Another question:
There were supposedly 5 Proddy bikes to be made available by HRC. Based on the fact that Aspar seem to be sharing, are there actually only 2 built thus far?

But by season start, there'll need to be 6 surely, Shirley?

What's the allocation?
Redding
Hayden
Aoyama

I'm inclined to not believe it as well, but Casey always had a propensity to go fast right out of the box. It'd be one of the more stunning feats of his career, even if it's never remembered. If true, of course.

It probably is true when you consider that Casey didn't put up a competitive time with the full factory bike, he's been off anything as fast as a GP bike for a long time and he probably rode both of them to his current limit. If you think Casey isn't a bit rusty after being away this long you are fooling yourself. I think Hayden will go faster on this bike, but I think the open Yamaha will be the better bike simply because it's closer to being a full prototype and FTR can pump out as many chassis as Forward is willing to pay for and because these bikes are the future I'm sure they(FTR)will be giving it everything they have.

I don't feel bad for Hayden, he knows the only reason he's on that bike is to sell bikes back home for American Honda.

You had a decent post going (to my surprise) until you showed your ... on the last bit.  So he knows he is just there to sell ...... Honda bikes.  Well that is some marketing plan they got going there genius.  Hawkmigs, you don't think they kept him on because he finished the second half of the season virtually the better of Dovi?  Nah, right.

Yeah and they reward him by allowing him to continue being grid filler on sub factory machinery, HRC .... canned him, American Honda paid for his ride and I'm sure Dorna also had a hand in him sticking around. I know you're his biggest fan, but maybe you should just enjoy watching him ride instead of waiting and hoping the guy is ever gonna do anything meaningful. He's had his chances and probably could have left for a good WSBK ride, but he's happy riding mid pack. Dovi was busy being a test donkey as you like to put it, and he hasn't held his mouth for Ducati the way Hayden has year after year. The genius with the marketing plan is Nicky Hayden, doesn't do .... year after year, but suckers like you keep on believing and spending that $$$.

Call me a fanboy if you like, but Nicky's held his own when compared to his previous two teammates, each of which carry considerable respect within the paddock. I won't argue that without American Honda's backing, he probably doesn't get the Aspar ride. But I don't think he's merely a token yank, either. Like I said, when you compare him to his teammates, he's acquitted himself quite well and I suspect there are those within the paddock who've taken notice.

The real test will be what he can do up against Redding. Hopefully by the next test he will be fit and there will be enough bikes to go around so they can get plenty of laps in. I don't think this has really

0.3sec is about the gap back to Lorenzo in second spot. No matter how good or bad the bike is, nobody is going to get that close. Hayden is about 1.3 back from Bautista on the slowest Satellite Honda, so I still think that gap could close up a lot when they get it setup right. Like I said earlier, the point is to shake up the guys in the middle-top order cruising on Satellite machinery.

i believe he intended to sign with Aspar on the prospect of riding an ART, but decided against that when Dall'Igna left Aprilia. Only after Aspar's change to Honda machinery was confirmed the team became an (or the best) option for him again.

so what? Rossi only got his fac Yamaha ride in order for them to sell scooters and merch. riders are signed under commercial considerations all the time, as long as they are still able to deliver more or less what they are expected to - and I am sure that Hayden will match Rossi's 2013 performance in relative terms - there is no reason for wetting your pants.

edit: and I bet you a million bucks that he won't be outclassed by his teammate, unlike Rossi

Nicky's best days in racing are definitely behind him, and most racing fans realize this is the case. It is just the fanboy stalkers that think he's got some winning ways left in him.....

As you say Nicky is the token American, and Dorna helped / fixed (conspiracy / favoritism) it to keep Hodor around for another couple of seasons.   Why? There seems to be are NO other Americans ready, able or willing to step up to GPs right now.

USA Honda kicked in enough money to cover the bike costs and probably some part of Nicky's salary.  Why? so Nicky can be their Tool....and this tool will sell motorbikes, t-shirts, baseball hats, lawnmowers, snowblowers and other garden tools to his fanboys.

I've been saying it for some time now, Nicky is on the KRJR career path.....win a title, stay on second rate factory team even though his results did not warrant the ride, then he is push to the back of the grid on some third rate bike, and then to slide out the back door of GPs without anyone really noticing or caring.....

But like i said Nicky did better than i expected, the 1:34s he was running are pretty much were i thought he'd be......either way good luck to him..

As expected with the Ducati...so only Cal is pulling at his collar (while smilling at the thought of how fat his wallet and bank account is now) :)

Could you do the one about Hodor one more time?

Actually, I strongly disagree about Kenny Jnr. When Senior ran the V5 motor in '06 we got a glimpse of how good he still was as a rider. You overlook how uncompetitive the GSV-4  was and the extent it handicapped both Hopper and KRjnr.

I agree about the Suzuki.  Hopper was hampered by Hopper.

My point is KRJR slid down and out of the GPs rather unceremoniously, and that is what is happening to Nicky now.

Nicky might get a sniff at a podium over the next 2 years but only when much of proper prototype field falls down or are injured.
