnt do it, so it was boring
<

Masterful performance from Stoner. Lorenzo did better than i expected and limited the damage. Pedro faded terribly, tougher track than Germany. Ben, damn it son, you have the pace, but you have to go early. Again he showed he didnt have any [stamina] problem, he was out of the picture behind Dovi and easily reeled him in late in the race. Nicky was faster than Rossi, but would have had to pull off something risky to make the pass. If ther is one place he would be forgiven for scuffing up Rossi, it was here. Sic Sic Sic, has anyone ever crashed a factory bike this much. I hope the guys have some interesting stories, its going to be a long 3 weeks.

race of the century? ....BUAHAHHA

dont worry barry is just a clown... forum troll he does it to try wind people up.

if stoners dominance comes to an end you wont see him here.... and that would be a sad moment wouldnt it

So you wouldn't have preferred it if Lorenzo was able to put up a fight?

I'm serious ........

Its just you boppers are so blinded about bitching at Stoner you missed a masterful performance by the three top guys.

Lorenzo was a machine at blocking Stoner and I thought Stoner wouldn't find anywhere to do it .......

If you missed the skills going on there in that race ..... well its just sad for you.
<

Amazing race ........ Rossi never had such competition ever!.

thats what you get for watching a craftsman for a race or two.

race was not as stale as some others but i was holding out for a big battle but still epic finish by stoner the move on pedro was ace.... stoner used his noodle, hung in there ....waited quiet till lorenzo's tryes went off then pounced.

i think someone has turned the wick down on celli's bike and i think its done to keep him away from the other 2 honda's

I think we all would've liked to see Jlo put up more of fight with Casey and give us an exciting last 3 laps, maybe asking to much from us fans, but Casey did his part and he was the only rider out there that stopped it from being a snore fest. I'm sure the race had to be more exciting for any Casey fan, it's always more fun when your guy wins especially when they were all sooking about after qualie when he was having some problems.

Well that was a top race, briliant move from stoner, didnt know wether he had the pace at the beginning.

Fair play to Lorenzo realy hope this battle goes to the end of the season.

Elias and capirossi lapped

lol i havent bitched about stoner WTF?

well from a racers point of view clown..... if the riders are in front burning rubber let them carry on you can always save yours and use it later
<
pretty obvious what stoner was going to do.

nice rossi comment at the end but have your fun for now

Just watched this bit over a few times, and I'd have to say that seems pretty much what happened. Bit of friendly consolatory banter thats all. The crew etc. in the background looked "happy as a Scot" ( glum ), it kinda made the whole thing seem far worse than it ever was.

Lorenzo rode 4 laps in 1'21.8 or better all race (early, in laps 4, 6, 10 and 11), as did Dani. Stoner rode TWELVE. Most surprising of all were the 3 Stoner pulled out at the end before slowing up. In essence we had Lorenzo doing a Stoner all weekend (fast in every session from the get-go, no trouble getting fast laps) and Stoner doing a Lorenzo in the race itself (getting stronger and stronger as the race goes on, and grinding away with a string of fast laps). Everybody else seemed happy to just be themselves.

Lucky for Elias that his team-mate for the week didn't finish, as I think it would have been the end of his ride.

What is wrong with the satellite Yamahas? Edwards starting from his lowest Laguna position ever, Crutchlow unrecognisable... things seem even worse than last year right now.
