A few corners before that Hamilton had no grip.
No, I don't think so. Glock was on the dry tyres, so he had no grip to hold on to his position. I don't think Lewis realised he was the champ when he overtook him though. Anyway, doesn't matter now: Lewis is the champ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh...to Teo: Congrats!!!!!!!!! Lewis did it!!!!!

It took a while until I got realized, about 10 or 20 minutes of pure frustration, but that is racing and it's only sport.

And so, we still remain in the queue to the world tittle again.
<

Congratulations Hamilton.

Hmm i hear what your saying and taking nothing away from hamilton, 18 seconds in less than a lap... weather conditions hadnt really changed it was as wet as it had been for several laps surely you cant lose such a drastic amount of grip for no reason ???... not convinced by Glock to be honest but whatever its over with now and i look forward to a season with a higher level of competition.

LOL at Massa's dad celebrating - then the look on his face when some Ferrari guy told him Lewis had got the title.

Yep, must of been utterly crushing for fellipe's father and family to go through that. let alone fellipe and ferrari

I've never liked him, I can't stand his arrogance

Yeah, exactly. I'm happy for Lewis, but at the same time I also feel sorry for Felipe. He fought so hard in the end, but he really couldn't do anything more. Maybe next year??? He definitely improved as a driver.

Ok, fair enough. If you think he's arrogant, then I can understand it. I guess you're not the only one, he does look arrogant at times, but hey, in the end he was right, he won the title. And whether you like him or not, it must be great for England to finally win a title again...last time was in 96, Damon Hill.

I feel sorry for Lewis having his lifetime achievement booed by 100000 people. Still pretty sad for massa to think he'd won it, i guess actually watching the race is important

We are in queue first, last time was in '91 with Senna.

It's our time, damn!

17 years without a title.

My worry now is , Fellipe's chances may be over for the near future atleast and i allso feel Hamilton's going to struggle with the competition next year..

It was one of the most dramatic ending F1 eeever. Rain, dry and a little bit of rain.
Congratulation to Lewis Hamilton, the youngest F1 Champion and feel sorry for Massa and his family. Maybe next year Massa can win the WC.

It was a bad decision after all for Timo Glock not to pit for wet tyre and Kubica causing confusion by overtaking on the track while he was actually being lapped. Vettel overtook Lewis when Kubica was unlapping himself and that was it. I thought LH championship is gone. But Timo Glock was the saviour !!..

so let me tell you now my "watching the most thrilling race of the year" experience:

0000 hrs - race day, managed to stay up until RACEDAY and watch steve dawson and paula ali

0100 hrs - start aborted for ten minutes. i told myself, i'm gonna close my eyes first since the start was aborted. man, they really hurt at that time

woke up: 48/71 laps
<
<
<
DAMN!!! i overslept

so what's going on now? - well, massa alonso rakka...then hammie 5th..tsk tsk tsk, not good...but there's still 48 laps. lots of things can happen. oh, my eyes still hurt. i'm gonna close it for a while and LISTEN to the commentary...1 minute and i'm out!
<
<
<

woke up: 35/71 laps
<
<
<
DAMN DAMN DAMN!!! i overslept again

what happened next? - proceed to
<
<
<
then repeat that for about 5 times more of "listening", eventually sleeping, waking up, and so on and so forth. until...

STATUS: 3/71 laps. I just woke up as steve slater suddenly shouted out how close vettel is to hamilton! oh .... oh .... oh ...., hurting eyes and sleepiness forgotten, there were just two phrases i could mutter: oh .... oh ...., oh lord, oh ...., oh lord oh lord...

OH ....!!!! vettel passed hamilton! WAAAAAH!!!
<
<
<
<
more oh .... and oh lord followed

massa won

alonso and rakka followed

drum roll please

weeeehhh, vettel finished ahead of hamilton! waaaaaahhhh!............................................................................
.................................................................................

then the timing screen showed and...

MOTHER OF ALL FUCKERS! that's all. the end.

That was the worst bit. It reminded me of Stoner getting booed at Donington, but it sounded a thousand times worse in Brazil.

If Kimi gets on with next years car Felipe will have a real job trying to challenge for another title. Although he's driving better than ever and Kimi looks like he can't be bothered half the time, so who knows?

1. of course, brazil is ipe's crowd...you woudn't expect that had it happened to stoner in PI

2. they're all predicting it's massa's last chance for a world title. well, i say it's just fuel to keep us running throughout the off season. the truth will only come out next year

I think its a bit much for everyone to call this Felipes only chance. Despite all the .... thats gone on with the FIA, Massa has been a revelation this year, and easily the strongest driver besides Lewis. He could easily be a contender for years to come, and just as easily this could be Lewis' only championship if things don't work out well in the future. The right man won this year, but the right man might be different next time

Yeah, basically I was also THAT excited!!! At the start the race was really interesting, then for a long time it was getting a bit boring, but then, when it started to rain again, it got really exciting. Then Vettel overtook LH...I couldn't believe it, didn't think it would happen! Well done to him as well by the way. It seems not only Lewis can call himself the rainmaster, Vettel proved to be great in the wet as well (Monza, first win). Anyway, I couldnt believe Lewis messed up AGAIN!!!!!! I was really happy for Massa when he crossed the line, I thought he had won, but then suddenly they said Lewis won...and...then I realised he overtook Glock. Anyway, he deserved to win the title, but if Massa had won, he would have been a deserved winner as well. Maybe next season. I don't want to write him off. Everything is possible..I do hope Kimi wakes up, and starts performing like he should! I can't wait for next season, also with the return of slicks...should be fun!!!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Franco Fangio @ Nov 3 2008, 01:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I couldnt believe Lewis messed up AGAIN!!!!!!

Messed up? How did he mess up, he was calm, collected and mature. Did what he had to do. Can you imagine the backlash if he'd got red mist and put it in the hedge chasing Vettel, only to watch on as glock slowed down on the last lap! Lewis did everything right, and his entire appraoch, driving style and attitude is now justified.
