How's Mugello as a race venue?

How's Mugello as a race venue?

A ....... nightmare. It's hard to get into and out of and isn't that great for spectating in my opinion. Yellow hats abound.

I'd say Sachsenring or Assen are the best European venues but I haven't been to any of the Spanish ones.

I've not been to Sachsenring or Assen for MotoGP, but seriously disagree with your views on Mugello - you can either camp at the track or get involved with Pole Position or similar and get coached in and out, either way getting in and out of the track is resolved or mitigated.

I was there in 2009 and found the atmosphere briilliant regardless of yellowness, which was mostly concentrated in one area if that bothers you (??). If you recall, Rossi didn't win and it pissed it down on the Sunday, but I'd say it was a circuit with beautiiful views, charm and goodwill and pretty good spectating possibilities, as you are not restricted to a small area, rather the majority of the track is available to view from as G-A.

Go and camp or do a Pole Position trip IMHO - it's an experience you'll not regret, and even in 2009 was not completely rossi-centric, so I doubt it is now. It p's me off that peeps says "don't go to circuit x because of the yellow hats" - fark me, in Donington in 2000 I was stunned as to the number of yellow hats. It's the air horns that piss me off, though that could just be because I'm old :D

I've always wanted to visit Italy for a MotoGP race.

I used Pole position travel when I went to Mugello. You stay in Florence and take a nice bus back and forth.
I wouldn't want to try it without a travel agency. They handle everything for ya.

Mugello is a great place to watch. There are dudes with fiat 500 engine motors mounted on dollies with megaphones attached where the muffler belongs. I saw a kid pushing a running chainsaw motor in a nasty baby stroller.
And after the race everyone floods that track on foot and motorbikes. Never seen so many guys in yellow wigs 2 up on a scooter popping wheelies everywhere. On the track! None of this would fly in the U.S.
Where we were sitting me could see lots of turns.
