Shoulder pain brought an early end to Michel Fabrizio's MotoGP return in Sunday's Czech Republic MotoGP at Brno.

The Italian, third in the 2009 World Superbike Championship with one race win, returned to MotoGP for the first time since 2007 as a replacement for Mika Kallio at the satellite Pramac Ducati team.

Having been 17th and last in Friday practice at Brno, Fabrizio outpaced Gabor Talmacsi in both second practice and qualifying, when he lapped a respectable 0.877sec slower than top Ducati rider Nicky Hayden (eighth) and within half a second of team-mate Niccolo Canepa (twelfth)

But hopes of advancing further up the order in the race soon ended when a shoulder injury, apparently sustained on Friday, prompted the Italian to retire from last place on lap six.

"There isn't much to say today. After some laps I felt more and more pain on the right shoulder injured on Friday and I almost couldn't use the brake anymore,” explained Michel. “I had to stop otherwise I would have risked a fall. I have torn the right shoulder muscle and it looks like I have a golf ball under the skin. I am sorry for the Pramac Racing team that gave me this opportunity."

250GP rider Mattia Pasini will test for Pramac Ducati on Monday, while Fabrizio will return to WSBK action for Ducati Xerox at the Nurburgring on September 6.

I feel that Haga does not stand a chance if he's not gonna heal 100% in 18 days. I really hope Nitro emerges back to the top and shocks us all.

There is no way Haga is going ride in MotoGP this year. He is focused on winning the championship. He is currently "on top" of the points in WSBK, and with all this time off, he will most likely be back to 100%. Hopefully for us race fans that means an incredible battle between he and Spies for the title.

So how bad is the injury? I wouldn't mind if Fabi was relegated to mid pack performances for the rest of the season. Anytime he is close to the front I am holding my breath. You know eventually he is going to take someone out as he has shown time and time again.
