Laguna race thread

Thats not 100% correct, our resident doctor,{ who has to be the most diplomatic person ive ever seen], agrees, as everyone else does, that nutrition is a major part of mental health, yet he does not back your theory that Ben Spies has a neurological disorder that is causing him to under perform in the first few laps of a race

I don't think there is much doubt that several of the naturally bigger riders, spies, hayden and latterly rossi are underweight; they have certainly reduced their weight compared to earlier in their careers when being significantly heavier did not seem to impede them from winning world championships etc, and so I think it is also reasonable to blame it on the necessities, perceived or otherwise, of the current (stupid) formula. I strongly doubt they are going to disclose their real weights either since it seems to be a sensitive topic. The fact that many endurance athletes have low body weight because it aids them professionally doesn't mean they are not underweight as well; they not infrequently have physiological disturbances like amenorrhoea and being prone to osteoporosis in female distance runners, and I believe there is data which suggests immune suppression, not that I am well informed about the latter.

It is fairly basic biochemistry and physiology that supplying energy to the brain is an extreme priority in human metabolism. Whether ben spies has starved himself to the point of relying on ketone bodies for brain metabolism during racing is another question; I would tend to doubt it but I guess it is not impossible. Keshav's nutritionist wife and mdubstylie would likely be better informed than most doctors, and me in particular.

I do think it is possible that his early race problems are due to the current (stupid) bridgestone tyres, so I guess whether he improves on next year's supposedly better tyres if he stays at his current weight may be instructive.

Note: Michael does not vehemently disagree either. He is at the very least open-minded about the possibility.

Open-mindedness.... try it sometime Pov.

BTW - do you know what amenorrhoea is Pov? You should start dieting right away. If you were to experience

this syndrome, you might well be less grumpy.

Like i said, Michael is a diplomat, he also said

' tend to agree with those who are saying his early race problems are riding related and particularly concern warming up the motogp bridgestones (with very different characteristics to wsbk tyres) early in races rather than due to any pathophysiological disturbance, and that he will methodically eventually work this out as he has most things previously in his career.

Top riders in gp have always been on the small side, a simple look back at Rossi and Hayden in 05-06 tells a lot about the lengths they have to go to

to beat the current crop of lightweight talent on fuel restricted 800cc shitcans. Weight loss that only really started to become apparent in 2008. I don't however believe that

these riders aren't properly managed physically. Although I'm sure the taller riders like Nicky, Ben, Sic and Rossi would much prefer to eat a little more every now and then.

Motomatters has a great article on Kenny Roberts comments after riding the M1. It would appear with the regulation overhaul next year that now is a good time for the powers that be

to seriously rethink the philosophy of the category.

Maybe an easy way to fix this problem is to approach it in the same way as super karts or horse racing do... Have a minimum combined weight of both the rider & the bike... And ballast up those that don't make the minimum weight... ?

Weak as ever. You got nothing - except your usual juvenile internet paeans to intolerance and ignorance. You'd have been equally effective by sticking your fingers in your ears and going nah nah nah I can't hear you. Unlike humans who utilize intellect and incisive incite, you don't really debate Pov. You, like generations after generation of your hillbilly progenitors, are more like a huge, untended hound, with a gut full of cheap dogfood, shivering in the dark, chained to the porch of your own ignorance, barking mindlessly at the lights of passing cars in the night, as they make their way to bright cities with wide boulevards of intellectual exchange and cultural melding, places you'll never visit. With you it's always woof woof woof out there in the darkness.

Hahaha I thought he was taking his moon walk to a whole new level, with the moon crash. He was planning on doing it again on his victory lap.

And I have been responsible for many threads falling off the tracks, but damn guys this is 17 pages of, is Spies ... to big or not is ridiculous. You guys have 1,000s of post you should know better. Where was viper about 14 pages ago to start a separate thread for this? Viper dont do it know, its to late. Dogs up ....., angry Chihuahua with cataract.

Your right, i was taught " Never mud wrestle with a pig, he loves it, and all you get is dirty".

But hey, it did apply to Moto Gp. Bring on the next race.
