SO WHAT! He still had the advantage of a better exit thus being able to carry more speed, thus being able to pass Kimi so easily. That's why i think there should be a gravel trap in place so the racers know not to over push their limit because if they do, then they will lose precious time. But when there is no gravel or barrier at all.... Racers can and will overshoot everytime they feel they have a slight chance of an overtaking maneuver.
You gibbon!

I think LH deserved the win, looks like loads more viewers will be turning off their sets in the future. F1 has FIX written all over it nowadays...

Lewis should walk away from F1 and head elsewhere, give the sport the severe kick up the arse it needs. I hear one of the FIA chaps in judgement was from that great nation of motorsport, Kenya!

Was the FIA responsible for the initial decision? I was under the impression that the race stewards are local to each GP (probably appointed by the local racing club) and that the FIA's representative at race control said that he believed Lewis had done nothing wrong. The appeal has been launched and i expect it to go through successfully.

Having seen one of the best races in recent memory most fans of the sport seem unanimous in feeling totally robbed, Lewis himself must feel sick to his stomach.

The word 'farce' springs to mind.

Bring back Schuey!!

It makes the sport look rediculous when the best race of recent times is tarnished like this. Anyone with a basic knowledge of racing knows that Lewis gained no advantage, and even the Stewards have offered no explenation of how they came to the conclusion that he did. The decision to punish Lewis after ackwoledging that he obeyed the rules is even worse in contrast to the very last race where the stewards decided that Massa should escape significant penalty despite a clear infringement of the rules. The FIA is a mess

That would be great!!

He would kick some serious ..., and probably be on his way to win his 9th title!

In all seriousness, and without throwing insults or showing favouritism despite me being a Brit, this really is a farce. Those of you who remember me, either in agreement or totally opposed to my opinions, know I'm a passionate F1 follower.

But how on earth can I be passionate about a sport when it is so obviously being 'fixed', or at the very least extremely poorly managed.

Without You Tube clips....I saw it the first time, and one replay is enough for anyone to see the facts....let us look at the incident as a whole.

It was raining, Lewis catching Kimi hand over fist. It was a risky move by Lewis at the chicane, and perhaps a more experienced F1 head would have waited until La Source because outbraking Kimi there would have been simple under these conditions. But he tried it, and with Kimi struggling for control (as proved by his accident, all on his own) the Ferrari man drifted wide, nudging Lewis into a position where either he straighten up and cut the chicane, or try to clamber across the curb and very likely into the side of Kimi on the exit. So......he cuts the chicane.
It appears on television as if Lewis checks on Kimi, backs off, lets him through, then goes after him. Data apparently proves this. The superior traction of the McLaren in the wet conditions (as proven on the previous lap) allow Lewis to tag straight onto the back of Kimi.

Then........and this is the bit I don't get, Kimi defends the lead by swerving in front of Lewis, was it once, twice, three times, maybe even four.......something I'm sure banned by the sport. But Lewis superbly outbrakes him down the inside........what a flipping move when the man in front of you is, dare I say it, breaking the rules.

What a race, what a recovery, and another victory for a genuine and 'proper' Grand Prix circuit like Spa. Race of the Season, surely, no matter who you support.

So........what the hell is going on? What are the reasons behind this? Who is to blame?

I still say......well no, I won't say!

They used to call it the F1 Circus, relating to it being a great show. Well.....it still is a circus, a modern day circus,.........no animals, and full of clowns!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Burky @ Sep 10 2008, 12:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>In all seriousness

I'm just waiting for the result of the appeal right now, only then will i think about the ramifications for me as a fan.

It seems to me that the F1 bods will do anything so that Lewis Hamlton doesn't win the championship!
Look what he went through last year!

Are Ferrari such bad losers?

Or is it that Bernie & co just can't bare to have a black champion! racist or what!

Well I hope Lewis wins!

OK, you say it!
<

It smacks of that to me. Whether it be true or not, the fact that people are believing what they see with their own eyes, and then coming to the race issue conclusion as the 'only logical' explanation, is simply appalling for the reputation of the sport.

I don't think its a conspiracy against Lewis indivdually, more a pro-Ferrari bias. I don't think either that Ferrari are to blame for what is happening, they do all they can as a competitor to win and the governing body are responsible for ensuring that they are impartial and that sporting decisions are made fairly.

Lewis Hamilton should have been the champion last year. But FIA wanted to save Ferrari face. Well last year were a lot more drama and conspiracy against McLaren I guest..

What happened in Spa was very subjective and in my opinion LH has backed off and shouldn't be penalized. He cut chicane to avoid collision with Kimmi...

The saga continues........

So Kimi stays at Ferrari till 2010, great news for the fans!!

This news leaves ALonso's options reduced to just BMW and Honda if he wants to leave Renault. I'd be pretty excited about both, especially how he might rack up against Robert Kubica.

Hmmm I hope he goes to BMW. Renault I think are quite screwed wit the frozen engine thing.

And I hope it rains a lot in Monza also!
