We know there are more qualified people in the paddock, nobody has disputed this but you tried to rubbish mamola's suggestion about cutting wires to wheels saying firstly he was joking (i remember his tone differently).and secondly he is not very clever

Its hard work keeping up with you. You bring this up now from 7 days ago, Is this so the debate is not so fresh im peoples minds, so the context is missing. new tactic maybe ?

Exactly, i wouldn't look to him for technical regulations, there are far more qualified people for that job. And I honestly don't think he literally thinks the wheel sensors should just be chopped off with wire cutters, because thats rediculous.

Firstly, traction control has been significant in motogp since 2003 whether you like or not.

Secondly TC cannot create grip, it just prevents the the threshold of grip from being so easily surpassed.

We are not debating whether the man is a genius. Irrelevant. He knows the technical aspects you are talking about, to such a high degree that he is among a very short list of people that would be in a paddock, who has been there in many capacities. That he is not the one with the highest ‘IQ’ is rather irrelevant in your argument. (This is what you are shitting on him for NOT knowing the technical aspects to a genius degree, false argument).

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>"totally reasonable to question him as a source"

Quite the opposite is true. You'd be a dumb ... to think he is not on a very short list of people who would be one of the best sources to know what the hell they are talking about. This is by far the dumbest part of you very dumb post.

Now you try and squirm out by saying he's not the guy that knows it the most? Haha, yeah, perhaps we should bring Einstein from the dead and he might explain it to us all. As usual you miss the mark by a numerical value only seen in measuring cosmic distances and bailouts. Only a moron would have taken my response about his riding success and only deduced that its proves his knowledge, as you totally fail to see its pertinence, the point was he has a unique background in relation to the engineers who perhaps only understand these technical aspects in paper form only. Do you think that he is simply reading a teleprompter when he addressed technical aspects about the equipment in the sport? A good journalist researches, now couple that with his racing experience and superior standing in the paddock and you got a guy who probably has engineers sitting around showing him the top secret nerd schematic because...’wow, I'm shooting the .... with Randy Mamola.’ Now imagine the multi-fold advantage of him being a former successful rider, revered by the paddock, which undoubtedly has a unique access to the engineers, and on top of that, currently rides the machines they are talking about, and who's full time job is to learn about then communicate these technical specs to spectators and other interviewers. ....! Do you even realize what you type?

Who might know more the knowledge you are talking about? Are you going to say the engineer? What makes you think they understand it "technically" more than Mamola, because they have a degree? You see, you Tom are the poster child of somebody who has a formal education (so you claim) who doesn't know ....!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>he's not the cleverest guy in the paddock, i wouldn't be looking at him for technical regulations.

Oh really, he’s NOT a guy that you would be looking to for a technical understanding? Well I know why, because YOU are the one looking, and blind idiots usually can’t see or understand. Dude, you are absurd and useless.

"This is classic"? Yeah, what is classic is your predictable response, .........

(You know Tom, for the record, I'm not an antagonistic kinda person, but you say some of the stupidest .... on here.)

Randy spoke about it on eurosport because its his job. Im in no doubt he would have asked/learned about these systems in the course of doing his job from the top boys in the paddock. They were talking about policing a ban on TC. Randy said "it's easy, just cut any wires to the wheels, sure there may be ways to do the same tc job without wheel sensors in the future but cutting wheel information to engine management would work with today's technology. bit of a no brainier i would think tom but your the engineer who knows it all.

And as i said in an earlier post, Randy was not joking when he said that as you stated !

Thats fine. You may believe that Mamola is the be all and end all of technical know how and chose to turn to him exclusively for your understanding. Despite all his achievements and current position in the paddock i don't think that is the case. No big deal

yup!

he thinks Mamola is overrated...

i am sure that jumkie does not think RM is the "be all and end all" of tech know how but due to his unique standing in the paddock of being a journo and a rider, who rides the current model bike (well one of them) more often than most "experts", he is much more likely to know whats up with TC.

jesus, do you actually read what people say?
No one said he was the "be all and end all of technical know how", but he does know more about it than you , which you find hard to accept.

I'm just glad what we both said on the matter is there for people to read. I'm starting to really think its just not you being a troll, but rather, you just do NOT comprehend some very basic concepts and logic. So I'm actually starting to pity you.

Hey curve, you're the master of statements through pictures. Do you have any with Mr.T saying: "I pity the foo!"

Ok man, I give up .

Good to see you have it all figured out then.
I guess you are a close, very close friend of Mamola too, as you obvioulsy know him so well?

I'm going to appeal to the slippery-slope fallacy on this one, because in racing and in clever engineering it is truth. If you eliminate 'traction control,' first, you will increase crashes and its related costs for repair, then engineers will get clever - clever costs money in R&D time, mind you - and figure out loopholes and ways around the traction control restrictions with clever fuel injection. So then what do we do? Revert to carburetion? Then everybody starts watching SBK whilst MotoGp is lost to the mists of antiquated obscurity. Is that what you want? I sure don't.

Come on unlimited 800cc (I don't know why, but I like that capacity) motogp!!! The only way to keep costs down is to go for broke! No limits on TC, weight, # of cylinders, revs, tires, fairings, forced induction, NitrousOxide, missiles...
