JEREZ GP 2012: RACE

I agree with whoever said that the race was boring. I don't want to see crashing, but i was entertained watching the Moto2 race.

I was tempted to fast forward a lot of the MotoGP race. I even prayed for Pedrosa to catch up cause I thought he would've made the podium fight exciting. Bizzaro land.

Stoner - Great Job - Expected (Went wide let Jorge catch up)

Jorge - Great Job - Expected (Went wide let Stoner get away)

Pedro - Wanted you to win

Cal - Chose the right tire, sticks his leg out too much. And out of control early on. Which was EXCITING.

Dovi - My guess. Will improve by mid season and beat Cal every race he finishes in second half.

Bautista - Good Job

Bradl - Good Job

Hayden - I wonder if anyone seriously thought he'd keep it up front. I didn't.

Rossi - Mediocracy, Don't expect anything until we see improvement. If we ever do.

Edwards - WTF. From best CRT to.

Spies - Spies Who. My gold fish has more personality.

Stoner was not keeping much in reserve -- if he was he would have taken the gap to 2 seconds and kept it there, instead of letting it fluctuate as low as .2. That doesn't mean he didn't ride a great race.

Agree... he did wonders with the soft front. Very calculating. If Lorenzo had completed a Banzai pass on the penultimate lap instead of thinking he would do something dramatic in the last three turns - I don't know that Casey would have had enough tire to return the favor. You can bet even money that all three of the podium finishers were wishing they'd chosen the harder option for the front end.

They didn't put in 24L of fuel? That's my guess. They made fuel calcs to reduce fuel weight, but the fuel computers are so primitive that it all went pear shaped. Same thing that happened to Ben at Monza, right? 24L of fuel for a much shorter distance, but the R1 still ran dry.

I don't think he ran outta gas...

Randy:

Seven laps from the end I had a problem when engaging second gear, which got progressively worse and caused me to have to pull up with two laps to go. It wasn't a serious issue, just a problem with the fuel pump...

Hi Guys

First post. Im sorta new to the sport so pardon my dumb questions.

I enjoyed watching the race today.

what I was curious about is the incident when the rider on the black bike with the green helmet ran the red bike off.

It seemed to me that the black bike kinda cut his way across the track in front of everyone.

The announcers didnt say too much about it. Im used to watching Arenacross where this is legal. I would think that at the speeds the GP bikes are running it would be a penalty or a suspension because someone could really get hurt.

Will there be any repurcussions to this type of riding or is it allowed.

I hope he at least apologized for the incident

Anyway it was a good race and I really enjoyed some of the early battles

Not exactly sure which incident or rider(s) you are referring to but... sounds like a standard racing incident - no harm, no foul, no repercussions!!

Lap 1, turn 6.

Crutchlow makes a slightly optimistic dive beneath Hayden and overshoots by a few feet, while Hayden entered a little wide and was tightening his line. They met in the middle...

Like Mick says, this sort of thing happens from time to time. There's no ill intent and no real damage. I suspect Cal has bought Nicky a beer and all is forgiven.

Sorry but none of the top 3 has the balls to bring back the emotional side the series need. Yes, Rossi is not my favorite rider, but I miss him a lot as a rival figure. He's legendary, a factor that multiplies the fun of MotoGP by 10. It's nice to beat Rossi, as long as he wins too.

Interesting that Mick Doohan said yesterday that they all seem quite civil when the prize is a long way off. As the season progresses and a real fight for the championship develops (as we hope), perhaps their "respect for one another" may well morph into more of a fight .. off the track as well as on it.

The Aussie OneHD telecast was awesome last night with Beatie and Doohan (except for the bad sat feed). Doohan was pretty honest in his read of things, and made some interesting comments.

Said that Haydens bike looks pretty good and solid on the track, but Rossi's bike looks very 'wobbley".

Very interesting Steve Parrish's interview with Jeremy Burgess. JB really sounded like they are lost with Rossi's bike. He said that Rossi definitely isn't pushing the limits, because he can feel things are just not right. JB said all the satelite Ducs are 2011 spec running the old two piece frame, and therefore the last version of the engine. All data from the other Ducs is available to them, but there is limited benefit as the bikes are different.

PM Jumkie - he'd be happy to discuss it.

Crap - sorry about the Espagaro spoiler Jum - oops

I thought it was a pretty good race, the first few laps were bonkers, similar to Moto-2!

Stoner was sublime, i thought Jorge was doing his usual by falling back a bit then chipping away towards the end, little did he/or we know the Casey could drop .5sec off his laptime, class and intelligent racing from Stoner!

Cal was awesome, i'm really rooting for him this year, he deserves a podium!

I thought Hayden could have done better, well i hoped he would. Still, things look slightly more promising!

Rossi, hope what he's been saying about set-up etc etc actually works for him, its getting increasingly hard to watch him fighting for 10th.

Spies, i think you're ...... mate! You better start winning or atleast fighting for podiums otherwise you can say ciao to that factory seat! His comments about Dovi nicking his seat are biting him back it seems....

Excellent race, was expecting Stoner to fold in the last laps but he kept it together. Great race by the guy. Jorge, was really wanting him to pressure Casey into a mistake, but didn't happen. Great ride by him though. Pedrosa, as others have said, been on the HRC bike a long time NEEDS to deliver or go home. Cal, holy ...., are we witnessing the birth of a British Alien? 3 4th places on the trot, beating his team mate again and looking like he was gonna pass Pedrosa a few times. Amazing, cannae wait for Silverstone Cal!

Rossi, painfull to watch, get off that thing for gods sake, give the lead role to Nicky, get back on a Jap bike and finish your career with some dignity.

Found this pic and it is said to be from the race although I am not sure if that is correct but either way .................. bloody good shot

I agree with Spooky, Stoner was sublime. I too, think he rode an intelligent race - worked his way forward moderately through the front pack, took the lead, dictated the race and spared his tyres, then blasted off on the last two laps. Well done, boy. I admit, after Saturday's qualy, I had some big doubts about his motivation - was I wrong!

George rode extremely well all weekend. But after Sunday's race, I think he is gonna have some doubts whether he can keep up with Casey this year. It's only very early, but I think yesterday's race has revealed a lot...

Poor Dani. Looked really strong and determined on Satrurday. He just can never seem to make it count every race. Sure, he got the podium. But he looked weak on that bike for most of the race and was nowhere near the front.

Cal rode a bloody great race. As someone else said: 'give him a factory bike'. I can see him replacing Spies next year if contract commitments allow. Spies must be feeling quite insecure, I reackon and had better get his act together.

As for Vale, dear oh dear...

no, definitely not from the race, was FP3 i think, i saw it live, after this he was entering pits. you can see his left boot there, he almost fell off the bike.

Nice new creative name Pinky.

Pinky? No, pretty brown, bro.

I don't know what you are talking about, but recognise your lack of bollocks in your edit... ......? No, never a minced-meat product, ever... .... myself? If only - I am probably only a few inches better endowed than you... or maybe quite a few, but certainly not enough to penetrate myself... bj maybe, but I've got this bad back you see...

Yes MotoBabe you are correct

Your new to the game and you see the truth of things. People become blinded by their patriotism and refuse to believe that which is plain as day.

The problem is the announcers are all Brits and they are dying for the next great Brit rider so it will be a cold day in hell before they will criticize Crutchlow.

If you get a chance watch moto 2. There is a Brit rider named Bradley Smith. You will never see Smith because he languishes around 10th place every week but you will get constant updates by the commentators as to where he is.

What Crutchlow did was attempt to murder Nicky Hayden. He was on the far outside of the track, farther outside then any rider and swerved across 2 lines. He cut off his teammate,Pedrosa and as Lex said used Nicky as a backstop.

Just before this incident he overshot another corner. He was a ....... bowling ball. In fact the American Powerslide media now refers to Crutchlow as the BBC. Bowling Ball Cal.

Now I like Cal but I think he should be suspended a few rounds. He reminded me a lot of Simoncelli yesterday. Riding way too agressive early on and trying to kill an opponet that he was faster then on the first few laps.

He should be suspended one race for the incident and one additional race because Nicky Hayden was involved

I think that Race Direction should institute what I shall call the Jumkie Rule, which forces riders to form an orderly line behind Nicky Hayden for the duration of the race.
